My childhood best friend and I once rewrote the lyrics to this, making is as nonsensical as possible. "Blue is the color of the red red rose" was the opening line and it only got more ridiculous from there. Good times. Where are you Kevin?
Thank God for the Internet. I love being able to type in a couple of words from music that i grew up on as a child, but don't remember the name or the artist of. Then being able to find it and listen to it again. Thank you Jesus.
@eggnogonthebog You don't have to wish you had the Holy Spirit, my friend. All you need to do is ask Jesus and He will send the Holy Spirit to you Himself. He will fill your heart with His beautiful light; make a home with you forever. Just ask Him by faith to receive the Holy Spirit.....believe that He will do it, and it will be done. Then watch for the beautiful changes in your life. Bless you, eggnogonthebog; I'm going to pray for you.

@eggnogonthebog You can have the mind of Christ if you like...and here another song for you from Petra: i don't have much to offer you i dont have much to give there's so much i may never be as long as i may live And i may never be all i want to be But if you choose me to use me There is one reason why I am available I am available I will go when you say go I will stop when you say no.... God bless you humble one!
thanks so much for posting this song. i danced to it at my very first dance recital when i was 5 years old-- i wore a white dress with a blue sash, because i was playing the blue heart. :)

I don't know what trolling is (in DC universe, controllers are commonly refered to as "trolls", is this what you mean?)
But yeah - I have no need to believe in a god, I don't have a problem with those who do - just like to be me. What one believes is so often relative to the area in which one was raised and brought up. History has also shown us that man has a way of villainizing the previous god to encourage worship of the new god. Lucifer used to be god: Luminus.
@newloser Trolling is purposely baiting people online, like going to a Christian video and posting something you think will get a response.... but you're not telling the truth (e.g. you don't care about Petra's music) and all you really want is to start an argument or debate for the sake of it. From your answer it seems you're not trolling, in fact you sound like a decent person. I'm probably over-suspicious, sorry. Once bitten twice shy. I'll be praying for you, because God does exist :)
My mother before she died had all of petra soundtrack, now I am finding some of her favorites on youtrube to honor her. Mother Angela, i know your watching me from a Heavens, may your strengh protects me.
In all honesty, I'm not a big fan of Christian music, but that doesn't mean I'm not a fan of the man the music is about. However, this is one of the few songs I'll sit and listen to. I even had it on CD one time, and I played it for my brother, who loved it so much, that he had it played at a church function some years ago, and the congregation, which I was a part of, loved it. What a great song by Petra. I wish them a happy, and well-deserved retirement.

I'm only 21 but have fond memories when I was about 5 of riding with my dad on his way to seminary blasting Petra :) "Somebody's gonna praise His name! Somebody's gonna call Him Lord! It'll either be you or me orrrrr it's gonna be a rock and a tree. Somebody, somewhere is gonna praise HIS NAME!!!!"
The images that were put to this song are so beautiful and moving.......lovely.....Praise God!!! .....Did EdenFiles really write this song? How fantastic!!!

If you're serious: Perhaps the deceiver, or lack of good counselors around you, did some damage. Jesus took all that damage on the cross! Now that you're older, can you recognize the Rescuer and the horrible suffering He went thru for you? Because He loves you.
Just type in "Walk with me Whitecross" in the search bar on top and click on the second one down which shows the lyrics, and the best rendition of the song.
hey, i think this such a beautiful song! I very recently came back to jesus, and am rediscovering all the wonderful music out there again! Praise the Lord!
wonderful!!! I;ve been looking for this song for the longest time!!! i remember this from about 20 years ago!!!! is it still available somewhere? thank you for posting!!!!
I grew up on Petra and Rich Mullins. I love coming back and listening to these songs. These guys knew how to do it. I feel like too many Christian bands want to play it safe and not be overly Christian with their music anymore. They ought to come back to their roots.
oh dear blue is my favorite color and since ive been saved ive worried my hearts cold cause its hard for me to really focus on Jesus :( i hope my hearts not cold
Jer 29:11 I know the plans that I have for you, declares the LORD. They are plans for peace and not disaster, plans to give you a future filled with hope.
Jer 29:12 Then you will call to me. You will come and pray to me, and I will hear you.
Jer 29:13 When you look for me, you will find me. When you wholeheartedly seek me,
This is absolutelly lovely: a sweet song about the greatest man who ever lived in this earth, whose death brought us live in his name! May all the world hear this story and know the amazing grace of our Lord!
@clitweed There is also a powerful movie called CARMAN: THE CHAMPION, with music by Skillet and Living Sacrifice, featuring Carman as a boxer on a mission.
Who put this montage together!? I love it. Especially since I wrote this song! In '72, I was a newly rescued hippie, working in a factory with colors all around. I asked Jesus for a witness tune for children & for scholars that might be profoundly simple & simply profound. We played it in our band from Indy called E (71-74). Our singer GregXVolz took it to Petra later & my, how God's used it! Just reading all these comments from believers, seekers & kids makes me cry... & thank Jesus forever.
really ! thats amazing,, i belive it couse god works miracles thrue us and some times when we are so close to him after being saved from our distruction we feel something so wondefull we put our harts in to giving something back so great it spills on to the rest of us !! thank you for giving this song to us ! we our so great full ! god bless you !!
@TheEdenFiles --wow, that is something to get a post from the guy who actually wrote this song. I have known this song from the mid-80s when I started becoming serious about the things of God. It was an incredible inspiration then and now it still is. Thank you and praise God!
Isn't it amazing how God will use something so simple and yet so meaningful as a song. Thank you for writing it. I grew up listening it when my mom played it.
Thank you so much for writing this song!!! God is soooo good! it is a perfect witness song for Children!! Thank you, & Thank you Father God!! Praise you, love you...Amen!!!
You wrote this? How wonderful to meet you here. This simple but moving song found a way into my blue heart.. May God bless you, I hope you're doing fine. Keep your faith, and stay with God. He has prepared great things for us after this short life. At my 29's I have yet to see the whole picture and completely surrender to God, so we may be on the same side one day when we leave this place. Your song moved me. Kudos to the author of this video too :) Peace and love :)
@TheEdenFiles May God bless you; this song has touched so many people over the years and continues to do so. I loved it when I was in high school and now my daughters have discovered it. Thank you so much for this wonderful gift
@TheEdenFiles - Bless you brother, and thanks sooo very much for writing this song. I too was blessed greatly when Petra came out with this. You got any more?
ok ! i think youre right ! becouse i used a magnifing glass to see it ! its a hammer and a chisel! now please some one tell me why does he have them? i really whant to know !
It's a hammer and nail. The picture is probably off a tract, the guy is holding a hammer and nail to represent his sins - which put Jesus on the cross.
I wish I could remember who makes the tract but there is another one with a whole bunch of people around the cross with hammers and nails. It's just an illustration meant to draw attention to each person's individual responsibility for Christ's death. He died for everyone's sins - so in effect we all put him up there.
yess ! it makes alot of sense, thank you for the responce..... it makes so much sense , we as people all have sins we need to adress and the hammerand nail simbelices that but we also have to remember that we naild the lord to the cross and that is our truth ! thank you so much my friend god bless you !
While I have given up on religion, I will always love this song. It gives me chills. The last frame is the most powerful of them all and I hope it comes true some day.
thank you god for helping me when my life waz in the wrong path ! you never left me and helped me find my way back to you !! and not onece but several times you saved me from my own distruction ! thank you jesus christ !
i found this song by looking at a person page, and some wrote on there page, i like the petra coloring song, and i clicked on it, so its a good thing that, that person wrote that comment there, lolz, cuz me like it kewl!
That's funny. I love the song but yes, it does have a little Sesame Street to it. Graverobber, GREATNESS. Saw DeGarmo and Key in concert in mid 80's, was great. How about 'Water Grave'. Blessings
My childhood best friend and I once rewrote the lyrics to this, making is as nonsensical as possible. "Blue is the color of the red red rose" was the opening line and it only got more ridiculous from there. Good times. Where are you Kevin?

The contract entered into with any god of your choosing is very simple and always the same.
You agree that one day you must die to go and be with your god.
That is the pact that is made.
No one said you had to die but your god.
Death is eternity in the Sun, the blazing lake of fire, where all excess energy in this Solar System is drawn by gravitational pull.
This includes human life force energy when released from the body at death.
Therefore it is unwise to follow the religious to god.

i love this song, it meant allot to me when i first became a christian. thank God for the internet now I can listen to all of my favourites

I grew up on Petra and Rich Mullins. I love coming back and listening to these songs. These guys knew how to do it. I feel like too many Christian bands want to play it safe and not be overly Christian with their music anymore. They ought to come back to their roots.

Kudos to the author of this video too :) Peace and love :)

ok ! i think youre right ! becouse i used a magnifing glass to see it ! its a hammer and a chisel! now please some one tell me why does he have them? i really whant to know !
TANKDOGTROOPS 2 years ago
It's a hammer and nail. The picture is probably off a tract, the guy is holding a hammer and nail to represent his sins - which put Jesus on the cross.
I wish I could remember who makes the tract but there is another one with a whole bunch of people around the cross with hammers and nails. It's just an illustration meant to draw attention to each person's individual responsibility for Christ's death. He died for everyone's sins - so in effect we all put him up there.
Hope that helped.
ioncewasdead 2 years ago 3
yess ! it makes alot of sense, thank you for the responce..... it makes so much sense , we as people all have sins we need to adress and the hammerand nail simbelices that but we also have to remember that we naild the lord to the cross and that is our truth ! thank you so much my friend god bless you !

OK> this is a beautiful song. I have loved Petra for a VERY long time. SO I don't mean to criticize when I say...
Does anyone else have flashbacks to Sesame Street "We all live in a Capital I" when you hear this song?
:)
My fav Petra song is definitely Graverobber. Hands down.
Thanks for posting this stuff. Do you also remember Farrell and Farrell, DeGarmo and Key, and Whiteheart?
musicimprovedme 2 years ago
That's funny. I love the song but yes, it does have a little Sesame Street to it. Graverobber, GREATNESS. Saw DeGarmo and Key in concert in mid 80's, was great. How about 'Water Grave'. Blessings

David Eden wrote this when him and Greg X. Volz were with "E", a very early '70s christian "rock" band from the Indianapolis area!
