jesus guys. its basic physics. pulling and pushing forces. the front of the contraption had less aerodynamic properties than my foot. with nothing to guide the front end directly up the top end was obeying simple gravity, while the bottom was pushing up allk the top wanterd to do is hit the ground, resulting in neither force really winning.
