  • Armenian DUDUK Forever::::: p.s.Bravo Yasmin

  • Chorus: I'm a thousand miles from nowhere Time don't matter to me 'Cause I'm a thousand miles from nowhere And there's no place I want to be I got heartaches in my pocket I got echoes in my head And all that I keep hearing Are the cruel things that you said Chorus I've got bruises on my memory I've got tear stains on my hands And in the mirror there's a vision Of what used to be a man Chorus
  • Armenian dydyk

  • She mixes Ladino with Sephardic music but also modern flemenco

  • ♥ one of the most beautiful woman and voice, so great, so good, so right ; i like you !!!

  • ben hayatımda böyle bi ses duymadım arkadaş.. tüylerim diken diken oldu

  • One of the mos beautiful voices I ever hear, sweet strong at the same time. a woman with the voice of an angel.

  • She's like Shakira.... only 1000 times better!! Woooow...

  • @TalinArkishti Shakira fakes it. Yasmin is 100% real and sounds this powerful LIVE.

  • Esta musica no tiene comparacion. se siente muy adentro.

  • respekt........!!!!!!!

  • Great to hear my Armenian brother playing the Tsiranapogh (what became to be called even by Armenians Duduk afther the big Ottoman Occupations, todays Turkey) for one of the Greatest voices in World Music!!!

Tsiranapogh means flute of the abricot tree in Latin for more then 2000 years it is Prumus Armeniaca means Armenian tree wich is the onley original tree where the instrument called duduk must be made from!!!

That s why Eva Rivas Eurovison song Abricot Stone was so special for Armenians!!!

  • siempre me emociona oir a los sefarditas hablar en español. Esta cantante es fantástica, sabe expresar "el duende" de España. Gracias

  • @tenkso its neither latino nor spanish, its ladino -jewish spanish- its a dead language from medieval, jews spoke spanish with some hebrew words but they expelled to ottoman empire, so they exchange words from turkish and greek language. Ladino is not spanish, When I say "El Vapur esta yanasando al iskele" the spanish men wouldnt unterstand any word . Btw. the first part is Ladino, the second part is Aramic language.

    I hope this helps.

  • @Xreals Yasmin, the singer, she is singing in jew spanish, this language is also know as Ladino, the language of the sefardies (Old Jewish inhabitants of Spain) therefore this language is not dead. The jew spanish one is something like that as an old Castilian, an inhabitant from Spain could speak perfectly with a sefardí, some words would be different and they would sound otherwise, but I am from Spain, I have read and heard the Ladino one and I can understand it.

  • only Spanish & Arabic Spanish part Ay mano suave tenia -oh what a soft hand a tocarla nadie se atrevia -nobody dared to touch her Ay madre (oh mom) Su alma le entrego...el Corazon entero gave her soul...the whole heart Arabic part : كل مساء وكل ليل every night & every evening تهدي له بال في عز الليل she gave him attention in the mid-of the night محبة قلبها أعطتها له she gave him the love of her heart من كل قلبها أخلصت له from her heart she was faithful to him Ah yamma - آه يا أمي - oh mom ;D

  • I've been looking for this kind of a music for a long time. Thanks for posting it.

  • ladino

    armenian touch the DUDUC

    and arabic

  • I saw Yasmin Levy play live here in N.Y.C. about a year ago at Symphony Space and she was beyond amazing both in her interpretations & in her transmission of the Ladino culture, brieftly describing the meaning/sentiment/& birth of each of her songs. That night was pure magic & one I hope to revisit soon if she ever makes it back here. Pay close attention, if she is ever around your vicinity go see this woman & her talented musicians!! You will swear you spent 2 hours in a different century. : )

  • einfach nur schön...

  • Judaeo-Spanish (Jewish Spanish) or Ladino is a language derived from Old Spanish heavily influenced by Hebrew and Aramaic

  • Yasmin is so wonderful! I live in hope of a collaboration between she and Sara Baras - ultimate singer and ultimate dancer!

  • amazing armenian duduk - its breathtaking !!!!!!!!!!!

  • She is singing it in Judaeo-Spanish. Commonly known as Ladino. A nearly extinct Romance language.

It is influenced heavily by Hebrew, Aramaic, Arabic, Turkish and a bit of Greek.

  • it is exactly the same spanish that i use,

i dont see any difference betwen ladino and spanish castellan except they use K and X instead of C Q and S!!!

  • @RBDJ818 Right and still spoken today by Jews from the Maghreb, some in Syria and some in America.

  • In the original version Yasmin sings this song in a duet with Natasha Atlas.

  • Супер!!! Мне очень понравилось!!!

  • Wonderful Performance!

  • se iama = qe iOop la tiia xD

  • Aayy, mano suave tenia

    aaay ,tocarla nadie se atrevia...

It's driving me crazy not being able to at least sing along such a song that breaks my heart with its melody and yasmin's spectacular voice!

  • its aramish, i believe you will find any people who speaks this language (its almost dead and its my mother language :( ) even i cannot translate it, but jews should understand it, may be they can translate it

  • Most Assyrians still speak Aramaic.

  • it's not aramaic, it's ladino, the old spanish language

  • there is a part she doesnt speak ladino, she speaks aramaic language,

@tFighterPilot: I know, but there are only a few Assyrians and many of them speaks arabish or turkish and even doesnt speak his own language :(

  • No, Xreals! It's not aramaic, it's arabic. In the original version Yasmin sings this song in a duet with Natasha Atlas. Here she is alone, so she sings also Natashas part.

  • @ojosdebrujoch it is ladino. Ay, mano suave tenia A tocarla, nadie se atrevia Ay, madre, a tocarla, nadie se atrevia Su alma le entrego El Corazon entero Ay madre, el Corazon entero Kulli misa wu-kulli lail Thihdi-l-ubal fi-zzullail Mahabbit albaha iddathalu Min kulli albaha akhlasit lu Ah! yamma I don't speak ladino, so i won't translate this lyrics, but mano suave means tender, soft hands :D

  • Ermeni düdüğü falan değil o enstruman.

  • bu enstrmana hastayım......çok sevdiğim bi enstrmandır...

  • I like this live version better than the album version. I think the engineers used too much compression on the album recordings making her voice too powerful. On another one of her videos i read she committed suicide, but can't find anything about it on google. Does anyone have more information?

  • whats the name of the reed instrument that the guy is using?..

  • i looked it up and it's a duduk, and armenian instrument. if not, it's a zurna.

  • Thanks sooo much!!! wow.. that instrument realy is enchanting...I live in the far east, so i can only see & hear those kind of music here in youtube...

  • Yes, its duduk, an armenian instrument. Zurna its similar to duduk, but its more "cheerfull".

  • Потрясающе!!!

С сожалением узнала, что пропустила концерты в Москве... Осталась призрачная надежда, что они не последние! Удивительная музыка, ни на что не похожая!

  • dudukları o kadar koyu ki,

bir cümlesiyle alıp götürmesinden korkuyorum beni....

  • benide......

  • :)))

  • a 155mm in my heart! Bravo Jasmina, Sarajevo loves you!

  • 2/2 Oh, a black eye she had (in original it is in single) Light and shadow contradicted in it. Over her forehead light was shivered. Childhood's dew is glorious. Oh, mother, childhood's dew is glorious. Oh, and it was evening, and it was night. While a shadow was interfacing another one- Then she gave him her heart. Her heart; she gave to him. Oh, mother, all of her heart she gave to him. Oh, a delicate hand she had.
  • Thanks my friend. Beautiful song, beautiful lyrics. Nowadays I am discovering sefardi music and hebrew folk. Have anything to suggest? Your music is just as wonderful as your people.

  • 1/2

Originally, this is an Israeli (Hebrew) song. Lyrics: Zalman Shneor (1902). Music: Arab-Bedouin folk.

Oh, a delicate hand she had.

    Nobody dared to touch it.

Her pair of lips: scarlet grace.

Only for kisses they were created.

Oh, mother, only for kisses they were created.

  • Does anyone have the lyrics of the song? Can"t find them anywhere.

  • Music at its BEST. WONDERFUL - Makes you travel and FEEL.

  • One listens to this and can only feel how wrong are those like believe in the "Clash of Civilizations"...

  • it touches my heart :-)

  • Very beautiful.

  • it's ladino language, jews who migrated to middle east and anatolia, balkans from spain (the inquisition) 500 years ago. they speak unchangely till now.

  • in Tetouan they still talk in ladino accent and the maghrebi accent from north of morocco, hey are a lot of ladino words. But this music, has a special meaning and Yasmin Levy brings the old culture alive and you can hear that in her sound!!! Thanks I have your cd!! salut

  • wow!!!perfect..

  • beautiful!

  • mano suave, est ce du ladino ? on entend un peu d'espagnol c'est pour ça.

c'est toujours magnifique en tout cas.

    bravo yasmin.

  • I refer to the music, not the background or the words which I don't understand, unfortunately - amazsing music and performance. Brava!

  • yasa be yasmin, anadolu dan ispanya ya , ispanya dan anadoluya bir köpsüsün sen! Sen SINIRLARI yok eden sesinle, insan olusumuzu hatirlatan ezgilerinle, dilini anlamasamda cok seyler anlatan yanik sesinle, inanki güzel bir is yapiyorsun. Seni tanimak ve canli dinlemek dilegiyle... Gönlün ask ve muhabbet dolsun....

  • When i play yasmins music spiritually it takes me back to the golden age of andalusia when the sephardim held court with moors from africa arabs from arabia and the host christian populatin of what is now Spain & Portugal. This music embodies a journey where these dispersed jews encorporated the beauty of other musical expressions into their music to give us what yasmin has blessed us with. We must thank her deeply .

  • thank you you are so right.

  • I saw Yasmin in a film @ the Jewish Film Festival in San Fransisco. She has lost a lot of weight since the documentary was made. I'm happy to see that she has progressed with her singing. In the documentary there was something about flamanco singing might ruin her voval cords, I see it has not....beautiful Sephardi Morenica with a beautiful voice.

  • its called "kejido" and it comes natural to most gypsies, and no it does not ruin your voice unless you are forcing it to sound like a real gypsy :)

  • In case anyone was wondering, I have found out what the oboe like instrument at the begginging is - its a Mey. YAY! i found out!

  • Its not oboe like instrument is a traditional woodwind instrument. Before placing any comments here you should make a better research: the instrument is Duduk, mey is not an instrument, its a toy turkish tried to make while copying this holy Armenian instrument. Duduk is amongst the oldest musical instruments in the world, 3000 years old, and it's is made of apricot wood.

Gee, I'm so happy and grateful that I'm Sephardi, we get along with everyone! Arabic speaking peoples,Greeks, Turks, Lebanese,Spanish speaking people, and Armenians. Sephardis' really understand the meaning of diversity, and how wonderful all cultures are. We have a beautiful culture and so do all the different peoples of the world. Long live diversity, because this is what will one day bring peace.

  • ))) Ye my friend, diversity in culture, life, nature thats what makes our world unique and worth living in. Regrettably not all are capable understanding it...

Lets hope someday there will be peace and respect ))))))

  • mukemmelsin yasmin levy...

you re perfect... what a wonderful voice...

  • she's singing arabic at the end of the songs. it's intersting

  • Does anyone know what is that weird looking flute/clarinet instrument the guy is playing ?

  • That is what i want to know. I have researched a bit and it looks like a Zurna but its too low pitched to be one really! I REALLY WANT TO KNOW... also, it is a type of oboe, not a clarinet or flute, right family though.

  • Someone suggested it might be an Armenia Duduk. Anyone knows?

  • Yes, I also think that it is Armenian duduk...

  • This instrument is called DUDUK, its an ARMENIAN instrument. DUDUK is low pitched tool, mainly played for sad music. For example this instrument is in the "Galdiator" movie and also in "Passion of the Christ" movie. Zurna is a similar instrument like duduk, but (ZURNA) its a high pitched tool. its more for dancing music

  • Great voice
