  • Those things are quite cool

  • whats the music i know its from the soundtrack but not which song it if

  • I dreamed on time that I was a banshee / Ikran

and it is not a joke

    it's serious

I dreamed I was the bird

I was too in an another world and flying around

  • @94kricco - That's nice, but... bird? ;)

  • so lame, i was expecting him to actually say how he came to the shape and form, and see studies, lame lame

  • I soooo hope that there'll be a longer version of this featurette in the upcoming DVD/Blu-Ray with the extras and the never-seen 8 minutes... They should tell some more about the banshees, my favorite creature in Avatar, after the thanator of course... What I really liked about the ikran and toruk was their fish-like jaw and the aerodynamic design for flying. I'd also want to see a leonopteryx featurette, I wish they'll make that... There sure is a lot to tell about the baddest guy on the sky.

  • Neville Page is such an amazing artist...

  • 0:25 That Ikran is the most pterosaur-like one.

  • me want a banshee

  • Love Modo, Lightwave, Nuke and Maya,

but would love to get into Mari 3D animated texture painting soon.

  • if you believe me or not this is my oncel ;))

  • damn watching images frmo this movie still gives me chills

    Need

    To

    See

    It

    Again

  • Wow, with this level of execution they should be able to make "The Dragon Riders of Pern" next.

  • Iwish they had a bird dance ----- Ikran's flight Overture- Tribute to Avatar. Those birds were colorful, attractive and humongous when they glide they represent that power and might to their wilderness. It brought all that beauty to the film. The birds were my favorite.

  • I want a banshee <3

  • Those things are like dragons.

  • Funny how these are called banshees cause in starcraft 2...it's the choppers which would have been called banshees due to the resemblance with heli from avatar and starcraft

  • Action combined with drama. Amazing movie.

  • The experience of this movie is beyond words. The story is compaired with the Native Americans and should be remembered always. Great movie!!!

  • Best movie of all time. It has already won Best Drama, and Best Director, at the Golden Globes!

  • geniuses made this experience. its more than a movie.

  • I wonder how colourful dinosaurs were? We only have fossils, but no clue at all how these creatures were dressed up like...

  • prolly mostly green and brown to blend in with trees n such

  • Yes, probably... but also in the rainforest some creatures, like poison frogs, show bright colours... maybe one day we will find out.

  • bits of skin have been found

    they werent very colourful

thats not to say the 99% of dinosaur species that we know of and dont have skin samples of are not rainbow striped though :P

  • bits of skin? how the heck do bits of skin survive let alone retain their original color for 200 million years?

  • because they do

look it up if you want

  • @TheBohrokMan

    true, no colour survived

  • @TheBohrokMan

Scientist have found "mummified duckbilled dinosaur" skin, however the pigment has long since faded. Currently the color is a complete guess.

  • Considering many dinosaurs evolved into Avians (which are brightly colored and patterned) Some may have had elaborate skin coloring but bright feathers in certain places is more likely.

Pigment dosn't exactly last the test of time...

  • well... that depends on your country i think, here in england, its mostly brown, grey and black.

but maybe they were like today's reptiles, with some very brightly coloured, and some very camouflaged. hell, the smaller ones may even have been able to change colour like a chameleon for all we know ;)

  • They were camouflaged, to survive in any hostile enviroment you gotta have some camo. it still applies today in the military, and in the wild, and in this moviem since every living thing has some sort of neon colours on them

  • guys and girls who like this movie! check my teaser out, you'll like it!

  • after watching all of these trailers and stuff, I just cannot wait any longer to go and see it!!

FUCK! The cinema here is closed tomorrow

  • what was the name that the na 'vi put to this animal???

  • Tikran, I believe.

  • it's Ikran. without the t =)

  • I watched this movie in 3D in the cinema just a week ago and it's so damn awesome. It's worth its money, all the way!

Loved the banshees, though Toruk was even better IMHO. However, one thing I dind't really get was what Neytiri said to her banshee. Was she calling it by a pet name? Anyone know what I mean?

  • she said suzee which in na'vi means beautiful but yes thats her pets name

  • no she said Seze, which means Blue Flower

  • @keywanmelvaqui

stop your damn online-movie-bullshit you motherf*****

everyone whos interested in avatar should go to cinema and watch in 3D, not that worthless onlineshit...... cameron created a masterpiece - for cinemas - not for the internet

    agree?

  • agreed

  • Shouldn't there be a goddamn CAPTCHA code on the account creation screen? How the hell are all these goddamn bots popping up?

  • banshees are my favourtie creature in this film tbh

  • love the movie and pls stop spam where u can get free movie from or someting bad will happed

  • @kholodivkerJaneld watch it on 3d cinema instead, its like 150times better

  • I've seen the movie in the cinema and I absolutly LOVED it :D *dances around from happiness*

I LOVE the banshees! They look a lot like dragons and dragons are my all time favorite creatures! :D

  • They look like a cross betwen a butterfly and a dragon! :D

  • youre a fuckwit who has no respect for moviemakers.

  • jeeze stop spamming this page with ur gay pirate websites! this is something u MUST see in theatres. you'll miss out on a lot if u just watch it at home

  • I still say it's a dragon/butterfly.

  • My favorite animal's definitely that big red Banshee (or whatever it's called)

  • i think its called toruk or something similar

  • it's called Turok Tarek

  • @MrWho leonopteryx

  • Banshee is actually an irish word from old folklore, Bean Sí. The banshee was a woman seen/heard by few at night prior to a death. She sat on a rock wailing and combing her long hair, eerie!

Anyway, Avatar - going to see it again, it's fantastic. This time i'm taking the family as no DVD can give the full effect of the 3D cinematic experience. Cannot wait to see Sam Worthington in the Clash of The Titans remake, however i think Avatar is fresh and original, therefore in a league of it's own!

  • oh man this film was brilliant cant wait to see it again in dvd

  • The Banshee was one of my favorites in the film. They are so beautiful and watching them fly in the movie was making my adrenaline rush. Thanks for posting this! Ever since seeing them on screen I've been having the urge to draw this animal. Providing this information was really helpful, thanks a lot!

  • Love the Banshee. Walked out of the 3D movie feeling... I didnt just watch it, I actually lived it. Almost like... like going on a 3 hour adventure ride, only, I wanted more of it. I paid for my family to go, I would clearly do so again... and again. Exhilarating, Magnificent, Thrilling, and Heart-warming. I will not forget my experience watching this movie.

    Absolutely, Purely Awesome!!!

  • @icemountainguy I had exactly the same experience.

  • lol I just bought tickets for my whole family too.

  • If I could be any creature in Pandora, I would definitely be a Leonopteryx or the Last Shadow

  • best movie ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great picture! Don't miss it! Anyway, has anyone noticed the big similitude of landscapes and nature from Avatar with the awesome job of conceptual artist Roger Dean?

  • I didn't know any of Roger Dean's work, but I just looked it up and yes, they are very similar!!

  • Saw the movie yesterday. IN-F***ING-CREDIBLE. Truly, the best movie I've ever seen in terms of visuals and setting. Not the best story ever made, but it's really just how it's executed that makes it so epic. I was actually sad when the movie ended, I wanted to stay in PANDORA!!!

  • i heard alot of the plants and creatures on pandora Jim was inspired by his deep sea diving adventures and explorations great movie btw:)

  • you really need to see it at the cinema to appreciate the sheer overwhelming awesomeness of this epic.

  • 3D baby, IMAX if possible.

  • where does these ppl can see the film so soon??

  • OMG! I WISH I CAN HAVE ONE AS A PET!

  • ....

  • i just finished watching the film about 30 minutes ago. INSTANT CLASSIC.

and the best thing is, after 10 minutes you only think of the Na'vi as tall actors in body paint.

    GIMMIE THE FUCKING DVD, CAMERON!!!!

  • seen the movie yesterday. in dreamland today. Eye melting stuff. Incredible.

  • I'm going to see it on the world premiere!

  • i saw it 2 times now, once in 3d and one normal (digital) and this movie rocks! Best movie of 2009
