  • Well, is it the 165bhp model or the 180bhp one? It's seems the same engine used in Daimler/Leyland Fleetline.

  • Hi ,that sounds great, and the barge is a beauty, love that old rivetted steelwork, dont see anything like that nowadays, i have an ex navy 24ft fibreglass hull (cheverton) it had a perkins 6235 which is nackered, i can get one of those 6xlb's outa a bus, but would it be too much for the boat? and what gearbox, prop and shaft do you think would suit? any advise greatly welcome, and good luck with your project, cheers, Danno

  • A gardner thats not smoking!! mine clags for fun ,ive noticed this alot with bio diesel fueled engines seem to run cleaner exhaust's i ran my old land rover on it and i could not get it to black smoke but on diesel i could smoke out the cars behind with out really trying (great fun)

  • God's own engine

  • how fast would your barge do with the 6lxb engine?

  • around 10-14 knotts depending on the finished weight of the boat

  • In the gardner handbook, it says u can use filtered waste engine oil as fuel!!!
