@BonePizza Oh, I thought you were referring to Kata's in general. In Shotokan Karate the first Kata we have to learn for the Yellow belt is the Heian.
haha the first kata :) i knew all the heian katas and the katas for black belt( i forgot name knew them like 3 years ago) lovely to c them back gonna practise again:D
why does he speed up on the last two moves of each of the sets facing toward and away from the camera (right before the first ki-ai and before the last 270 turn)? If that's how it's supposed to be done then I know a lot of people doing it wrong.
Hmm...you're right. I was always taught that the 3 age-uke moving forward were done at the same speed. Only the last 2 oi-zuki were done in quick succession.
The JKA is the oldest school of Shotokan Karate. The Pinan/Heian series of katas were derived from the Chiang Nan/Channan kata who was broken down in 5 to be easier to learn. Most Karate types share at least some katas and this series is often used as a great foundation for beginers.
my teacher told me to train thiskata over n over againg -.-

I like the way he moves his head - like he spotted the enemy. :) Are these like official training tapes or what?
