The main road through Newbury has been turned into a pedestrian precinct, except that if you dare to walk in the roadway you are subjected to harrasment from the cyclists and buses that still ligitimateley use it as a main road.
Parking prices are very resonable, but don't be surprised to have to try two or even three car parks before findon a space. There is however a marked increas in the number of night clubs, and the associated vadalism.
"The Marsh" was actually a scruffy area of surface car parking and derelict backlots which will hardly be missed.
This is a much better use of the land which will provide much needed new homes and attract alot more business into the town. Unlike the Oracle and Festival Place it will be an area of proper streets more in keeping with Newbury's character. What's wrong with that?
WBC has one of the highest council tax rates in the country, and it's shocking to see how it's spent. This is nothing new, however the scale of their stupidity has reached new heights.
The Park Way shopping centre is baffling; Newbury can barely fill the shop premises it already has, and with more people using the internet to shop, it's only going to get worse. And if it does succeed, it'll turn the town into traffic jam hell.
Come to your senses WBC, West Berks doesn't need another Reading.

Don't mistake change with improvement.

You are confusing The Marsh with the later Parkway area.
Some people confuse change with progess.
