  • You pick kinda like Wille from LOG.....

  • what kind of guitar is that in the background?

  • Hey would i be better going with two v30s or your combo in my avatar 2x12 cab if i play alot of hard rock and old school metal?

  • you have the weirdest picking technique ive seen :) cool :P

  • try placing the pick on your first knuckle of your picking hand. As if its laying from the first knuckle to the tip of your figure and then angle it about 90 degrees toward your wrist and place your thumb perpendicular across your index finger and use your index and thumb as a rudder. look at my caprice video :)

  • @AdamFrostofficial i think it's okay with his picking technique as long as he grabs the pick fiercy and firmly, Rusty, Friedman and much others have a different picking technique, but what they have in common is the way to grab the pick, FIRMLY.

  • @SHREDDER222X

He needs to find the balance between firm, and very relaxed hand and using his thumb and index finger in a fulcrum motion. If you study how Jason Becker picks in the 5th caprice, it gives very great examples. By resting the pick on the first knuckle of the index finger and laying the thumb across it, you begin to pick alot more precisely, the thumb and index begin to work kind of like a rudder of a airplane.

  • @AdamFrostofficial ohh i see, i think i would give a chance to that technique, but for now, i've got my technique and i am perfect with it, but learning more techniques doesn't hurt anybody :D

  • I hope you got a big discount for getting purple/green cuz they really clash with that wood top. But if you like it that's cool. Nice playing too.

  • troll fingers

  • HI! I am looking for a Ibanez S5470 guitar. I like natural color of wood as your guitar´s, but the only available color I can find is transparent black sunburst, which it's actually too bright.

What is the color of your guitar? Is it TKS??

    By the way, well played!

  • SELL ME YOUR GUITAR!

  • i have the 6505+ and the avatar 2x12 contemporary and its too loud when i have the right amount of distortion on it. how can i quite it down, and still get a good metal sound?

  • @falla5 You can get a power attenuator. Look into the THD Hot Plate as well as the Marshall Power Block. Good for getting good tone saturation at lower volumes with tube amps.

  • unearth!!!!

  • TONE WIN. I just bought this exact guitar, LOVE THE FINISH, but the pickups are mediocre. I was actually wondering what you think of the HS-3 you have in the mid spot? THe main concern I have with the mid pickup that comes stock with the S5470 is that REALLY STRONG magnetic pulls that literally grabs the strings when I divebomb--and of course the horrid buzz. Any thoughts?

  • ur hella good at playing dude, but u have the weirdest picking style haha

  • please do a clean sound test

  • your tone is freaking delicious

  • looks really bad with the pickups that you changed lol

  • i just have to wonder, does reversing the tonezone do a whole lot to change the tone? Because your just reversing the positioning not the wiring right

  • it makes the pickup slightly more sensitve and "flute-like" which is good for legato

  • I (tried to) play a Prestige, not an S but still j craft prestige,at a music shop, and the neck was so rediculously flat and wide I couldnt play it,is this one super wide and flat?I like super flat fingerboards, not necks though.

  • @rockerdude29 The neck's thin if that's what you trying to say. It's fast though.

  • yo man where did you find the purple/green Dimarzios? I have never seen them purple/green and i would really like to get them

  • Whitechapel :D

    Your boss btw

  • How do you like that combo with the V30 and G12K100? I just ordered a my Avatar 4x12 Vintage with that config. Anxious.......

  • its a great combo. cuts, but is tight/full as well. im sure a 4x12 will be even more full sounding.

  • Thats great! I think yours is the only vid with this configuration so thats good to hear. Appreciate it.

  • immaculate playin and tone

    grt guitar!!!

  • crapy video!

  • crappy attitude!

  • @joeyinflames lmao

  • Why have an S5470 for playing death metal?

  • why have a honda civic for street racing?

  • @joeyinflames LOL

  • lol. dude, i just noticed that you have a very different picking style than ive ever seen. you hand position is different. thats not to say that its bad because everyone their own style. its just something i noticed. plus i loved the demo. great playing. finally someone who plays heavier shit for demos

  • thanks. i sometimes pick open fingered like shown, but a lot of the time close fingered - if that makes sense.

  • what? wtf are you trying to say?

  • is that some unearth i hear you playing?

Zombie autopilot or cutman i think?

  • @s2bHawK zombie autopilot :)

  • I noticed you have the Stained Oil finish. Does that make the tone not as good as the other finishes? The red finish is $500 more, and I don't think JUST a finish would cost $500, so I figured it'd have better tone or something. Do you know anything about it?

  • actually oil finishes usually have a more natural and open sound (i believe it to be a better sound)

its like cause its an oil finish the guitar can breath and sing a bit more, sense the pores of the wood arn't sealed in from the paint.

i dont know about the price difference though

  • @Laughrey21 you are correct sir, but i dont think its as much the pores as it is the fact that paint/gloss covers up the natural sound of wood and dampens/mushes the sound a bit, but you have to have picky ears to hear it

  • The S5470F, red viking, has a flamed maple top which adds different tonal character. I believe that is the "red" one you where inquiring about for $500 more?

  • are your string height buddy lowered?????????cn u advice me how to eliminate string buzz??what is your set up in string height?????

  • is this the guitar that herman li uses on through the fire and flames?

  • Heman's is a first "run" Ibanez S470. The 5470 is about they closest thing you can buy now to that. I have to admit, I may not like Herman, but that S that he plays is hella fine.

  • everyone holds their pick differently, wey.

JB from ABR holds his with thumb and middle finger.

    thats hella awkward hah

  • how is the v30 and g12k100 combo? I was just thinking of doing the same thing. I have a 4x12 with two celestion v-30's and g12-65's from 1980 ha ha. That sounds great but I want the perfect combo for my 2x12's. I have the celestion g12 centurys now but not digging the gain tone.

  • its a great combo. very cool and full sounding.

  • doesnt seem like alot of sustain? is it a neck thru body?

  • What scale is your neck?

  • 25.5"

  • You hold the pick awkward. I was curious to what this guitar sounded like, thanks.

  • i think it'd be better if you put the Tonezone in the bridge..like a Paul Girlbert kinda setup.. then a steve special on the neck..but either way, nice guitar, great pickups, nice colors.

  • i love Ibanez guitars, but the fretboards are just too wide..I have small hands..but I love the S series body design..if only the wizard necks weren't that wide..

  • damm i was thinking on getting one just because i thought it would help me because i have small hands ... what guitar do you recommend for me then..???

  • I recommend the dean Evo XM, for a beginner guitar..or if you can afford, buy the Dean Evo 2000. Great neck.great playability.

  • im looking fora guitar of the same price of the video one kinda.

  • what? what do you mean? you can get that Ibanez S5470, if you want..I'm not sure of the price..but I think it's over a thousand dollars.

  • is it as wide as a jackson's neck? Cause i have a jackson and i really like its big fat neck

  • yeah, same as the jackson..but it's really thin..wide thin neck!

  • Sounds cool! I really have to try it

  • if its got a wide thin neck does that mean its really easy or hard to solo with?

  • this is a 7 string right?

  • no, 6

  • but how did u put purple and green together there isnt such a selection in the website of dimarzio

  • Comment removed

  • I have a question i just ordered my s 5470 may I ask the reason for your pickup swap were the dimarzos not cutting it?

  • well there was a duncan and dimarzio in there before. they were great, but i like this combo more for what i like. its all preference.

  • romeo uses a tonezone in the neck? hmm. good to know, i might get that one day since im pretty fond of his tone for solos. right now though, im looking for the steve's special to get in my S prestige. what do you think of it compared to the stock pickup? will it help me get a bit chunk? any noise issues? thanks. and jesus christ, it just might be an illusion from the way you pick, but your hands are fucking huge!!

  • It's alright to be aggressive when playing but try not to play so hard the notes bend out of tune :(

  • how'd you get purple and green pickups?

    that guitar is fucking gorgeous.'

  • you can get different coloured ones on ebay, new

  • where did you get it? i think it's one of the most beautiful guitars ever made :)

  • That's why I have one :D

  • hi dude is that s5470 satin oil finish???????

  • yes

  • dude, do you have any sustain issue with this guitar?

  • not really, sustains as normal to me

  • rad, mate.

  • pretty nice guitar man my friend has a ibanez prestige s2170 its sick 2... im playin a gibson sg standard through my 6505 but im thinking about trading it for one like yours... but yeah great tone and awsome guitar man!!!

  • I have been playing for 7-8 years with no tendinitis at all. Everyone has their own method to picking, and if it's comfortable, even after hours of playing in one sitting, there is no problem.

I do not appreciate the derogatory way you commented, as it's immature and pointless really.

  • lol, just tell them to look at the way marty friedman holds his

  • Not to sound like a dick but u hold ur picking hand fuckin retarded, gonna give youself tendonitis bad if you practice long enough periods of time holding your shit like that...

  • could you get some warm, clean tones with the stock pickups??

  • what kind of stock pickups do that have? do they have the Hot grinder 1 & 2, short tracer picku[ps as stock?

Do the advertisment according to that guitar true? Is it versatile? Can you play all kinds of genre on that guitar? Can you play heavy to clean? metal to blues or jazz, etc.?

  • yes those are the stock pickups, just like on the ibanez website, i just dont like them. the guitar is versatile, yes.

  • You mean you can play all kinds of genre in that guitar with a good sound? even w/o changing the pickups for a specific genre? what pickups is perfect for that guitar and what combination?

  • there is no such thing as a perfect pickup. you can make almost any pickup do almost anything you want, but alot of ppl prefer slightly hotter pickups. I have a Bill Lawrence L-500XL in my RG and it's pretty much the highest output passive out there. Needs alot of gain or an OD to compress the tone though. Lower output pickups would be compressed already. If you have to ask all these questions stick with stock pups bc you wont know what to buy

  • you have it quite backwards. high output = high compression. low output = low compression.

  • why did you change the pickups? doesnt it sound good? according to ibanez it is versatile meaning you can play it on different kinds of music or genre?

  • i dont like stock ibanez pickups

  • What amp you using?

  • 6505+

  • i could tell from the sound it had to be a 6505... i have a ibanez tbx150h and the shop had 1 too so i tried the s5470 thru that and fell in love..... :) i love eofys....... picking it up this thurs :)

  • i enjoyed ur playing very much nice guitar and for me not being a metal guy i liked it a whole lot

  • thank you very much

  • What's the name of the finish. Im about to bye one and your guitar is just beautiful. If not that then the red viking or whatever it is.

  • Satin Oil

  • wow, good clarity even with low notes and high gain

  • thanks man, yea clarity is definitly something i go for

  • The stock pick ups aren´t good? What do you think about a Jazz (N) and a Seymour Duncan (B), maybe some Fender single.coil (M) ?

  • 99% of guitars, imo, have crappy stock pickups

  • Cool, got a question for you...how is the access to the upper frets? I am interested in this guitar but I prefer neck-through guitars... I can't find one of these in a local guitar shop to try out. Thanks.

  • it is slightly better then most bolt-on guitars, due to the thin neck and body, there isnt much heel in the way. very good over all.

  • Thank you!

  • great playing, thanks for that review

  • thanks!
