Attended George Benson's concert at the Kennedy Center last night. He performed a tribute to one of his idols; Mr. Nat King Cole. He played over 20 Cole songs and 10 of his own. The National Orchestra played 10 Cole songs and two of Benson's. it was fantastic of the National Orchestra to perform on this song. The only songs they didn't back Benson on were "Love Ballad" and "On Broadway" (which featured a drum solo). If Benson comes to your town, get a ticket. You'll be glad you did.
Ahhhhhh, youthful memories are evoked now.....of times listening to my brothers vinyl collection andbeing introduced to such classic tunes - this is only one of very many!! Simply smooh as silk....Thank you to Bobby Womack for the composition and thank you George Benson for the performance,,,,,
Isn't the aptly-named LP of the same name STILL the best-selling jazz album EVER?! On more than a few occasions, I've heard DJs/other musicians say this took modern jazz into the mainstream.
@333KAW "Isn't the aptly-named LP of the same name STILL the best-selling jazz album EVER?!"
No....Songbird by Kenny is. However Breezin is the 1st Jazz album to ever go platinum and did hold the best selling jazz album of all time title until Songbird.
One of the most ageless albums...ever. There is a reason Bobby Womack is known simply as The Poet. There were reasons why Benson's version was more popular than Gabor Szabo's: Claus Olgerman, Ronnie Foster, Harvey Mason, Phil Upchurch, Stanley Banks and Ralph MacDonald. That group came together at the right time, right place and the right album.
allan, this is the jazz piecemaster I talked about, it sounds so smooth, the melody of this guitar, deeply touches the heart, Do you remember this prelude?? George benson and his guitar!!! y con un negro con tamaña verga dandome por el chcikito wow ohhhhhhhhhh ahhhhhh
Bobby Woamck wrote the song. and still gets royalties from this album. andd every time george sings it in concert. there would be no breezin without bobby womack.PERIOD
Someone here said 'the original'. Eh? The original was performed by Gabor Szabo and Bobby Womack and written by BW. The GB version is great but doesn't get near 'the original'.
And who could forget this timeless classic from 1976? This song still brings back so many great memories from childhood...like taking long trips with my parents cross country while they changed military assignments. Thank you for posting

@hahaitzhaha Ah, yes, JAZZ, one of the most beautiful and most versatile genres in music, and George Benson's version of "Breezin' " is a prime example. Beautiful and timeless...
@crystalislamee No, not in the original...maybe a year or two ago, George Benson teamed up with Al Jarreau and rerecorded this song and they added lyrics to it...and if I'm not mistaken, Al and George sang it together
this song gives me goose pimples! I get nostalgic for Coney Island and the days that my parents used to take my sisters, brother and myself to Coney Island...FUN! Thank you migno65.
