Im sorry to feel this way, but I could never take a fat dietician seriously and would not want to see one for advice/treatment (like the one at 38 seconds). Even if they were very knowledgeable.
@crewchamp13 I'm aiming to become a dietitian and I like to keep fit, probably for the same reason in your comment. I think that it's only fair to make sure your own diet and fitness is good if your going to advise others on theirs.
I am an RD, LD. You do see more females in the field, but males are also in the profession. I feel males have an advantage when looking for a professional job.
I have friends who are RD's - it is not an easy degree to obtain. Lots of Science courses ie. Chemistry, Bio-chemistry, etc. not mention, an internship and a very vigorous work schedule afterwards
Forgot to mention the science classes mentioned below are just prerequisites to the principles of nutrition/advanced nutrition and medical nutrition therapy (disease) classes that are required for the dietetic degree. Other subjects include food service business management, food sanitation, statistics, food science technology, psychology, counseling, teaching, etc. If interested in pursuing the dietetics profession, check out the American Dietetic Association website for more info.
Being a RD is just not about planning menus and everybody thinks it is easy degree to acquire.. It is scientific oriented. Any B.S. nutrition/dietetics degree involves chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, human anatomy &physiology. Those classes alone turn off many freshman and they go to a easy degree such as communications. In addition, a rigorous internship plus a national registration exam is a requirement for RD status.
your full of shit, that job you need 4 years of university and must obtain a degree not just going to college stupid, also it's a very very hard job 2 get.
I think so. Most videos I see with dieticians are women. I´m a guy and I have though about becoming a dietican or nutritionist beause I´m interested in health. I want to work in or maybe open my own health /supplement store.
Of course it's not a 'girl's job' (though a large majority of dietitians are women). Martin Yadrick, a registered dietitian, happens to be president of the American Dietetic Association.
It's a female dominated job, but there also male dietitians. One example is Mr. Martin Yadrick. He was 2007 ADA (American Dietetic Association) president. Most of the male Dietitians work in the foodservice industry.
That's what I was thinking too. I told my academic advisor that I wanted to major in dietitecs and his eye brows raised, chuckled, and at me like what..why? Look at the pay! It's good and the class work is a breeze!!
