My suggestion: watch it with people you know (roommate, girlfriend, husband, dharma brother/sister, whatever) . . . see what their response is . . . and what your response to their response is.
That might tell you what's next for you in respect to it . . .
This is a great video and these interviews are so helpful. There are stages and I have never heard Shinzen claim to be enlightened, on the contrary. But he is pretty far a long which is clarity in leading others makes that clear to me any way :-)
When he says that it never went away at the end, is he kinda saying that while he's sitting there and talking to Stephanie, he perceives her as himself? :)
I'd like to know if the sense of oneness is always there, during his daily life. Does it seriously never disappear? Are there at least shifts in its intensity or is it always at a constant level?
And if I'm imagining it correctly, how come he's not distracted by the extreme awesomeness of everything in that state? Did he get used to it?
If I may give it a shot, my response to your questions are:
yes. but not the 'her' i hear you imagining. remember his previous talks, in Buddhism you break down, or learn the parts of self. The essence. So, yes, her essential self is his essential self. Not her external self, as you see it physically.
never and does your sense of ______ (fill in the blank), lets say smell, always remain constant?
Got enlightenment may not be the best phrasing, but I did have a dramatic breakthrough after 4 years of practice similar to the ones described in the testimonials published in Kapleau Roshis classic work Three Pillars of Zen.
This . . . has a variety of levels of subtlety.

At least it sounds like he says he got a certain stage of enlightenment. Cool. I like hearing that folks actually get the fruit!
