Assuming the E60 setup was 400hp, both these gens have 400hp. This is very telling that the E60 did POORLY compared with its predecessor in acceleration. The E39 4.9L V8 engine peak torque is 369 lb/ft @ 3900rpm and the E60's 5.0L V10, 382 @ 6100. So, the E60 might be weaker at lower rpm than the E39. Also, the E60 is heavier than the E39 due to stricter safety standards. It looks like we're going BACKWARDS!!

@lostwill86 electronics will help normaly, maybe it's lighter but it has (normally if it's stock) 100hp less so it make 4.35 kilos/hp for the V8 and 3.5 for the V10, the e 60 has lauch control (the e39 hasen't if my memory is good) so the only answer is the man who drives the V10 is a donkey or elisabeth 2 and i'm sure she must make better!!!

The e39 runs the quarter in 13 flat. The e60 will run low 12's with the 7speed flappy paddle and 12.6 with the six speed. The E39 had a great run and the e60? The driver was somewhere else. He should have one even if not by a whole lot.

E39's look wayyyy more aggressive than E60's and are a better car overall. Fuck the Semi auto gearbox, i want a real 6spd with three pedals! Plus, even if both were stock, the E39 is far more torquey and has a broader power band, where as the E60 is all top end and doesnt start to make power until the E39 has hit 2nd. So these could very well be close to stock...
