  • What an inspiration! I had the privilege of seeing her at the annual Easter Bonnet contests at the New Amsterdam Theatre. She was a real show stopper and the audiences adored her. I also remember that she cared for her ailing younger brother when she was well into her 90s.

  • A great tribute... I remember so fondly catching this adorable number on the Late, Late Show... I think this is from "Street Girl (1929)... What a thrill... Thanks for uploading this... She was somethin' else...

  • I truly inspirational lady...more than just a Ziegfield girl. Read her biography ("Century Girl") to learn what a varied and vibrant life she lead...

  • I only stumbled onto this video a year ago, while searching for old tyme music... and learned of Doris... and I tought what a gal!!!! Next time I look here, she is gone... =( I ... have no words.. just tears!

  • Beautiful tribute! I was so sad to hear that she passed. What a very interesting life she must have led. So many greats in the entertainment industry she'd seen and worked with. Also, to have been able to see how things 'changed' so much from the days when she made her debut, must have been fascinating! Wow! Rest in Peace Doris and Thank You for the years of entertainment.

  • RIP Doris Eaton - May you dance the Charleston forever in heaven with the angels!

  • What a remarkable woman and a TRULY remarkable life she had lived! I was so devasted to hear of her death!!! May she rest in peace!!

  • What an amazing woman she was. What a huge lose this must be to her family. My deepest condolences. May she rest in peace.

  • The morphing back and forth from youth to aged to youth again is brilliant! I hope more people do that for other dancers and singers and actors ... the three-way-morph is the BEST !

  • she musta had some great oints upstair. a long life and the health to enjoy it

  • R. I. P. Doris 5-12-2010 You were one amazing woman.

  • Doris passed away yesterday. She was 106. Rest in peace Doris. God bless you.

  • Doris passed away yesterday at the age of 106. RiP Doris. God bless you.

  • I was shocked when I read on wikipedia she passed away yesterday that leaves only Barbara Kent, Miriam Seegar, Carla Laemmle and Lupita Tovar.

The news of her death comes just a few hours after the news of Lena Horne's.

  • Doris passed away yesterday, I am naturally deeply moved by her death. She can now join her other 6 siblings and dance forever as an angel in heaven.

It was my hope that Doris could live to be 110 and gain more fame and have another book written about her but Doris is gone now she will be in my heart forever.

  • Doris is so lovely. I am actually producing a tv program celebrating the music Tin Pan Alley (where I live in NYC!). Our finale will be the song "A Pretty Girl is Like a Melody" which Doris helped introduce in the 1919 follies.

  • I'm going over to see Doris right now and I will mention about the tv program. I am sure she will love hearing about it.

  • That's wonderful! Please give her my regards. I know friends of hers at the Ziegfeld Club here in NYC of which Doris is the honorary President.

  • My husband and I have the honor of being invited to Doris' 106th birthday party. She is such an amazing, endearing woman and we are so blessed to know her and be her neighbor here in West Bloomfield, Michigan.

  • I am amazed that at her age she carries herself like a very much younger woman...she is such an inspiration!

  • wow, I'm really glad that someone who performed in the 1910s is gonna be around in the new decade..

  • Fabulous video. It does justice to the wonderful performing artist Doris Eaton, who, by the way, is tops in my book.

  • Being a mere sprig (at 64) I nonetheless love this music more than an other. My father was born in 1899 and my mother in 1906. He died in 1970 but my mum made it to 1999! She would have loved this. You do marvelous work Aaron, please keep it up!

  • This is a WONDERFUL video - a perfect tribute to an amazing woman - great job!

  • Doris is amazing. I get the honor of seeing her every week. I actually get the honor of dancing with her because i am one of her ballroom instructors at Arthur Murray Dance Studio. She is a true inspiration to me. I cant believe seeing her move and still be able to dance at 105!!!!!!! I hope i make it nearly as long. I will try and post a video response soon to show how amazing she still is

  • @casperflyboi

Wow!! Please do send us a recent clip!! Tell her we LOVE her!! I have an autographed color photographer studio portrait of her sister Mary Eaton from the 1920's.

  • I so enjoyed your video of Doris -- then and now. My friend recently gave me the book, Century Girl: 100 Years in the Life of Doris Eaton Travis (the last living girl of Ziegfeld Follies). What a book! Simply fascinating reading ..... that's why I was so delighted to find your video of her. Your work is soooo good, please continue to tantalize us with your work!

  • This is my aunt's aunt...I am happy to see her sing and dance!

  • U go Doris!!!! ;)

  • wow, she's 105 and still going?! that's amazing :D

  • Love her!

  • LAla dumdumdumdum bam trum :D

  • She sings very well

  • THANKS for this CLASSY tribute to a CLASSY LADY!!!

  • This beautiful woman is a very grand & lovely lady.

Lauren Redniss's book proved that, the book itself is very well written and visually captivating.

I hope Doris can live forever, Doris Eaton and Elizabeth Taylor are the 2 most beautiful living woman. Godesses. Women. Ladies. Legends.

  • 14th of March 2014 Doris Eaton Travis turns 110.

She is by this stage the first supercentenarian actor ever!! That is of course that Johannes Heesters does'nt steal that title first.

  • The 7 little Eatons:

    Robert Eaton (1896-1935)

    Mary Eaton (1901-1948)

    Pearl Eaton (1898-1958)

    Evelyn Eaton (1894-1980)

    Joseph Eaton (1905-1998)

    Charles Eaton (1910-2004)

    Doris Eaton (1904- Currently 105!!

  • She never cease to amaze me, her dancing is probably the secret to her longevity. 105 fantastic.

  • She will be the second supercentenarian to have a book published on her life.

She will hold the record for being the first actress or actor for that matter to reach 110!

(But Only if she lives another 5 Years)

Considering her age, this remarkable woman is remarkably active!!

  • Lauren Redniss is planning a follow up to the "Century Girl" book. If Doris lives to 110 it will be published and it will be called "The Supercentenarian Girl: 110 Years in the life of Doris Eaton Travis!! So I hope she makes it!! Good Luck Doris (presently 105)

  • Aaron, she is absolutely wonderful! Thank you so much for putting this on and sharing footage of Doris Eaton Travis from a film I never knew she was in. I had never seen her dance in the 1920s and have her lovely book, which she was so kind to autograph when I posted it to her. She even sent a thank you card that said, "Thanks for your interest in this ol' Ziegfeld girl." She's just a dream and remarkable both on and off the stage. Thank you again, Aaron, for being a Class Act.

  • MG!!! You made discover somenthing wonderful! Thank u for posting this video!!! Thank u so much!!

  • Just saw Doris last week at the Broadway Cares/Equity fights AIDS show dancing "Balling the Jack" with the Billy Elliot company She brought down the house! Huge standing ovation. She is an inspiration to aging gracefully. Like the Energizer Bunny she keeps going and going and....

  • I still can't get over the amazing life this living legend has had!

She holds the Guiness World Record for the Worlds oldest female performer world wide!

105!! if she lives another 5 years, she will attain supercentenarian status!

  • This is so GREAT ! FABULOUS ! Thanks for this video.

  • I'm glad someone's still alive who performed even before the 1920's! There are so many questions I wish I could ask her...

My great- grandmother was born in 1900, but she died when I was 6 years old and I wasn't interested in the 1920's yet...

  • She performed with "Barbara Kent" who is also still alive at 102!

  • She outlived her other 6 siblings, offended Henry Ford & was the original performer of "Singing in the rain" currently 105 years old!

  • WOW!

I wonder if she knew a flapper name Pearl from Washington DC area.

Pearl was my mothers next door neighbor and she was very old, and wanted to give me her flapper gear, and dummy me said no. what was I thinking!

  • How Awesome! Just think, of all the people in that film clip of her from 29', she's the only one still alive! If someone had told her then that she live to be 104+ do you think she'd have believed it. =) Keep on kicking Doris! What a wonderful and fun life you must have had living through the Roaring 20's!

  • Impressive to see Eaton, and thank you for this brilliantly edited presentation!

  • Wonderful video Aaron, a real beauty~!!!!

And BRAVO to Doris Eaton, who can dance on the age of 104???? GREAT!!!

  • Get out your dancing shoes. That aerobic exercise kept this lovely lady's heart fit all these years!

  • Wonderful indeed. I particulary enjoyed the fade in and out from young to old..lovely!! 5*

  • Another eccentric video clip, very classy. Great lady!!! What is the song used in the background?

  • Mark Britt and his Orchestra playing 'Sadness Will Be Gladness' (1928)

  • Ah I see you've seen it already. Ignore my message then. Fantastic she's still dancing at 104. Where does Aaron find these. Has he a time machine and keeps popping back to the twenties to find gems.

  • phenomenal. this made me so happy. thank you for making and posting!

  • Great job!! I love Doris Eaton. She's an inspiration to many.

  • Thank you for putting this up. That was beautiful.

  • What a wonderful job Aaron. Thanks so much for this.
