  • I agree with @whitbyjet65

  • was thinking of a "greatest first track of first LP" list (e.g., "Tears of Rage", "Runnin With the Devil", 'Radio Free Europe", "Waiting Room"), forgot about this one.

also really great performance, tyvm for uploading

  • Oh, people see no worth in you oh, but I do.

  • I like false teeth, pies made with Stork margarine & copper clips used in the aeronautical industry. Now please excuse me while I go and fart infront of a deaf milkman from Northampton.

  • I was 19 years old when this performance was taped. I had several Smiths albums on cassette tapes (!). I used to listen to them on the way to the Flagler Pier to go surfing. Great music, great memories. Amazing how well this music has stood up over the past 28 years! Thanks lightbox07 for posting this version of this song!

  • I turned 5 on this day in 1983, great live performance, A+ upload, thank you lightbox07!

  • the best song of The Smiths!

  • thank god someone said it.

  • I'm a 15 year old girl listening to this and no i'm not a hipster -revolted face-

i have loved the smiths since the age of 9. stupid hipsters listening to amazing songs like this for street cred.

  • Comment removed

  • to me it's street cred to have an opinion, street cred is not listening to something that you are supposed to listen to (hence this means you have non opinion, and therefore don't think for yourselfe)

  • I was born in 1980 and didn't become a fan until five years ago fuck anyone who says that i am not a true fan.

  • @TheExploitedable - A true fan is anyone who appeciates and loves the music of The Smiths. Whether you followed them from 1983 or onyl heard their music yesterday - it doesn't matter.

  • beautiful.

  • wow. the sound on this is amazing for a live show on VHS. thanks for posting.

  • i love this song aswell

  • This song is so fucking beautiful.

  • " I dreamt about stew last night" ........etched onto the vinyl lol

"Take me to the haven of your bed, Was something that you never said toooo... (two).....lumps please".....lol

This song makes me both Laugh & Cry .

Awesome, Only "Morrissey" solo can compare to the "Smiths"

  • I am undecided as to which Smiths song is the best,

So I just say "All of them"

  • adoro este tema!!!!!!!!

  • i love this song

  • i dreamnt about you last night x

  • superior to the recorded version yes

  • "grab it!"

  • Morrissey is the best! I love to hear him live!!!

  • The best band ever walked upon this fuckin' and miserable planet. period. Apology in advance to all the other bands...... I'M SORRY.........

  • beautiful, this song goes straight to the heart, and it's live, aaaahhh

  • "I dreamt about you last night, fell out of bed twice" was nicked from A Taste of Honey, a Shelagh Delaney play. 'Genius Steals'.... etc. Incidentally a Wilde quote...

Yeah. You can see why I'm a single, smiths fan....*goes back to sit in bedroom with a book*

  • "Oh, people see no worth in you, but I do"

Brilliant, I love you Morrissey <3

  • @rollwithit21 It's better without the "but". The omission of the 'but' gives it its ambiguity.

People see no worth in you. I do.

Do what? see or not see the worth?

  • how could I?

  • Gorgeous

  • This was made 10 years before I born. This is so curious... How could something make so sense after 20 years? Life is always the same for the people who feel like Morrissey.

  • my all time fav song !!

  • Ohhh this song!! remember about a girl who I meet in a bus ... i talk a lot with her everytime when i go in that bus , one of her friends told me that she was dead she was so shy! when i ask about her ... I LOVE to pass those 15 min. with her.

  • LOVE this song! Brilliant

  • "Fifteen minutes with you, I wouldn't say no....." :-)))

  • You can pin and mount me like a butterfly... exquisite....

  • FUCKING B.RI.L.L.I.A.N.T..

  • Two lumps please, you're the bee's knees but so am I.....

  • how i wish i was there!

  • Can someone explain me why the hell I was born only in 1979????? I missed their peak years - and yet, I do fill my soul with all the "absent" oxygen!!!!! THE SMITHS=THE OXYGEN OF MY LUNGS. PERIOD.

  • don't worry , you're just in time !!!

just ten years before , we'have no money, no phone , no authorized to do anything !!

  • In Morrissey's own words these are songs for life and people will be playing them for a long time yet.

  • Thank God you weren't born in 1879. Mozza is still giving us great concerts all over the world. Take advantage! :)

  • The crowd havent got a clue what they're watching.....silly beggers

  • me i'm afraid...

  • "oh people see no worth in you, oh but I do" is really one of the deepest phrase I've listened... and it's so simple. mozz is god

  • Great song

  • thx moz. as always. u give me something that i can listen to over and over and just enjoy!!! VIVA LA MOZ!!!!!!!!!!

  • I watn to die when listening to this song..... when my time is up!

  • bellissimaaaaaaaaa

  • Wrong.

  • 15 minutos con vos!!!!!!!!!!! ^^

  • i was four months old when this was made. great music is timeless. dont trust anyone who doesnt like the smiths.

  • @thereddrums i was like 10 years away from being born and i still love this.

  • @thereddrums Holy crap, i was about 12, the smiths were and are the best band ever. You took this child and made her (feel) old!!!

  • @thereddrums I was 16 it was freeekin brilliant.

  • @thereddrums complete is the word for the band tightness, no weak link.

  • @thereddrums i took your advice, but now i only have 5 friends

  • @stoberto06 I took that advice, and I have 0 friends. No complaints.

  • @thereddrums i was just one month the time this concert happened but i trust some friends who don't like them

  • What a tune.

  • Great love story~!!

  • People see no worth in you, Oh, but I do

    Great song!

  • It was my birthday when this was filmed, I was 5!

  • Love it. Posting to our Ning Community. Much Props.

  • WONDERFUL!

  • I dreamt about you last night

And I fell out of bed twice

You can pin and mount me like a butterfly

  • Great vid, saw them in 1986...btw...this is off-topic, but I'd like to let everyone out there reading this know the Chinese Communist Party has been persecuting 70 million Falun Gong spiritual practitioners for 10 years in China. The media doesn't cover it. It must stop, so they can be free like we are here. Thanks.

  • this is the best song ever period.

  • 15 Minutes With U, Oh I Wouldn't Say No!!!

    ANDY ROURKE <3 <3 <3 <3

  • lo amo es simplemente hermoso!! y a mo esta cancion!!! sniff sniff

    15 minutos con vos......(8)

  • ohmmmm morrissey, is there "somehitng" or "someone" more beautiful???? no, it isnt.... long live the king!!!!

  • the best band!!!the best music!!!

  • Proof that the 'song' is the most important element to a great band.

It is so simple, hardly anything going on, simple drums, simple guitar, simple bass and a strong melody. Just brilliant.

  • amo la guitarra de johnny marr ^__^

  • simplemente hermosa

  • ive been listening to the smiths solidly for 3 years (dont attack me im 18) and im still not bored they are without the best band ever in my mind

theyve got everything a band needs. and more

  • ive been listening to the smiths solidly for 1 year (dont attack me im 14) and im still not bored they are without the best band ever in my mind

theyve got everything a band needs. and more

  • A true Smiths fan is one that was into them from the early 80s or one that started listening to them last week. Both are true fans.

  • You are so right!!!!

I was exposed to the smiths only about a year ago!!! :-((((

hey are definitely the best band in the magical 80's, and on top 5 or 3 of all times, alongside U2, the cure and REM!!!

    Aviad,

    Israel.

  • @steve77london

I wasnt born til 86. That means I'm not a "true Smiths fan"

    Jog on :)

  • @ecnajhpler 'or one that started listening to them last week' ?

  • @steve77london Nice.

  • Everyone with a good opinion on The Smiths know their Onions. Those who have bad opinions prove their knowledge of music is shameful. What they were and meant to music is incredible and im so glad im one of the many who enjoy how great they were!

  • "You can pin and mount me, like a butterfly"

that lyric alone just proves morrissey is a genuis.

  • Agreed!

  • Agreed too!!

  • A massively significant band

  • i'd settle for 15 seconds in morrissey's company!

  • I'm so glad to hear Mike Joyce is doing well. This is a good video but was there Valium put in the bar pints???

  • The Smiths were virtually unknown at this time and the Hacienda attracted a very different crowd than other venues did.

  • What do you mean a different crowd? Hacienda was best night club in England. The Fall, Stone Roses, Jesus nd Mary Chain, Manic Street Preachers, New Order. I'm sure if had good dance floor after a show!!!! Maybe it was a Monday night before Smiths got popular?? wat du u think ellycat??

  • Yeah, you're spot on. It would definitely have been before the Smiths got popular.

I used to be raving on that dance floor come 1989, being a Manc myself.

  • 20 years on, or thereabouts, and still no-one can better the Smiths. Vulnerable in the popular sense, yet inviolable in an almost literal sense - what that 'almost' means, or what obstacle it poses to the Steven-hound, no-one has yet figured out, nor will ever

  • That is so beautiful I almost cried.

  • fuckin fantastic

  • my love for morrissey is now on a whole new level

  • christ morrisey, you look like bloody eraserhead.

  • Thanks allot for posting, Cheers!

  • This song always brings me back...High School, emotional and crying into my pillow listening to this song after school. One of my Favorites of all time. Passion is under- rated.

  • i agree. I m in the same mood

  • Muy buena canción

  • Muy buena canción

  • qué tiempos aquellos 80 !! y qué magníficas canciones!!

  • O si muy buenos

  • oooh I dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Morrissey is an angel sent by God...

  • god is an angel sent by morrissey.end of.

  • Oh lord.

    What a love song.

  • There are three bands that changed my life. The Smiths, The Clash and Radiohead. I was lucky enough to see two of the three, but sadly missed Mozzer and co. The best of a good three.

  • if you are anxious about buying their studio albums, you should be anxious about everything.

  • That was an excellent sarcastic comment. Nice one, as the kids text these days LOL.

  • wow, amazing. I really REALLY want the debut now! I own Singles, a fantastic introduction. I'm anxious to purchase some studio albums!!

  • I met morrissey once, tongue tied and confused, too emotionally inept to converse

  • he was like that or you mean yourself?

  • great song, love him

  • Morrissey is God!

  • Incredible voice. LOVE U MOZ.

  • THIS is their best song. Along with Hand in Glove and There's a light..

  • and "William, it was really nothing"

  • A younger timid Morrissey, oh how he's grown :]

  • Sick song.

  • TUNEEEEEEEEEEEE X

  • Perfect. Saw them in 83 and this sums it up - Morrissey combining confidence with that look of doubt and Johnny Marr playing and looking to the band and the audience. Thanks for this

  • which is kind of funny, considering that morrissey was totally celibate until he turned forty-six.

  • Fantastic!!Always good fun are The Smiths..

  • Another smiths classic. Greatest band the UK has ever produced. What a sound, still unique 20 years later

  • morrissey was accused of condoning child abuse after this song was released.

  • where?

  • in england, after the song was aired on the b.b.c. google it.

  • the sun newspaper.

  • He was first accused because of the song "Suffer Little Children", a song about the Moors Murders in Manchester, and then because of the very mention of the word child, this song was thought to be some sort of pro-abusive statement.

  • I've just realized that I have a friend who looks just like Johnny Marr.

  • This guy is perfect and no one will ever be better!

  • Morrissey's the bees knees, but so am i

  • No you're not.

  • a close second in a world of jesters ....i love him ...but i think henry rollins might have a bit

on him....... maybe not!!!! so fucking compelling!

  • henry who?

  • Ohhh, no you didn't. "Six Pack"? "Nervous Breakdown"? "Jealous Again"?

  • my wedding song, thx Mozza

  • Smiths are the most amazing band in history. The chemistry between Morrissey and Marr will never again be repeated by anyone.

  • Brilliant, powerful and gorgeous. These are the songs that saved my life.

  • My favorite by my favorites.

  • the smith rule the world

  • to bad this crowd doesn't actually understand what the fucks happening to them as he speaks! seesh?!

  • ahah lo ams ♥

  • This band were fantastic and the best ever. Listen to Marr's rhythm on this song at 1.38 and he's only about 20 at the time. Morrissey and Marr were the best writing partnership ever. Even better than The Beatles.

  • 15 minutes with moz..well i wouldn't say no

  • the best band ever!

  • %100 Agreed!

  • O_O <3

    amazing.

  • i dreamt about you last night and fell out of my bed twice:}

  • i was born in '93.

Imagine how i feel :( i missed their whole ara.

  • me too =[ but luckily we've still got mozza and my mum has every single smiths song on vinyl

  • im 38 where does youre mum live.

  • wondrous stuff indeed

  • Why the **** was I born 1988??

It's so unfair that I never got to see the Smiths live.

  • I was born in '89. It makes me sad too. Not only that, but think about how much great music they would have made if they continued on!

  • Wonderful.

I was there that night, and I remember the hacienda floor was covered in flowers - you walked in and it was so sweet scented. The gig was sweet too.

  • I LOVE MORRISSEY!

  • that hair, ah very nice

  • "I dreamt about you last night, and I fell out of bed twice. You can pin and mount me like a butterfly." Some of the best lyrics ever written.

  • agreed

  • The melody is unbeatable

  • One of my best ten

  • A beautiful song, simply beautiful.
