Has anyone tried these in more quiet/softer playing? I have a 19" AAXtreme china (LOUD) but need a softer, more subtle china for other settings. I was thinking a 16" DH since I need the low pitch and wash of larger size, but was hoping it would have less volume.
I play 2 of these a 16" and a 14" they are excellent value for money. I was playing sabian AAX china,s and got rid of em in favour of these china,s. Loud, fast attack and quick decay, the perfect accent tool for me. The 18" was a little more raw.
it sound surprisingly good! i was expecting to watch this and slag it off. but i hav to say i am very surprised at its sound. but i hav a friend who had a Stagg double bass pedal and that was ok but it was nakered now he has a Mapex one and it is much better. it goes for everything else i own by Stagg including guitar picks mic stands drumsticks drum pedals guitar amps all either are rubbish or brake! so yeah the cymbal has a very good sound but will probably brake in a few months. Peace.
not quite, stagg hardware and drums are indeed CRAP and break easily, but i must assure you, their cymbals are quality, in sound and alloy (even looks)
you'll also see stagg cymbals aren't as cheap as you'll think they are, cheaper than most other high end cymbals yes, but still not dirt-cheap
depends on your taste, i prefer staggs, i still don't get why they are so underrated, cause they are cheap?? sometimes stagg makes amazing cymbals, and their splashes, *drrrooool*
whuan china's are nice to, but you gotta hear them first, they tend to have different sounds even for the same china type's
my drum teacher bought one, he got it really cheap because there was a crack in the side, so he cut off the crack (it was easy coz the cymbal was so thin) and it still sounds amazing. really nice trashy sound =]
Purchased one of these today, and I think I'm in love.
