naja find ich jetz persönlich nicht so, hört sich ziemlich unterschiedlich an. Nur schon weil Epica viel mehr von Klassik inspiriert und Nightwish von Film-Soundtracks. Nightwish spielen sowieso in ner Liga für sich und ich denke niemand wird je an die Genialität von Nightwish kommen. Epica sind nicht schlecht aber sie übertreibens mit bombast und uneingänglichkeit

The bombastic sound is the point in epicas musik. This is epica cause its still epic. And it´s symphonic metal in all ways. And I think most people doesn´t want to hear more bands playing the mainstream sounding stuff like nightwish plays now.

In fact you can´t compare both, cause they´re all diffrent and this is good.

I really don't like grunting in symphonic metal either. Usually the male vocalists can't really do it properly and it just clashes. I do like that Nightwish has male vocals though, because Marco harmonises well with Tarja/Annette, wish it was used more in the genre. Besides the grunting, amazing song and band.

Well, grunting/soprano style is fairly common in gothic metal. And Epica started out as a gothic act. And they still sort of are.

This type of music and female-fronted bands are perfect, I think, if they just didn't have the guy grunting and sounding like Satan!! It takes away from the music; it doesn't add to it ! It's almost enough to ruin the songs for me! I prefer the bands that don't have the guy doing background vocals so much, like Nightwish.

and evanescence and paramore and guano apes and within temptation. besides nightwish, only rock bands seem to fulfill your musical taste.
