@viceisthename, American is by Leonard Bernstein (who did the musicfamous conductor) and by lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The music is from an American Musical, later made into a film; (a then) modern day setting of Romeo and Juliet in New York city.
See the Movie, America is a witty and is spiked with biting comments about the US.
West Side Story ran for 732 performances (a successful run for the time), before going on tour.
Thanks for the cool upload! It is hard to hear Ringo, I wish it was just him singing! Is there any on the record that just has lead vocal by Ringo? Because now that would be cool! :)
Nope, There's only 5 songs in this CD. And the only reason they were able to record this record was because of Brian Epstein. It was his way of making it up to them for taking Ringo away from them.
So is that really Ringo singing with them? If he was already taken away from the group, is it really him? Now I'm lost, do any of the songs have Ringo on them?
This song 'America' was recorded sometime in 1964, Ringo was already in The Beatles by that time. The other four songs were recorded in sometime in1963 Ringo is not involved in any of those.
Rory Storm and The Hurricanes lasted a few years after Ringo Left so basically this line up of the Band is post-Ringo era,
So I wonder why it says he sings on this one. That is kind of weird. I know that he joined in 1962, so it's pretty confusing. lol Thanks for all the info though!! I appreciate it!!
Ringo made the right choice to join the Beatles
