  • The brass part in this song, pulls at my heart strings. I remember playing this song in high school and just listening to it, it carried you a way. You felt moved by the music.

  • I am playing this today with my High School Band for the senior song at graduation.

  • Me and My Other friends Are Playing this With The High school Band At our June concert coming Up.... I Play Bass Clarinet :D

  • moterh of good :O

  • @waterbomb22 haha Srry but that's funny Wat happened to the driver? Jail?

  • we're playing Into The Storm this year in my orchestra! i'm super excited :)

  • now I know what son gI want my band director to get for our big competition this year. Last year we didn't get to compete because one of the bus drivers was drunk and ran a buss off he road. The choir, orchestra and band all didn't get to compete but the bandies took it the hardest, most other people were happy because we could just go straight o cedar point.

  • @serinachambers98- I agree, while it's a very beautiful piece this is the easiest song I played with my orchestra this summer.

  • @ATeddyBearWithRoses Robert W Smith loves natural disasters.

  • Is it possible to pass the recording to me? I played this song a decade ago and it's the only song I remember and don't want to forget.

  • Yeah. I just played this at competition and we got a 1. I am in the 7th grade in band. We only have 26 members. I am a trumpet.:) Great and hard song, bad pictures.

  • With this song my band won first place in the 8th grade division of schools from all over the east coast :D

  • Its good sounding, but if you've ever played it on brass, then it's fking boring for the most part. The same shit repeats over and over....

  • gay pics GRATE SONGG I LUV THEH PARTE WHEAH ET GETZ EPIK AN ITZ DA HOLE SONGGE by the way if you can read that your a genius because i cant.

  • this is a easey song thiz is my first year playing so.....

  • oh. my. God. We're playing this song!

  • Woot Marching band last year it was so good!

  • oh no! haunting memories of marching band my freshman year!! ahhhhh!

  • Haha great song i played gong fo this in my symphony!

  • I have to play this song for my school concert so I thought id look it up. Gosh we sound nothing like this lol. Were horrible.

  • Wow what unfitting pictures, a work which was written to commemorate a storm which ravaged the eastern u.s

  • im only in the seventh grade and my band teacher Mrs. Bryant is making us do this song. Most of us that it was gonna be hard but once u get it its easy and very fun to play!

  • i also played this for region orchestra! 2nd oboe but i deserved 1st...

  • @TheTreeMuncher It doesn't matter how good or better you are than other players. I'm a lead trombone player in the band I'm in, but I prefer playing 2nd or 3rd parts, Because a good band needs good players to play all parts equally. Look if you have 8 trombone players. And say 3 are playing 1st, 2 are playing 2nd, and 3 are playing 3rd. If you have all the best players playing 1st parts, the 2nd and 3rd parts will sound shitty and the song wouldn't sound good.

  • I played this for Reigon Orchestra!! was the 1st Clarinet in the district!! :D I loved this song cuz it were teh pwnage

  • Is that a bassoon that is playing with the piccolo?

Also, this song is just a few notes away from the Great Locomotive Chase...

  • YAY trumpet and baritone D: lol

  • Comment removed

  • I played this piece in 8th grade on 1st clarinet. I loved it!

  • I am the only clarinet in my school band, we are playing this song. I have the Clarinet 1 part, I die everytime since i'm the only one. I have to master breathing out my mouth and in my nose at the same time

  • 4:32 WHOOP WHOOP. That's my dog! I love how random your video is! GREAT SONG

  • This sounds like the tempest buy this really cool guy Robert W. Smith

  • you don't say! you know i bet this song is also composed by Robert W. Smith.

I think it might even be related to the tempest judging by the similarity in both title and composer

  • My school is playing this! I love it so much(:

  • My band played this in 7th grade i also had the picc solo (: (: Love it

  • well we played this piece for our winter concert and i cheesed the piccolo solo at 1:59 but now i have a second chance!!!!! im going to play it perfect!!!!!

  • I love this guys songs, but they all sound pretty much the same! =(

  • My school band is playing this song. For the trombones it's pretty boring. Nice song though.

  • This piece is much faster then i thought !! O_O Im playing the flute partition and its pretty easy but not at that speed we play it a bit slower. oh and I have the Piccolo solo as well ~ its so cuteeeee <3

  • @PuppieLove143 i got the picc solo too and it was gard at first but now i love it!!! good luck to you!!! XD

  • thanks ^^ you to ~

  • we're playing it this fast at my school.....its a fun song......but its tough.i play the clarinet and my band director said that the upper woodwind parts are hard...O_O

  • well the partition itself is easy. Just gotta adapt to the speed. I think clarinet plays a few similar melodies as the flutes. its so awesome x)

  • Oh but it it sooooo much fun. The melody that the flutes play is the same melody that clarinet ones have. Clarinet two and three have it a lot easier...

Either way, it's a blast to play. Have fun!

  • @PuppieLove143 hahaha i have the picc solo too its a fun piece

  • *twitch* This is the first concert piece I play on my cello. I've been playing for about a month... My fingers don't move that fast yet! I switched from trombone to cello... No correlation whatsoever. Haha, wish me luck!

  • What retarded pictures

  • completely STUPID video, awesome song

  • Horrible video but amazing song I'm playing it in band this year

  • were about to play this song in band and i cant wait!

  • i played this song for jh and hs honor band in 8th grade and i play flute and we sounded amazing

  • great song..... performance is good too but dude seriously the visual sucks

  • LOVE this song but idk about the pics...

  • my older sister's band played this but, it was faster. awesome song, though.

  • im playing this for our winter concert and i have to solo on piccolo at 1:59-2:15 and frankly im scared to play it! D:

  • great clip

  • pure musikkk

  • Didn't he also write rites of tamboro

  • amazing song. gay pictures.

  • Wow this song sounds horrible in an symphony. Try listining to this in marching band music version and itll sound amazing.

  • my school's playing this for my senior year. I play bass clarinet.. can you believe it's the only solo part i've ever had in 7 years of playing? haha.

the part at 1:05 sends shivers down my spine.

  • Well there aren't many solo opportunities for bass clarinet haha

  • Im playing this on the cello,

    in 8th grade symphonic (=

  • this sounds alot like the tempest, but still awesom:)

  • the ending sounds ezactly like the tempest ! your right !

  • @MrFraternalTwins your right. but this is a whole bit faster

  • @MrFraternalTwins omg yeah i did the tempest and this one in band haha my friend said that this sounds like the tempest of steroids!

  • @MrFraternalTwins Tempest and Second storm were all based of this song, thats why it sound so familiar

  • All of his songs sound great, but much too similar. Listen to The Inferno and you can tell the painful similarities.

  • I agree completely. It seems like you and I have a lot in common.

  • lol great song... im trying to learn it in my 12 person senior band lol. It's definitely a challenge but first flute is definitely awesome to play... especially at the beginning with the running eighths and sixteenths :P

  • the picture at 2:11 was amazing

  • It's kinda funny how you put random pics that have nothing to do with the music in the video. =P

  • too close to the tempest. still great though

  • I play bassoon on this, which is a very good part. The pics in the video don't fit very well with the music..

  • what is the picture at the beginning with the girls

  • i love the pics

  • I just heard this on the Emmy's tonight. I haven't heard this in forever. I played it back in 1997 for a region band concert performance.

    Great piece!

  • My 9th grade year, I played the Bass Clarinet on this song. Its a good song for Bass Clarinet. I even had a little solo (my first one). That little taste of fame, prompted me to move on to Tenor and Bari Sax and explore Jazz.

    Thank you Robert Smith

  • Hah. I played this in ninth grade on Bass Clarient, too.

  • Haha I'm learning this right now!!

But what sucks is since I play 2nd clarinet part, my part is pretty boring most of the time ... but the whole thing sounds cool xD

  • omg i love this song i played this in 9th grade i play bass clarinet

  • this is one of the most amazing band pieces ever! Gotta love Robert W Smith

  • the pictures of puppies in the middle...that made me laugh XD

  • my all time favorite band song

i played this on my first year of symphonic band

    it was SOO exciting :D

  • love 2:17 - 3:15. so amazing.

  • This used to be my favorite piece...then we played Pilatus: Mountain of Dragons. That blew my mind.

  • Pilatus: Mountain of Dragons is def. one of my favorites. I remember playing it at a band clinic back in '07...I'll never forget it...

  • lol. i love the cat picture.

  • and earlier at 41 sec

  • this is well done. I miss playing it, because I could play my part and so focus on dynamics. Some orchestras overwhelm the bass tune around 1:20.

    I play trumpet

  • I played this in 7th grade. The percussion part especally the toms and timpiani area awsome!!!!!

  • this is a great song

  • just because a band thinks it'z easy doesn't mean they can necissarily to any justice to it, i mean true it'z not highly complex, but it is a good piece to show off the sound of the band and it'z just a great piece

  • it is easy!

my high school band played this for our marching show it was cool

  • when i was in 6th grade we learned this but we didnt put it on because it was too long...i had the solo piccolo part..i cant believe a high school band is playing this...if it was easy for me it has to be easy for you..you guys got it off easy...did the teacher choose the song????

  • you're not really justified in saying that. I mean, so what if you played it? that doesn't mean you were any good. In highschool you can bring more talent into this piece- our band played it for a festival and got outstanding. It's not easy when you want to play it with talent.

  • i can't believe some high school band is playing this. It is so easy. I played this when i was 7th grade. Pssh super easy

  • what's the hardest piece you've ever played? Just curious

  • King Fisher Catch Fire.

  • my marching band is playing this for halftime shows

  • O.O

  • i wanna play this, but it's too hard 4 me as of now

  • Video makes no sense at all

  • the advanced band aT MY SChool played this today for an assembly! they were AWESOME!! REALLY REALLY GOOD!

    the percussion was cool.

  • I've played this, TGLC, the inferno, paradiso, the assention, and through the vulcan's eye

  • It's kind of sad that when you abbreviate The Great Locomotive Chase, everyone knows what you mean.

  • What about Purgatorio? (just curious)

    And it's The Ascension, lol

  • We took part of this for our field show in 08. xD

    Old memoriess

  • Um, just so you know, your smileys are kind of creepy. I would go without them next time.

  • My Highschool is playing this 4 marching band and its freakin awesome especially the Bb clarinet part

  • i played this on trumpet...

    it was awesome :D

  • i played bassoon for this its awsome

  • B E S T band song ever.

  • i have played tempest, appilachian overture, and the inferno

  • appalachian not appilachian

  • one of my friend's, ..his uncle is Robert W. Smith we always tease him because he sux at band!

  • robert w. smith is AHMAZING! ive played tempest, into the storm, and great locomotive chase, these are SO exhilarating to play! i love it!:) except my part was really hard for this song:[

  • Does anyone ever notice the Robert W. Smith's songs sound a lot alike?

  • yeah most of his compositions are based in G minor (B flat major)

plus alot of themhave the same rhythms too.

however i love robert W smith!

  • man that really sounds like an amazing rush <3

  • at my school were learning this song, love it soo much!

  • Clack Middle School Varsity Symphonic Band..... yah we made a one with that one stage at UIL (United Instrumintal League) that was soo awsome! *played by the 8th graders*

  • my middle school concert band is going to hershey park on may 22 to compeat in a festible and this is one of the songs we play.

bye the way hanby is my school

  • My middle school played this song at a competition in Hershey park!!!

  • My middle school all county did this, but no one recorded it. This sounds great, but I dont think some of the pictures match... xD

  • It sounds kind of like "the great locomotive chase" by the same guy

  • You didnt capture the essences of the song at all

  • BEST SONG EVER!!!

    I love playing this song!

  • at 5:03, the timpani isn't strong enough (if there even is one)

or maybe that's just how out band playe it.

  • same here....

  • This is a beautiful piece! I remember playing it when I was in Junior High 6 years ago. I'm in college now, and this is still one of my favorite pieces to perform because of the intensity that comes with it.

I really don't think dolls, puppies, kittens, Winnie the Pooh, and other soft like images fit this song...

  • yeah seriously; what's with the visuals...???

  • THANK YOU!

    Haha

In the arrangement we're playing there are eighth notes instead of whole notes at the beginning. Sounds a lot better.

  • i completely agree, considering the title of the piece... just pointing out that storms and kittens dont exactly fit, ya know?

  • i can see composers have the same style. it sounds just like the tempest but different notes and different rythms here and there. its very similar to the tempest

  • i know, in the beginning it has those accented notes and then the staccatos in middle and the legato notes near the end, almost exactly like the tempest

  • i like it though

  • i have to play this in our band, 8th grade, i play alto sax. i mean its kinda easy, but the tempo is also kinda hard to keep up, but still an awesome song!

  • Grrrr.....I love this song so much...

  • i play guitar and i did hxc break downs

  • This song is enthralling, and I don't think puppies and kittens are the proper images that Robert wanted to portray with this song, but they were so cute to look at! XD

  • i play trumpet. i love this song! it is awesome! i am playing it for my 8th grade spring concert

  • I play Bari sax and its even fun for me.

  • i play flute and my bnd played tis a few years ago it was a good piece

  • i play bass clarinet, and i love this song because i always have boring background parts.

were playing this in my 7th grade band for spring concert

  • we're playing this in band right now! i don't like this song because i have so many rests; i play trombone (: we only have one flute, so she has to play fortissimo x 10, haha.

  • I played that song in an orchestra.awesome musical piece

  • this sounds alot like tempest... lol

  • not really..a few small parts do though lol. probably cuz its written by the same guy. haha

  • IT does lol

  • we're playing this for contest in a few weeks. we go faster then this I think

  • we played this song in our concert band, i play bassoon. didn't really do anything for my. were now playing gustav holst' second suite in F in our symphonic band. its so much better. the only part i liked in into the storm was the slow woodwind part.

  • im so jealous for all the people that got to play this in there band because i always tried to get our director to get it for us and it never happened! atleast we got gustav holst tho!

  • i did this lasy year!!!

  • ohh, i remember playing this last year!

  • My school band did this. Check it out!

  • I just resently played this song in my orchestra class. We played it at contest and got a one on it. It's my favorite song we've done so far this year.

  • I love this song, I played it with my junior high and its so cool to play it with a flute!

  • i miss playing this, i played bassoon and i finally had something to look forward to playing.

  • Im playin this for my highschool band, I love this song :3

  • this is amazing.

  • this was like the best song i ever played.

robert w smith is an amazing composer.

    i love his music.

  • omg same here i played this my 7th grade year and that was prolly the greatest band year ever!

  • I love this song. Our teacher's been picking lame music all year till this one. I play bass clarinet... and I was astonished to be playing almost the same part as the 1st clarinet. Also.. probably the only time i'll ever get a solo in a song. lol

  • i would LOVE to play this at school in my band but does this have any strings?

  • I think so. There's definitely violin in it. Maybe you could look up the sheet music.

  • this is written for a full orchestra...

it would sound less full....but could be done without the strings.

    I have played this before

  • my band played this at state competition and we had no strings

  • my high school band did this for festival, we dont have any strings.

  • im playing this song in my band. this is really good

  • OMG....we playin this in my band

  • the beginning sounds a lot like The Tempest. Lol. I like the slide show and the song. :D
