  • You forgot the safety cage to catch the PVC blade shards when they fly apart in a strong wind. You could kill someone with this thing. PVC is fine for plumbing, but highly dangerous for wind turbine blades.

  • hi what do u power with it?

  • It is funny how these people give you everything EXCEPT blade dimensions.

  • i need to make one put a very small one...maybe like 10cm tall

  • CAN like this wind türbine rolling the car alternator. because cars are using 4 horse power for to roll an alternator.

  • great job!!! what's the music you put in the video? I love it!

  • Hey there.

    Thanx for making this video.

    Nice wind turbine

Keep up the good work man :)

  • excellent. your doing great!

  • In the end, did you see an improvement with 3 blades vs 2 blades?

  • yes and no they a both start about the same the 3 blade has a bit more tork

  • Can i use fan motor and make wind turbine to make energy?

  • Comment removed

  • alternator car battery used and you have free electricity in your house

  • uhhhhh ok?

  • nice setup you should be happy with the 3 blades

  • Hi nice wind turbine can you put the turbine higher or do need planing perrmission? keep up the good work!

  • Hi there! Regarding the number of blades and rpm - in theory the number is not the issue, but the area they cover. Some have made turbines with ONE blade (and a counter weight). Three is the magic number in big commercial turbines because of the wind flow around the tower. Two or four is fine on a small diy one. Here in Denmark you can see big turbines almost from any spot you are - it's the future in windy places!

  • Have read that you shouldn't mount any kind of wind turbine on a structure because of vibrations, just wondering if you have had any problems in this regard considering it looks to be mounted on your home.

  • Yes vibration would be a problem. soon after that video I put the turbine on a 20 foot 4x4 in the back yard. check out" turbine on a stick" video

    Good luck And have fun

  • Hi,

I'm building my own wind turbine and need to know more about what type of alternator to use. Baring in mind that I'm a student and poor, so if possible could you recommend a cheap alternator.

Would a solenoid work to generate a voltage?

    Thanks for any tips!

  • depending on the size you could go to the schools surplus area and look for an old printer motor or old real to real or anything DC

Stop by good will and see if they have an old tread mill. find a motor put a volt meter on it and spin it. good luck

  • DC is the answer. Thanks!

My design is small and compact VAWT. Made of metal. it's about 12 inches tall and spins on an old skate wheel baring. Basically made of junk. I'll post a video if I get a decent output from it.

    :o)

  • Good work! Enjoyed.

  • well that was a complete waste of time

  • 5 volts? Which kind of generator are you using?

  • I would love to try something similar do you by chance share your design or plans on the interent?? thanks

  • I don't have any plans for the turbine I just put it together one night the blades you can find plans for all over the net. if you look at my firs pvc tubine video you can see the bearing set up. all the pipe is scedglel 40 pvc and the body is a conduit junction box for a genie, use what ever you can find that will fit in side. as far as final resalts I don't have any. I am surronded by trees

  • What was the final result??

  • the result where only about 5 volt at aprox 120 rpm.

I have installed a 5 to 1 up step that I will post soon.

  • hey man, very cool stuff!

can u show us how u built it?

oh, and i can see that its not very well atached to the roof and moves a bit.. u should try to make it stronger on the post or in the atactchment ;D

  • If you look at my channel I have another video that has me assembling it.

The blades are 6"scd 40 pvc, the body is a service splice box, a threaded 3/8" rod for the shaft, the rest is 2" pvc.

oh and the tail is 1/4" ply.

the final result was, It go's around : )
