she dreamt she would build a home right next to her childhood home and move back to Romania.She only saw her parents again after 16 years of leaving the country and brought them to see her in Italy and it was happy times..

the people who were there to meet me..I loved you at once like you were my family...I have no sisters or brothers, but I have friends from childhood.

These days, I'm totally free, no more courses to teach, no more singing..some knee pain, some soul pain, but still have courage and I want to reach 100 years old..

(she is in her home town, meets people, they say they waited for her).She has no words how it felt to be back home, visit her parents house,the church, the graveyard

Never considered cosmetic surgery.It would be absurd to not have my face anymore.

Instead I saw my face changind, relaxing, different but I'm still alive and feel such hapiness to be back in Romania at my age..-at the airport: I barelymade it back, I'm very emotional, I cannot speak..I'm so emotional now...to return to the country I left 64 years ago..I missed the smells from my home town, the dirt, the grass that Ihaven't found anywhere else..

but it would have been wrong! i'm not condemning people who show they are stars, tha's nice, but personally, I liked to dress nice..nut that's it!

R: Did beauty help you?Z: Maybe on stage..beauty is relative, beautiful is what one person likes..but maybe because I was atttractive on stage..generally I would sing with great dedication trying to express the most I could..Beauty can come and go and fade.I've never thought about beauty, maybe now at 85 that I'm older,

After singing in New Zealand...it's said that people called their country for a while Zeaniland..Pavarotti in a letter about Zeani: It was a great experience to sing along side Virginia Zeani.Ilearned so much from her intensity, dedication to art, her extraordinary musicality.I sang with great pleausre with her especially from my debut! Z: All my life I was discreet! Never showed off, never full of myself! maybe only on stage, doing my duty...not because it wasnt in me, but

Z: I sang in London 1953 with an Italian company in the Queen's honour (her coronation). In an article 1and a half years ago in Opera Journal, London, A musicologist Tolanski wrote about me and I thought they still remember me! He called me: a discreet legend!R: were you proud of being a Romanian?

Z: very proud!Whenever newspapers would mention me they would say: Virginia Zeani born in Romania...

R: Virginia Zeani charmed people with her voice on all great world stages MIlan, rome, NY.
