powerbost sucks, I hate comcast faking their speeds, this onely improves your speed for a very short time. Docsis 3.0 is the way to go you will get real speed.
@gir489 Yes, the difference between 1.1 and 2.0 is the upload speed. The downstream is not changed between 1.1 and 2.0. If your cable provider decides to upgrade to 2.0, then you could see more upload speed if they decide to increase your speeds.
They should bring comcast to the Philippines. I have 1mb download and 384kbps upload. It sucks for us. We pay for the price of a 15mbit connection but we only get 1mbps.
this is not spam for people who wanna see faster then 100mbps internet connection copy and paste this or click my profile I REPEAT THIS IS NOT SPAM THIS IS TO SPREAD WHAT faster then 100mbps connection looks like! /watch?v=Uyu-F3iNQzo im not trying to spam ya blue.. i just wanna show you my virtual pc is a little faster on the Speed ! lol
This is great, but it seems to have issues getting over 200mbps in some places, lol. I'm surprised you didn't make this video a responce on my D3 video because thats where the speed is, this was before D3 was deployed in CO.
Guy's, research "Power Boost" That's the reason you're getting 30+ Mbps. It gives you extra speed for the first few seconds of a download. Power Boost is also enabled for the upload.
So, Power Boost only works for the first few seconds? Then what? So, if you're downloading huge files then Power Boost is useless? Does it slow back down again after the first few seconds? I just signed up with Comcast and that's why all the questions. Thank You.
thats impossible in a DOCSIS 2.0 network. The max speed per 6MHz DOCSIS 2.0 downstream channel is 38megabits/sec, so either the speed test is wrong, your running in a DOCSIS 3.0 system with a new DOCSIS 3.0 modem (in which case 47mbps is slow) or you have two modems bonded together, in which case 47mbps is still slow. Also, check out my DOCSIS 3.0 video where I top 120mbps, and it legit ;)
Actually that's not impossible at all. The maximum bandwidth per 6 MHz channel is roughly 48Mbps, not 38Mbps. While DOCSIS 3.0 enables channel bonding, which is why you are able to see speeds over 100Mbps. Keep in mind, if you subscribe to Comcast you are also seeing the PowerBoost come into play when downloading files over 10MB giving you an extra burst of up to 12Mbps.
@y0urlastdemise You might want to reconsider where you get your info from as that is not correct.
Wikipedia - "All three versions of the DOCSIS standard support a downstream throughput of up to 42.88 Mbit/s per channel with 256-QAM" (Then you remove the overhead and end up with 38Mb/sec of usable speed). This has been confirmed too many times to count, do some research.
EuroDOCSIS has an 8 MHz channel width and allows for speeds upto 50Mb/sec, but that is irrelevant.
@y0urlastdemise While I do agree that Wikipedia is not normally a source of info, the information on Wikipedia is confirmed by a quick trip to the CableLabs website. The class you are in is teaching the wrong info, at least for the DOCSIS standard in the US. Go do some research on the net, prove me wrong (with several links to known websites in the industry). If you can prove it I will tell Wikipedia, CableLabs, Cable Techs, MSO's and all the Modem/CMTS manufactures they are doing it wrong...
Then yea, you better not check out my DOCSIS 3.0 video... it will just make you hate mexico even more. I think the prices are so high because data connections aren't cheap there, or your ISP is just greedy...
im confudsed on what to get i have comcast but i want the fastest do i need to buy a 1.1 or 2.0 or 3.0

@theov3rmind So your stealing bandwidth...
Of course your going to have a faster modem if its hacked, but this is a legit modem that has not been modified.

Docsis 2.0 has a max dl rate of 38 megabits and a max ul rate of 27 megabits it depends on the area and the provisioned speed

Is 32Mbps the most DOCSIS 2.0 can do?
I'm on DOCSIS 1.1 and I get about 32 to the closest speedtest server.

Yes, it goes away after a few seconds, then your speed should drop down to whatever tier you signed up for.
