It is a beautiful piece. Sergio Ortega was an extraordinary song composer. Now, about the variations, despite they are really beautiful in a very typical classical piano sound, sometimes i don't see the necessity of alternate such slow and rapid sections in a logical order.

This is a chilean song from the time of Salvador Allende's goverment(1970-1973), it was composed by the Chilean band Quilapayun, the chorus was then took in all Latinamerica, Spain and english-speaking countries for demonstrations (el pueblo unido jamas sera vencido= People united will never be defeated)

I LOVE this piece! Everytime I hear the theme at beginning & reprise, it brings tears to my eyes -- and all the superhuman fantasy that comes in between! One of the great sets of variations for piano, it deserves a place of honor with past masterpieces by Beethoven, Brahms, et al. Thanks for this!
