Many times especially at Kroger's their store brand is actually a brand name with their lable. Only reason I know this is one of my friends works in food brokerage for Kroger. So why not buy? Many store brands are every bit as good if not better. Kroger Selects has some ice cream that is better than any brand. My exception is chicken noodle soup it's gotta be the Campbell's.

I have made your other rice dish over and over so many times and it's delish! I am hooked on your tater tot casserole and so is Matthews coworkers.

For a better cheesy flavor, you should avoid shredded cheese and grate your own block of cheese. Not only does it taste better, it also melts better. YUM! This dish looks great.

@ThePohto No, it isn't. They add stabilizers to the shredded cheese and other additives that are not present in blocks of cheese. That is why the flavor of block cheese is more salient than that of shredded cheese.

texas pete is a good hot sause available in kroger stores.

a tip: you could elim. salt from the rice bec. the cheese has lots and it won't be missed:)

ah, good ol pimento and cheese. i didn't realize it was a local fav til i moved away.

here in socal i can get big pimentos in 12 oz or so cans. i make grilled cheese with big slices of pimento with my fave dif cheeses and some reg cambell's tomato soup.
