That's actually what she jokingly called herself regarding some of her later performances of La Fille (the "Grandmother of the Regiment). Nonetheless, I don't think that even these later performances have been equalled to date, either vocally or dramatically.

If as Hako2004 says... she is 57 then this is astonishing...visually not convincing as the Daughter of the Regiment...but vocally ....just as assured as she was many years earlier!!

Fantastic, thank you so much. It is a wonder to hear her still singing like a bird at 57. I loved Kraus's expression at the end, I know he admired Dame Joan very much, as a person and singer.
