I think a couple of early season 3 episodes aired out of order. If you watch the deleted scenes from "Gay Witch Hunt" (the premiere) Karen thinks of Jim as kind of a Dwight-type suck-up and even plays a Jim-type prank on him. In "The Coup" she seems to kind of like him when playing "Call of Duty", but then again in "Grief Counseling", she acts kind of cool towards him until he helps her find some chips.

Pam and Jim seemed more comfortable. Jim and Karen seemed like it took more effort. In real life it was Jim and Karen that dated though, which is kinda weird since their on screen chemistry doesn't seem to blend well. But it's just a show and they were never meant to be.
