Gustavsson plays similar to Marc Andre Fleury. An with that said, he will get himself out of position, but will also make some of the biggest saves you will ever see. Gustavsson will have a great yr. in the NHL and is a top Goaltender in the World.

PS: I drafted him in my Fantasy League.

not quickly, but if he consistently outperforms vesa i would say they could swap about halfway through.

he makes a lot of his saves because hes so big and when he goes down into the butterfly theres nothing to shoot at, hes not better then luongo, turco, price, broduer, fluery, nothing special.

true he has never played in the NHL, but he had a 2.5 GAA and a .919 save % at the World Championship, and got the starting job over lundqvist there. So whilst he wont be posting .961 save % for Toronto, he will still be good (better than most).

Central Scouting never ranked datsyuk or zetterberg genius. They where both scouted by a guy name Hakan Anderson who took no part in central scouting. Central Scouting had never even seen datsyuk or zetterberg play prior to the draft. If they had, both would have been drafted (and projected) way higher.

No, he's not. Gustafsson is bigger and agile for his size, which is his advantage, but Lundqvist is quicker, has better lateral mobility and alot more experience. Gustafsson is a little bit too sweeping and can get out of position a little bit too easy. The Monster can become NHL elite though and a strong competitor to Lundqvist in Tre Kronor.

idk if others have compared him to any of those goalies but theres no way he would be anything close to brodeur obviously and turco. you also cant really compare him with these two because he bases his game on his size and positioning rather than athleticism. Luongo, price, and even fleury( to a lesser extent) are butterfly goalies who rely on their size, positioning, and percentages to make saves.

He will sign with whatever team gives him the biggest chance to start and out of the 4 teams he has narrowed it down to it's looking like Colorado. Most reports have Toronto as the front-runner because they were the first team looking into him. In no statement that Gustavsson or his agent have have made have they stated that Toronto or Dallas are on the top of his list.

Toronto or Dallas? The Leafs don't even try, they sell out regardless of their sucking, and Dallas has a couple solid prospects after Turco. I hear Foppa has been nudging Jonas towards the Avs. I've also heard that he's interested in San Jose, but how often can he play with Naby starting?

Yes the leafs may be bad, but they can only go up and with Brian Burke as their GM I beleive that in the upcoming years they will be one of the best teams in the league, look at what he has done with Anaheim. Actually you can talk about someone nudging him to Colarado, but I know that Borje Salming has told him about what a great city Toronto is and Burke was in Sweden talking to him during the World Championship. If he wants to go to an upcoming team where he will get called upon it is Toronto.

Huh, hadn't heard the thing about Salming. Toronto would still be a pretty intense place to try to adapt to the NHL, Colorado would definatly be more low key. It seems like any contract he signs would only be for one year anyways, making me think it's more likely he signs somewhere where expectations are not sky high. Plus theres always the (remote)possibility that Roy decides to coach for the Avs.

Yeah for sure, but I think that he wants a 3 year contract as he wants some security in the NHL. He has a lot of talent and I am under the impression that he will be the next Lundqvist if not better, whoever gets him will have a great goaltender, but from what I have heard he is leaning towards Toronto. Plus watching Toskala I don't think he is that good of a goaltender and it wouldn't be out of the question for Jonas to be the starter next year or in the upcoming years.

If he went to Colorado he would automatically be the #1 guy. And he does good, he can be that guy for years to come. With Toronto, it seems like Burke wants Toskala to be the starter and Jonas would be back-up. But maybe that's what Gustavsson wants, to be a back up and play a little bit this year and adjust to the Nhl./. I don't know.. Hopefully the Av's get him.
