  • I love t rex they are one of my favorite bands but the description is wrong bowie is better then t rex

  • @jth112 just opinionsbut I agree with you :)

  • I hated curls and short guys but Marc changed my mind :) beautiful song

  • T Rex was straight 50's Rock!

  • This is the most beautiful thing i have ever seen

  • Awesome song. A few time later, Marc left us :/

  • wonderfull x

  • Terrific song! RIP Marc.

  • love the music, voice, hair...

  • favorite tumbs up and im my list!

  • The keyboard player doesn't have a forehead...he has a fivehead.

  • is that pete townsend on guitar?

  • @oldhacks Is not Townsend. This is the last T. Rex line-up with Dino Dines on keyboards, Miller Anderson on guitar and backing vox and the fantastic rythm section with Tony Newman on drums and Herbie Flowers on bass who previously played with Bowie on Diamond Dogs and Lou Reed om Transformer.

Cheers from Spain of an old boogie lover.

  • @h34th3n looks and sounds like him :p

  • ROY FUCKING NORTH AS I LIVE & BREATHE!!

  • not that anyone was worthy to appear on stage with marc...... but the organ player wasnt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I LOVE MB and Tyrannosaurus Rex!

  • He died shortly after....He was my Teen-Age idol.......By now every member of T.Rex has all passed away...........All too young.....

  • Keep a little Marc in your heart

  • This song seems to take on an added meaning since his death. He definitely is a dandy in the underworld! :D

  • IT is amazing that "Get it on" Still to thsi day sounds as modern as ANYTHING out there. What a great song and recording.

  • T. Rex rocked the 70s

    totaly love them :D

  • Keep a little Marc in your heart.

  • Rest in peace Marc. Love you forever.

  • Another brilliant solo from Marc Bolan, Rest in peace Marc

  • Awesome, never saw this footage, thanks a TON for the upload!

  • I'm pretty sure Marc's glad he left such a good looking corpse. Don't mean to be rude, but he's still with us and has never grown old. I'm 56 now, and I sure don't look like the pretty young thing I once was. Glad to be here, but I think Marc's smiling down on all of us!

  • @leeleebaby2100 i think Marc would have hated the idea of getting old and the chance of loosing his good looks,i agree i too believe he is very happy sending us all his love and thanx for still keeping his memory alive!

  • I think its more that Depp looks like him, this was Bolan back to his best.

Keep a little macro in your heart.

  • very funny he's smiling at 2:39, wonder why

  • if they ever do a movie about this guy, they should get johnny depp. he looks like depp in this clip.

  • 0:39 omg is that pete townshend!?!?!

  • @guitafire no it's Miller Anderson, a very respected musician from Scotland.

  • @hearditman oh it sure looks like him

  • Marc died five years to the day before I was born. I see it only fitting that I play Electric Warrior in his memory every birthday. A truly gifted musician who should be appreciated on both sides of the pond and around the world.

  • looks like drugs have worn this warrior.

  • @SEAN1983PHEANIS No,at this particular point in his career he was coming back from the drug/brandy days. He is singing live....... something he couldn't really do that well circa 73-74. This is rehabilitated Bolan and rockin.

  • Bolan's eye makeup here is flawless! His hair is pretty rad, too.

  • legend of a man r.i.p marc

  • Im 16 and if music today was this good i still wouldnt listen to it

like Bob Segar said "Todays music ain't got the same soul i like that old time rock n roll"

    RIP marc

  • I feel the same way about T Rex as Morrissey does about The Dolls. A band or artist that simply captures you and can never do wrong in ones awestruck eyes.

  • Happy Birthday, Marc. Forever 29- forever beautiful, and forever missed!

  • He is sexxxy. <3

  • Man Music Today Has Nothing on Marc Bolan. Im 18 and I was brought up with his music and He's always been my favourite

  • still sends a shiver down my spine

  • This man never needed backup singers. Totally amazing vox!

  • why does this remind me of SYD BARRETT in the apples and oranges video?

  • he was a legend, he was helping a lot of punk bands get on TV with his Marc show and would have been punks Godfather...so tragic, but the legend lives on

  • Good song and good solo but the chorus sounds like Chas and Dave.

  • When he looks into the camera at 3:02, it feels like he's looking you right in the eye and singing just for you...such a performer...such a tragic, tragic loss.

  • RIP Sebastian Horsley.

  • hey he changed a word in thead of saying cocaine nights he said t rex nights.

  • This is my absolute favorite video- listen to it atleast once everyday! Thank you! thank you ! thank you!

  • Is that an IBanez he's playing?

  • I think the old T.rex line up was way better than this late T.rex

  • i can totaly see jack white covering this

  • @HelloFizzy Jack White is okay...but he aint got 1/100th of the talent of Marc Bolan!

  • Comment removed

  • Ringo Starr liked him ...and so did I.. nuff said.

  • miss ya marc

  • Played this today in memory of brother Roy Trueman who passed away April 7th 2010.

Doubt you ever heard this song Roy..but you know me.

    Love you brother, RIP Mick.

    Alright...............

  • awesome video- a rare treat! Such a beautiful man, a great talent- so sad he had to leave us. Thanks so much for sharing.

  • So david bowie is erm i dunno.. inspired by.. lets say that.

  • One of the best live performances I've seen of Bolan. He definitely gave meaning to the phrase 'Bigger than life'!

  • Amazing too because he was about 5'4".

  • 2010 STILL HOT!

  • too beautiful to live ... too young to die ...

  • beautiful marc,wish you were still here,love you x

  • god he's so cool.

  • Oh its sooo sad Marc would die not long after this performance, what makes it even more sad is that Marc and T rex were in the process of working their way back up to the top.

  • @mrtamberineman123 ACTUALLY YES, HE DIED 2 WEEKS AFTER HE PLAYED WITH BOWIE AT A TV SHOW.... AND THIS SONG WAS FROM HIS LAST RECORD.... HE WAS GOING TO BE ON THE TOP AGAIN.. AFTER HE WENT DOWN BECAUSE OF COCAINE PROBLEMS!!!!!!

  • @mrtamberineman123 Yeah, it's the most unfair thing EVER! He would be with us today, if it weren't for that Gloria Jones...

  • @classicrockfan555 It was an accident kiddo. It was acceptable, in those days, to drink and drive. They were both drinking that night and both made the decision that Gloria would drive home. She cannot be held responsible. It was unfair for both of them.

  • @hearditman I know it was an accident, but she was the one who could actually drive. I'm going to blame it on the tree for getting in the way.

  • great song!!! i love that solo

  • Which year?

  • 1977

  • change is a monster, and changing is hard.

    man, i love you guys.

  • Bowie played sax for T-Rex at one time.

  • R u avin a larf?

  • Bowie and Bolan were roommates at one time. They had a long history of sitting in with each other's bands.

  • ccooll

  • bet if they ever make a movie about him they'l lget jonny depp to play him

  • They'd better hurry up then as Johnny Depp is getting too old to play Bolan. He reall did look like him though in Sleepy Hollow!

  • What was the name of the tv show?

And of course, great song. Thanks for posting it!

  • Gypsy Explorer

  • It are sweet songs T.Rex !

  • "dandy" song... wonderful marc...love it!!!

  • Can't help but notice he changed "cocaine" to "teenage."

    Same thing, really.

  • "t. rex", not "teenage"

  • could not use cocaine for the single or it would have been banned

  • Are you sure? "Rebel Rebel" was well before this, and there's a mention of quaaludes. Clapton put out "Cocaine" not long after.

  • Yes. when Bolan wrote the lyrics he put a note on the sheet to change cocaine nights to T.Rex nights on the single.

  • Hmm. I'd just assumed he was censoring himself for this younger crowd.

  • You are correct, my friend.

  • TRex very cool in the 70's and it was he filled an era in musical history I will remember when I'm 80xoxox

  • Mark Bolan (TRex) was very sexy!!! RE 70's and I watch these vids now and he still gives me shiver's.

  • bolanthfcmod44

why do you care so much bout how they look they can all play real good

  • You're wrong because these peeps are very well known session musicians, worked with Bowie and others before. But yes they had no charm or sexual appeal or whatever to appear in a rockband

  • dont get me wrong i am a HUGE t rex fan but i think apart from marc bolan everyone else looks like thay could be from any old band for example at 0:42look at the guitarist and drummer and at 1:19 look at the bloke on the keyboard it looks like marc has gone through the yellow pages and found them and they have never heard of t rex it is a shame...

but hey i still fucking LOVE T REX!!!!!!

  • simpley the best frontman there ever was! listen to lifes a gas if ur relationship breaks up bein dumped never sounded so beautiful

  • he was a star,,,what a voice, i always thought that this backing band were'nt right for him ..only by their looks..i would run home from school in 1977 to watch the marc bolan show and i thought his band were a bit boring for him as he was so flambouant

  • It suck the old T.rex was replaced with this. It's still quite good but the old T.rex was the best. Marc, Billy, Mickey and Steve

  • I know what u mean mate but I kinda like this band, Mickey Finn was well u know , window dressing.

  • What a song for a kiddie showI No way can they have any idea what he's singing about. Do you think their parent's were thrilled that their kids idoled a coke head binge drinker? I'm always amazed at how performers can give such a performance before a group of little kids - amazing - or before a small group/empty studio. I also never understood why his audience was mainly 15 to 16 years olds ( from what I've heard from his interviews, ect...), at least at the concerts, what's not to like?

  • It must have really got to him/the group that their core audience were teenies/young girls. THANKS FOR POSTING THIS LIVE PERFORMANCE! I almost always find the live non-studio polished versions more enjoyable, and the visuals don't hurt either. Still makes me sad to think he died so young and in such a violent way.. Too bad the "MARC" show tapes were re-recorded on/erased (what I've read) - what fool made that decision???

  • Time is passing by... Nowadays 15/16 years olds listen songs without meaning or simple lyrics...

  • Not true, i'm 16 and I listen to all this clasic music because its far better than the rubbish being made today by untalented drama queens who only get a contrat because tey appeared on some stupid reality tv show...

  • Agreed, I'm 14, and I hate most modern music. Bring back the 70's!

  • @helene05 amen

  • @helene05 AMEN!

  • @helene05 amen that!,i'm also 16 and ridiculed for liking this brilliant stuff. Dappy and P diddy whasisface prancing around embarrasing themselves chanting inanely to naff and souless riffs really doesn't do it for me :) so much respect for you, not enough people have the balls to stand up against the herd :)

  • @helene05 same, I'm 15 and I prefer so much that music. (is helene your name? mine is helena xD)

  • @helene05 hi have followed marc from the beginning and totaly agee with your coments he is just quality

  • now i know where adam ant got it. great song!

  • This song is amazing... it would probably be my most faviourite bolan song... such a pity that he died within weeks of a big tour for this album..dandy in the underworld.....its sad to think that this beautiful genius within months would be dead after this performence.......this song is such an autobiographical song, i commend him on changing the lyrics from "cocaine nights" and with this album especially this song utilising a more prominant backing vocalist to enhance the song

  • kewl song, kewl kids

  • Shame this excellent performance was wasted on a kids tv show with Basil Brushes sidekick!

  • Great performance, Marc was an amazing musician!

I miss him so much although I was born years after his death

  • OHH BOLAN I'TS A FUCKING GENIUS

  • Bolan is gorgeous here.

  • das ist der Lieblings song meines Engel

  • It's a gas, man, it's a stone gas!

  • This is one of my favorite T Rex videos on youtube. I've watched it so many times. I love this song, and the lyrics are amazing. And Marc looks so cool here.

Was this on a children's tv show?! The audience looks super young.

  • Had to come back to this tune ,because it's realy GREAT !!!

    So thanx again,for sharing !!!

    VERY BEST REGARDS,FROM HERE !!!

  • marc is still the future in rock n roll, he was shaped for...... rip 77

    best wishes from peru

  • A great singer, songwriter and musician! He is sorely missed.

  • Maybe the reason the record flopped was that it sounds like he's singing "Dandy in the Underwear". The BBC doesn't take kindly to allusions to naughty bits.

  • he is gread..

  • Admire this song !!

    So Thanx for sharing !!

Must admit, that from my opinion,Marc looks tired somehow !!

    In the beginning,almost "uninspired" somehow!!

Then it "turned out" to be a great performance!!

    So Thanx again !!

    Just Great !!!"

  • quite a "cool" differential span between marc and his keyboardist

  • but hes good enough to be in T-Rex isnt he? Id be happy to see him with The Forgotten Rebels

  • oh of course, great keyboard. i just thought, how cool marc looked was overwhelming

  • Marc made anybody who ever played with him or copied him better.....what a shame to lose him at such a young age

  • this was the last song he did before he died R.I.P. MARC BOLAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • yeah

  • Love that little guitar solo at 1:36, so tasteful and understated, classic Bolan good taste guitar.

  • oh yes! marc have my babies

  • ps love his outfit and shoes

  • 2:40 great smile : D

  • hahahhahahaha , i was asking myself if there was an ACTUALLY live video of t-rex in the youtube. You had the same problem but you did the right thing , UPLODE IT !

    THANX !!!!

  • Wow spiritofblake wonderful words

  • This song sends me shivering. He just looks like he *knows* this is the real swan song. It's really beautiful that he went on such a high note though. I can just see this elfin dandy donning this same garb, forever singing fine rock and roll tunes to sly-eyed nymphs, mesmerised maenads, and long-dead lovers in some strange world down under

  • I loved him from "Ride a White Swan" in 1970 and saw him in his Dandy in the Underwold tour in Manchester with the Damned as support in 1977 only weeks before his death and he was as good then as he had ever been. Will always love u Marc - I just know you're making them boogie up their. See ya some day.

  • R I P MARC

  • Wow, Devendra Banhart has turned into a T. Rex knock-off. I never even realized it till now. If you don't know who Devendra Banhart is disregard this comment.

And find out who he is after you do disregard it.

  • he was a brilliant shining star...its a rare voice that, the vibrato (worble) in his voice is very hard to do and rare, heard in jamaican 1950's/60's calipso/reggae vocals.. he perfected it, so natural. Thanks for posting :)

  • This video is amazing. One of my favourites and great performance of Marc. Marc looks so confident and well in this..:)

  • Mickey left the band in 1975, primarily as a result of Marc moving heavily into the "electric" sound, and also the addition of Bill Legend as drummer. By 1977, all the original T Rex lineup were gone and Marc was using session players. Marc was cleaned up and repairing broken relationships at the end, but was tragically killed before he could really see those changes through. RIP, beautiful boy. Keeping a little Marc in my heart.

  • Bill Legend was in the band in 1971. Mickey was surplus to requirements in 1975, many thought he was only there as a good looking foil to bolan.

  • Bill was in the band from 70-74. However, Marc started to use him much more heavily as Mickey was sort of getting phased out.

From snippets I've heard from June and others, Marc liked Mickey because he made him laugh, and also as you say, a good-looking foil. IMHO, Marc was plenty good-looking enough and really didn't need that aspect, he just needed great musicians (which he had in Bill).

    XXXXX

  • where is Mickey Finn?

  • By all accounts, Marc had cleaned up completely and was off drugs in the last days. He had been badly mistreated by a fickle music industry, the press, and was sorely disillusioned. I too have noted the profound sadness in his eyes here as well. Dandy In the Underworld is a largely autobiographical song, the lyrics tell it all. Keeping a little Marc in my heart.

  • Was Marc on drugs again the very last few months of his life?

  • Great! But why he look so sad?

  • Man...he could play that guitar and when he smiles his little smile!Miss his badly!

  • This is my alltime favourite T.Rex on the TV performance, live/ Marc looks amazing/ the ending (Cosmic) Rocks.

  • Oh, my, god! When he screaming!

  • depp would be absolutely perfect, everyone who denies it can't seem to really offer up anyone better, just shoot him down

  • "Dandy in the Underworld". Was Marc talking about himself in a pub in Camden Town???

  • is that Pete Townsens

  • Man who said that Depp is going to play BOlan in a movie????????????? I can't find any evidence on the internet!

  • Johnny Depp hysteria aside, Marc Bolan was one of the few true musical geniuses we've been privaledged to share this planet well. He was a great poet, writer AND guitar player. Combine that with an overabundance of charisma and you see why his music will never die.

  • So true. I try to imagine what he would have been doing today..compared to the totally untalented we have today. So goes Buddy Holly, etc. I just heard Jessica Simpson attempt to sing "country". That woman CANNOT sing no matter what the subject and it's a shame that real talent has been lost...for now.

  • Why are so many people against Depp? He plays guitar, sings and as beautiful as Marc would have been in his 40's. It would be an honor for both of them. Depp is a truly fantastic actor, so I don't understand the anger and angst. Sighs, oh well...as Peter Green once wrote.

  • Ditaj, you're right...I am totally of the same opinion as my sister (who just wrote the last three comments by this name). I love Bolan; he just looks so crazy and intoxicated sometimes! But always beautiful in his fantastic, crazy Orpheus of the 70's way.

  • He looks really nice!

    =)

  • Marc will always be my prince.

  • Go fuck yourself.

  • yes

  • can't stop watching. what talent!!

  • Johnny Depp is good for only one thing: playing the 'quirky', 'sexy', 'sensitive' Tim Burton role. Because of Tim Burton people only want to see Depp playing these sort of weirdo cutesy pirate willy wonka roles. I don't take him seriously. To get Depp to play Bolan would be to portray a beautiful artist as another one of these cliched Johnny Depp roles. Marc Bolan would not be seen as Marc Bolan he would be seen as Johnny Depp in another one of his narrow roles. ITS MADNESS.

  • Not true.

  • every one please shut the fuck up about johnny fucking depp being so like marc bolan.

propper toss. depp is unattractive, talentless and he cant do accents properly. his irish accent in chocolat or what ever was laughable.

  • Not true. Depp is beautiful. Bet you're not.

  • Thanks for sharing your narrow definition of beauty with us all. Its nice to know that you are limited to finding touched up celebrities like Depp beautiful. You and your friends probably base your look and your lives on celebrities - YOU NEED TO FREE YOURSELF DESPERATELY, or else go and kiss your Depp posters some more. Who decides what beauty is & why is it limited to celebrity in your little mind? I'm beautiful, same as everyone is in their own way - its called being human and unique. Try it.

  • Furthermore I never said that Depp wasn't a beautif
