Oracle is understood to be concentrating on the development of Solaris 11 as a propitiatory system.Openindiana it is hoped will be making their first release shortly based on Opensolaris open source code and focused on the server market.
This project is now been put on hold by Oracle following the take over of Sun.A number of new communities are springing up to carry on its developmemt such as ios dubbed SONUS,other distros include Nexenta,Storm OS etc.Time scale for next release uncertain but hoped to be before the end of 2010
