  • she looks so pretty and upbeat for her age

  • Shes beautiful.

  • The free market capitalists who own the UK have destroyed workers rights over several decades in the name of global competitiveness. I'll say it again.. protesting results in nothing. At the bare minimum we need a country wide campaign of civil disobedience and political leaders who actually work for the people rather than their career after politics. We in the UK could learn a few things about the french and how they defend their rights.

  • her house is haunted-somethings going on with the roses

  • My son just asked me what age-discrimination meant,

but he's too young to understand.

  • Don't they have an equal employment opportunity in England?

  • get rid of the cheap light up roses

  • A very lovely individual. This is a very courageous woman & God alone will bless her. She has spoken & dealt the situation a blow, like a true saint in this video. A person is only as old as they feel; everyone feels their age independently of rules & advertisements, though many seem to respond to certain propaganda, does not make it the norm. One should be allowed to work as long as they wish if they can handle the job & do it satisfactorily.

  • Why not start life 2? open an art studio, teach yoga or mentor people. That way if there is a health crisis or you want to take a break you can. I am 40 and it's not the new 20. I have to accept that. Also in much of the USA your boss can fire you for no cause. That was put in place to punish the young workers with less time on the job. Now the old are getting a taste and they do not like it. That is what I see here. Laws do need to change.

  • If I had money for business, I would hire minorities, fat and old folks.

Why should I hire young and sexy. They can get jobs anyway.

  • There is no protection against discrimination in UK because there is no actual support to the victims.

  • It is terrible. They got rid of me because after falling I could not physically do some job tasks. I was 56 when this happened. They verbally abused me in different ways. This is in the USA where you are supposed to be able to work until you are 65 or they changed it to 67 now. We need laws in the US and in England to prevent this from happening.

  • @kckc1975 I am so sorry to hear this its so bad I say to myself why is society so bad , they say you need to work until your 67 but its all bullocks , but when you slow down because off age your out the door, in my head i feel like saying you are bad people, I hope your better know, my history is i was homeless loads off times advice if you have a big house downsize.

  • What law or policy that gives the rights for the employer to dismiss Diane?

  • Diane you are beautiful. I am sorry this happened to you. I noticed a young girl pouring wine at the table ( server) I'm sure they wouldn't hire anybody older in the restaurant either.

  • I am 35, I Feel like I am 90 ! LOL

  • I am so sorry they did that to you. Age Discrimination is rampant and it's horrible!!! I think you are Beautiful and I wish you the best.

  • @Monikblessed Like Age & Older is a Disease. Sick and Sad

    God Bless this Lady.

  • The reason many U.K. employers are giving notice of contract-termination to employees reaching 65 years of age...(mine included!)... is simply that it will become ILLEGAL to do this in October 2011.

  • The US has a law that you can not fire someone because of age. They do but they don't say that is why...

  • Age discrimination is rampant in the U.S. Unlike some Asian countries where jobs are gained from exams, in the U.S. all jobs are gained through interviews, and they can always reject you there. They may not say it's the reason, but if you are over 40, Asian, Latin, or black, you are subject to discrimination through other excuses.

For the young, "He can get the job, but can he do the job?"

For the old or minority, "He can do the job, but can he get the job?"

  • @lustcorp So true have got it spot on.

  • FaceBook discriminates......When you get older, your friends have passed,

You try to make new friends via FaceBook & they disconnect you???

    Not right.....

  • @ndog2005 Yup !

  • Discrimination is far more widespread than just age, sexual orientations, clothing optional humans,to freely walk in public places, nature is nude too, gays, third gender humans, zoosexuality made legal, furries of the furry fandom not letting them do the good things they can do in animation unfettered by anyone, being done by a true loving your neighbor as yourself furry, not to discriminate an upper cervical specific, upcspine- is good. Drugs-are bad. keep appointments. All go to U,C,S, now.

  • The UK do have such laws and mostly by the fact that it is a EU directive. Unfortunately the UK protects its workers very poorly (since Thatcher I've been told).

Very few cases have been taken to court in the country, and it is just sickening. I know for a fact that in Surrey the companies communicate between them to discuss the best strategy to adopt to get rid of the over 50's.

The way the worker is unprotected makes it impossible to raise such claim. The lawyers wont accept a no win no fee.

  • Doesnt england have anything like the "Age Discriination and employment act of 1992 that the US has ?

  • Corporations find ways around that law. Even though we have laws here that are supposed to protect people from age discrimination companies still find loopholes and back doors around that. Thats why my mom got fired just yesterday. She had worked for Brookdale Living for 14 years, was very dedicated to her job, never called in sick, worked weekends, holidays, and often worked late. Then the company starting making bogus claims and lies, started writting her up and then fired her, it was her age

  • Damned shame how superficially some view other people and what they can or could contribute. Oftentimes it's just a way to push an older, better paid employee out and hire on someone younger and cheaper. Pretty harsh and devastating to many who are still perfectly able to do a fine job.

  • Move over and let the young people have a chance find something interesting to do in retirement I retired at 51 best decision of my life.

  • loot as much as you can when leaving office buildings

  • No don't steal. The bible says, "Thou shall not steal." You can get into trouble if you loot.

  • im not christian or prodistant

  • Still it's wrong to steal. I sometimes say if a company discriminates, I find that abandonment is also a good wya to tell them that age discrimination is wrong. If you steal, you can go to jail.

  • poor lady :(

she looks like such a nice charming person.

  • so wrong and so unfair

she looks fine and healthy, wdf were they thinkin

    law...?

    some rules need to change

healthy...what more does this country want?

    she;s not 95

    bloody hell

    unfair!!!!!!

no explanation? rules.....this is why people need to act upon things like these

i rate this woman, she is hopefully still fighting her cause.

  • !!!! HAAA HAAAAA

  • @son1gohan Until it's you :)

  • The lady ought to come to the USA. She could even work for St. John's Mercy Medical Center. We don't even believe in age discriminatiion.

  • Yeah, but I'm sure she'll get a lot more retirement money and benefits, if she stays in Britain.

  • Sad but true. Still you are one hot 65 year old woman. You need to join others to form an association to draw attention to this issue. Maybe you and others like you can help change this on-going crime.

  • the world is like it is because of GREEDY GOVERMENTS! and BANKERS.. lining their own pockets at the expense of the rest of us.

  • the mininmum age of retirement is 59 and a half...once you planned your retirement right!good investing when you were young!

  • you should have prepared your IRAa,401ks and fixed income accounts...ages ago!

  • once old people stall in the work force...the young generation will not get jobs...it will be a homeless future ...we sure hope not!this is the millennium...not 1930s...right now time should be easier!

  • That is ridiculous.

  • She could work at Wal-Mart, could be greeter, Since this is UK i don't know if you know about wal-mart, it's just a giant super market chain where alot of older people work,

  • yep, it just called ASDA, but generaly its the same thing....lol anyway

  • first

  • lol the queen dont work

  • As Western populations age and birthrates decline (Immigrants will become more and more crucial to the future of these economies) and this type of situation will only get worse. Interesting times ahead.

  • My heart bled for the 'oldies' who won't be allowed to work again. An excellent if somewhat worrying programme.

  • I'd have more sympathy if she was 55....60 was the rule for women..jeez!

  • One day you will be that age and if you still enjoyed working and was told to leave because of your age then you would feel sad too.

  • Comment removed

  • Apparently Im too young to work. Im 17. And employers prefer older, more expeirienced people. Channel 4, give me a job in your creative media department.... please :D

  • @krazykizza I'll get that one before you ;)

  • @kiribula Sorry! beat you to it! :D

  • That's stupid, what's the point of sacking her if she's doing her job? She'll probably be better at her job than some young person, she has the experience where others don't.

    Totally wrong :(

  • She's a looker for age 65 ;)

  • do you throw the queen off here thrown if she passes the age of 65 ?

    NO ! you don't.

why then do that to a poor old lady that wants to work.

and god knows the queen is over 130 years old thats 65X2 !!

  • God, she looks 50 oddish Lol.

And these employers should be ashamed...

  • thats so horrible what they did to her :( i think i might watch this :D and she looks pretty damn good for 65!!
