Few songs make me choke back tears as much as this one does. What a true and honest song - if not Card, then this tells the story of millions of others.
I try to hug my kids every day. This song bring tears to my eyes, but the message of this song is amazing. We often are what we are because of our pain. Some choose allow this pain to make them bitter. Others will embrace Gods hand in the pain and become amazing for him.
@cfollowerforever yes I agree. The way he paints God is just so wonderful. There's a sense of wonderment and awe in his music not found elsewhere with the newer stuff people sing.
I too, heard him do this in concert in NJ several years ago. He said it was a special song that he would not record, but only sing live. He said many people were asking him to record it and he wouldn't, but I was pleased when he finally did. It's a heartbreaking song but such a reminder that "God never wastes pain." I remember distinctly him saying that in concert before he sang it. :)
My dad absolutely loves Michael Card! The only songs my dad listens to/plays on his guitar is Michael's stuff. I've even met him twice in Concert! His music has played a pivotal role in my life. <3
This explains so much to me about Michael Card. His words that say that is is what has made him to be the man he is today is sooo true and a truly deep and spiritual response from this man I admire so much.
I just agree with all of the wonderful remarks written here! In Christ's Agape Love, BobbyK
