I have never seen clips of MSU before today, so i'm just looking and thinking this is going to be an interesting game from the standpoint of the bands. JSU plays 10 marches and about 10 traditional ballads and about 20 spirit songs and about 60 pop songs a year. You'll see at the game... all without flip folders.
It's because the music book/folder at MSU used contain 70+ songs, not counting cheers. It's rediculous the amount of music they hand out and want to play at each game. There is no way you could memorize every song!

You know, the whole rivalry between State and Ole Miss is fun, and I'm all for it, but the Ole Miss fans at the last Egg Bowl were fucking assholes. It's just a football game.
Both fans are like and and you're naive to think otherwise. There is a difference in class in the band though. The Ole Miss band didn't chant "State Sucks" and "Go to hell State" on their way into and out of the stadium.
If this was an embarrassment, may I ask why people were cheering for us after we were done playing? It's also funny to note that the cheering was louder than most of the plays that the football team makes.
I enjoy playing this and I love the crowd response. It keeps everyone in good spirits if we're doing poorly during the game. Not an embarrassment at all.

I personally thought the cowbell guys were funny if not simply as an homage to the SNL skit - but I'm also biased because I knew the guys doing it. :) -- Either way I've always enjoyed the separateness of the Football Team/Band Relationship: Even if the team is bombing bigtime the band still plays. :)
