Like a podcast this was nice and interesting, but why upload it to youtube? add some images fo what you are talking about if you can, because like this... is a miss oportunity and kind of boring looking at a still image all the time, I know a little about it but I'm not a macross fan and half the time I was looking for images in google to know what you where talking about.
Oh yeah! I also had one of the Beet-Gadol horned beetle toys from Takatoku toys as well... Takatoku also made a toy for a steam locomotive that transformed into a robot, which I believe was called "Sasuraiger." I didn't play with that one much, so the one I have is still in very good condition...
Interesting review. When I was a kid visiting family in Berkeley, CA, I'd save my pennies for months to buy robot toys from Iron Horse 22nd Century Toys on Solano Ave. I wound up with three Takatoku Valkyries-- the 1/55 VF-1S and Hikaru VF-1J (and also the 1/55 full armor) and the 1/100 Max VF-1J. All three are much cherished to this day. I can remember that there was a Takatoku Macross in the shop as well that wasn't for sale, and it had small planes that you could catapult off the flight deck.
@graineag Sounds like me !! I used to drive up to Emeryville , CA from San josento Kimono toys !! Luckily , a guy was walking in Kimono ready to sell his SDF-1 and Super deformed VF-1s..I bought it from him before he entered the store !! I was so happy that day and still have it ! I bought the Takatoku VF-1s from ebay for much more though !! Today I have all these man I love my VF-1s !! I totally understand you! -Good Luck
