I lived and worked in the Middle East for several years and there are many aspects of Islamic culture that are disturbing. If my daughter was a Muslim in Saudi she would be subject to an arranged marriage, wouldn't be able to drive a car, would be subject to Sharia law by which she would not even own her own property, would be persecuted and criminailised or even killed if she were gay. The point I was making is that those muslim countries do not even follow Sharia law they say they do but they do not. I have no problem with non muslims seeing how most of my friends are not muslim. My problem is those who stereotype and attack others based on what a few do.
You problem should be with those who are irreparably damaging the reputation of Muslims. Not those who react to suicide bombing, fundmentalism, Sharia law, mysoginism, forced bhurka wearing and all the other ridiculous or oppressive traits of Islam.
Oh I do have a problem with them, I am sure I stated that somewhere below. Islam tells us that there is no compulsion in religion. So blame those who are to blame not the religion and all its followers. Just because the stereotype is that all british people are arrogant, and that is true in some cases but not all, I have meet some really humble and likable people from there. I don't understand why we don't live in a complete secular society, religion seems to impeded upon progress in any multiculturalism. Everyone is a person, with emotions, dimensions, senses. That should be the end of it.
The reason 33% of muslims live in the most deprived areas in Britain is because they turn the ghettos they create into shitholes. If you filled Kensington with muslims, it would turn into Southall.

I lived and worked in the Middle East for several years and there are many aspects of Islamic culture that are disturbing. If my daughter was a Muslim in Saudi she would be subject to an arranged marriage, wouldn't be able to drive a car, would be subject to Sharia law by which she would not even own her own property, would be persecuted and criminailised or even killed if she were gay. It is not negative media but the facts or a lack of respect in Muslim culture for the equal rights of all.

Sharia law does not demand for the wearing of a Burkha (did you know that it is still common for women t wear, by choice? Since the Taliban have been driven out rape cases skyrocketed). I do not support the Taliban. Shairia law protects non muslims, if you knew your history then you would know this.

I lived and worked in the Middle East for several years and know that women want the freedom to wear what they choose. I saw women get on planes in London wearing Western dress then have to go into the toliets to change into burkhas. They don't have a choice. Sharia Law also denies women inheriting the property of their husbands - males are first in line. Leave Canada and get some experience of living in a genuine, wonderfully oppressive Muslim country so you get an education on the subject.

I have traveled aboard. The point I am trying to make is that Shaira Law is not being implemented properly. In Saudi (Saudi and Iran are the only 2 countries that force women to cover up, this you know since you have lived there for several yrs). In Saudi ruled by a monarchy which is against Sharia law, they follow whatever suits them, so when you think of Sharia law do not think of anything that is present time. Saudi (and others) are just messed up govs.

I have lived and/or worked in Pakistan, Iran, Bahrain, Saudi, UAE, Oman and Qatar so know from personal experience that you can keep your terrible Sharia Law. If my daughter lived in any of those countries she would be oppressed and controlled by a law that is designed for the male and would not give her the normal freedoms she has a right to enjoy. How stupid to dictate what women wear. Enjoy Canada. It is a wonderful country that is not stained by theocratic legal systems such as Sharia.

There is no "true" form os Sharia. Islam itself is open to interpretation. There is no unequivocal Sharia rulebook. Your interpretation of how it should be applied is just your interpretation like the hundreds of others. I'd have more respect for your respect of Sharia Law if you subjected yourself to living in a country that has it. You luckily live in a free, democratic country that is not shackled by laws that are based on religion instead of civil rights irresective of gender and sexuality.

So blame those who are to blame not the religion and all its followers. Just because the stereotype is that all british people are arrogant, and that is true in some cases but not all, I have meet some really humble and likable people from there.
