@Duncan33able Basically it's the same idea as chess. There are many difference but it's the easiest way to explain it. Every turn you can move every character one time. They can attack the enemy, heal wounded allies or protect them. There are different classes and each of them has special skills. And as Daviskd94 said the stats are important how much damage you will do and so on

Depending on those stats, you will get a specifice percentage that says what your chances are of hitting the enemy, how much damage you will do, the chance of getting a critical hit, and if you attack only once or twice. The game is turn based strategy. I guess the only way you'll really understand is by playing a Fire Emblem game.
I honestly felt the mass of bosses and characters with nihil made this game less fun. Its a game that gives you all these cool abilities and just stops you from using them :/

@Genecalypse do you hit him near all the time cause it happens to me i hit him directly t hits 5 but when i hit indirectly i hit 15 and after i hit indirecty it doesn't matter if i hit him from near or far it always does 15
@Genecalypse There are four 'Cover' tiles, and if you're on one, you get 10 additional defense. You have to lure the BK off of the cover tile he starts on, and then if your Ike has capped stats, you'll win even if Ike isn't on a cover tile or not.
@Genecalypse After your first attack you can deal more damage, and if you already took in damage from Zelgious you deal more damage. Using Ettard results in less damage on Zelgious but more critical attacks you can deal out, but risks taking in Zelgious's critical attacks. The other results is Ike avoiding more attacks and receiving less damage. Ike is good because his stats make him one of the best well rounded stat units.
At least the man behind the mask is hanesome this time (no homo). Usually when you have mystery people who play an important role of some sort, when they finally reveal themselves they usually look like hobos or hairy internet porn surfers xD

I believe that although this fight is easier, it really demonstrates how strong Ike has become. When you just start playing, the Black knight seems so strong and invincible, until you see your third tier characters in comparison with him.

This is why Ike hated him throught out PoR, and why he wanted to defeat him.
However, the BK wanted to defeat Ike in RD because he had killled Gawain so effortlessly it brought him no satisfaction that he had defeated such an amazing swordsman. So he wanted to fight Gawain's son, Ike . (Who has now become a very formidable swordsman)
There is no real sign of hate in this battle though.
The Black Knight doesn't hate Gawain or his family. He has the utmost respect for his teacher, to the point where he became obsessed with surpassing him. However, he killed Greil effortlessly and found out in PoR that is was because he had crippled himself. He had not fought his teacher at his full power, so he was still unsatisfied. So he waited for Ike, the last man trained by Gawain, to reach his full potential. Ike killed him, but he died knowing that he had reached Greil's skill level.
Why do you think I love him so much? He was the most well thought out and beautifully executed character in Radiant Dawn by far. Even though that isn't saying much, he's still one of my favorite characters of all time.

I don't mean physically, but I think the similarities are there. For one, the characters are very much alike. When you look at the way they interact with the other characters around them, I think they look pretty similar. Plus, people around Ichigo/Ike always comment on how serious he looks, and how his normal facial expression is a frown. I just thought that was an interesting coincidence. Also, that "HYA" sound Ike makes when he attacks the Black Knight sounds to my ear a LOT like Ichigo.
I thought the BK and Darth Vader were similar, but his quote at the end takes the cake. Vader also says "Impressive, most impressive" in episode 5 while fighting Luke. I wonder if this was intentional.
All you need is Ragnell and level 20 Ike with maxed strength, speed and skill and maybe defense and you can own him in 2-3 turns or atleast I can. I have beaten the game four or five times on every difficultly and every time its the same thing Ike kills him in 2-3 turns
This fight is all about terrain if u go attack the BK he will have more def because of the square he is on if you let him attack u you will still be on your def square and he will be defenseless but anyway Ike should be able to kill him
This is part of why I like this series so much. You start off with Ike in PoR being some weakling who can hardly fight, and he eventually gets to the point where he's so good with a sword he could take his father on in his prime. I just love how Ike grows into this ultimate swordsman afterbeing a weak for a long time.
What about Marth, he ran away (by force)and was a puny weakling at the time. Now look at him, he lead the Archanean League to victory ad defeated the Shadow Dragon with Falchion.
so the block you stand on is a defensive square right? so i can equip the Ettard sword i still have and use that until i get the SS lance. This way Ike won't die, but neither will the BK? Let me know if im wrong. I currently on that battle.
i realized that his range is 6 squares. i can walk 9 (7 + boots) so i just out walk him and he cann't get me until i attack him. plus, i cant double him so i get more exp by multi attacking him with Ettard.

Ike can defeat him in PoR, but he doesn't actually die. He's alive when you leave the castle, and apparently survives when it collapses after you get out (he either warps away, or he's just a beast).

Not sure he has any. All he wanted was to surpass Greil and since Griel weakened himself by cutting the tendons from his sword hand,he fought Ike who had the same skills.
You forgot that now the Nihil skill is added,so the Black Knight was weaken much more since he can't use Eclipse.Of cource,Ike can't use Aether,but he doesn't need it agaisnt him.

actually it doesn't really matter, i used the hammer and it did 35 damage.. the BK had 70 damage, and Ike double attacked him which exactly killed him.. but Ike must be a Vanguard lvl 20 in order for that to work..
Not true. If IKE had an "A" level support with one of his allies, he could easily pull off dodging the BK hits and doing 15 damage. And for the double hitting, Ike has amazing speed so he can pretty well hit anyone twice.
Support only takes effect when the characters are within 3 spaces, which wouldn't be the case. So you have to use just Ike alone, no support bonuses. You can't even attack the BK with ranged magic through his barrier.
If you put Ike all the way back to the barrier and have a character stand on the other side the support will work. But its too easy, i miss the B.K. challenge.
Did anyone know that Ike can still go critical even though the Black Knight keeps using "Nihil"? I didn't, but he still pulled it off and I beat him in two turns. It was AWESOME!
I've beaten him once before, but I can't do it again. How exactly do you beat him. I can't remember. He keeps healing at the start of every "enemy phase". Please help me!

Tips for people : Dont remove Ikes (nilhil) ability. and the first time you attack the black night, make sure you do it ranged or you dont get the bonus 10 damage in melee. i dunno why but i spent ages figuring it out.

so the block you stand on is a defensive square right? so i can equip the Ettard sword i still have and use that until i get the SS lance. This way Ike won't die, but neither will the BK? Let me know if im wrong. I currently on that battle.

i realized that his range is 6 squares. i can walk 9 (7 + boots) so i just out walk him and he cann't get me until i attack him. plus, i cant double him so i get more exp by multi attacking him with Ettard.

just stay there and keep healing till u get the ss lance... then if u want to end the battle quickly use the hammer xD

Zelgius was miachiahs freind and her enemy(ironic) and Zelgius is also one of my faviorate chars when he's not the black knight.

helllooo guys!!there's something i don't understand it though..we all know that in PoR ike killed the black knight(as in you will have a chance to battle him)but if u killed him in PoR,how did he actually gt revived??

Ike can defeat him in PoR, but he doesn't actually die. He's alive when you leave the castle, and apparently survives when it collapses after you get out (he either warps away, or he's just a beast).

You asked why didn't the black Knight follow Ike in the last 2 chapters in PoR. It's cause Ike isn't his enemy,just like in RD.

Not sure he has any. All he wanted was to surpass Greil and since Griel weakened himself by cutting the tendons from his sword hand,he fought Ike who had the same skills.

whoa, in PoR, ike was barely able to beat him. if i remember right, the max damage of each was
black knight: 19 dmg, 79% chance for one hit
ike: 9 dmg, 75% chance for one hit.
now here in this fight:
black knight: 19 dmg, 46% chance for one hit
ike: 15 dmg(haha ur still weaker), 100% chance for two hits
its amazing how much stronger ike was made.
black knight didnt really change much.
but in this game, i actually wanted to use him. he was god compared to all enemy soldiers.

You forgot that now the Nihil skill is added,so the Black Knight was weaken much more since he can't use Eclipse.Of cource,Ike can't use Aether,but he doesn't need it agaisnt him.

wow the fight was so unfair for the black knight ike magically went from doing 5 damage to 15 and he was doubling him and The BK hit rate should have been much higher bull all bull the black knight is truly greater

actually it doesn't really matter, i used the hammer and it did 35 damage.. the BK had 70 damage, and Ike double attacked him which exactly killed him.. but Ike must be a Vanguard lvl 20 in order for that to work..

Not true. If IKE had an "A" level support with one of his allies, he could easily pull off dodging the BK hits and doing 15 damage. And for the double hitting, Ike has amazing speed so he can pretty well hit anyone twice.

Support only takes effect when the characters are within 3 spaces, which wouldn't be the case. So you have to use just Ike alone, no support bonuses. You can't even attack the BK with ranged magic through his barrier.

If you put Ike all the way back to the barrier and have a character stand on the other side the support will work. But its too easy, i miss the B.K. challenge.

Did anyone know that Ike can still go critical even though the Black Knight keeps using "Nihil"? I didn't, but he still pulled it off and I beat him in two turns. It was AWESOME!

but actually the voice acting was fine for the majority of the game, in fact, it was the best Fire Emblem i ever played! (though the support convos were suckish and was incredibly hard)

Tips for people : Dont remove Ikes (nilhil) ability. and the first time you attack the black night, make sure you do it ranged or you dont get the bonus 10 damage in melee. i dunno why but i spent ages figuring it out.
