A players follow through makes no difference to a challenge if...

a.) The ball is won cleanly first..

b.) There is no clear intent to injure an opposing player during the challenge and..

c.) There is no malicious change in a players movement after the ball has been won, whilst on his follow through.

Now obviously the later 2 points are open to Referee's interpretation, and this is the perfect example of a challenge that breaches these 2 points with the player still winning the ball.

Nothing wrong with that. It was one footed, the studs weren't showing, he went for and clearly got the ball. Yes his momentum took him into the other player and his trailing leg tripped the guy up but I cannot see how the tackled player could be in any way hurt.

If you get the ball and your momentum takes you into the player it is not a foul, never mind a sending off! Football isn't like it used to be since all the nancy boys got involved in the mid-90s when it became fashionable.
