@tubeneophyte Because we were caught in a rip tide and after we lost the first board we didnt have enough coordination to paddle in on 1 board. And not to mention we were over a hundred yards out at the waves were 13 feet at 9 seconds...
@seechrisrun024 Understandable, caught in a rip in windy short period, steep 13ft @ 9 seconds waves with one of two without a board would be ugly. Nice of he with a board to have stuck around aiding friend with the floatation. And for he with a board the desire to paddle in likely quickly evaporated once helicopter = safer way home was above.
why not paddle in?

The other kid still in the ocean on the boogie board is my brother. His rescue was amazing, too bad they did not show that one also.
