Great insight and I agree, to add to your statement, the bionic eye can be seen as a concept as part of the user experience with the brand. Concepts tell a bigger story than just a straight forward "oh hey this is the item, here's what it does"...blah.
4.3" is in fact "So big." for a phone. The Droid X is known by most as the biggest phone on the market. This is not cognitive dissonance inducing unless you know absolutely nothing about cell phones of the past 5 years.
The mechanical eye is not implying that you have to have supervision to use the phone; it is simply Droid's branding.
@mopierotti yeah but its still STUPID as hell to watch a movie on it. "Takes it to a new level" is garbage talk in any aspect. And the biggest phone on the market is exactly the OPPOSITE direction they were going 5 years ago. They are just remarketing the same old shit over and over again.
Phones have NEVER been advertised on their physical size. And they still aren't. Screen size is a different matter though.
5 Years ago "smart phones" were just getting revved up, and could not be very large due to then current market mind-set and hardware prices. As prices have come down, data gotten faster & cheaper, & apps more plentiful, people want bigger screens - just like on a desktop computer.
I have the DROID and just ditched the Iphone, and I can tell you the DROID loads and plays movies much faster than the Iphone only prayed it could match. Watching a movie on Iphone you must be on WiFi but not with the Verizon network and the DROID, Come on Steve Jobs you can do better than you are doing!
I'm getting one too, but to me several of these commercials seem to imply that using the phone will turn you into an android, and I don't think that's the best message for the phone either.
@hgallegos915 you my friend, have been "had" by marketing genious. 2 years ago you were probably "amazed" at how small the new phones were. Pretty funny isnt it? Im just sayin!
I liked this video........Hes just explaining how stuff that's getting sold to us can fool us into buying it.

I came on youtube JUST to bitch about these two commercials.
They are SOOO bad. Predictable, adolescent. It is like they are trying to sell them to first graders... Maybe they are!
