  • Horn angles...?

  • I was here and saw you guys at Rutgers Saturday interesting music choice but not marching band music good thing your aren't competitive no offense. I remember us all being lie....omg now there doing poker face? viv la vida? and then you guys did good Saturday but I mean its just not...

  • @narutojames225 The reason we don't compete is because we want to play tunes that are popular. It's just who we are, and we enjoy it. By the way, what Marching Band are you with? Lol, I'm curious now.

  • @ThatWickedDrummer Herndon High School. Its nice to see a band that plays tunes people know though so its cool. I bet your high schoolers acctualy pay attention to you though

  • @narutojames225 I wish I saw you guys perform, but our director didn't give us a chance to watch any of the Bands.

In my opinion, the kids (and adults) here pay attention and react but not as much as when we perform in Annapolis or Rutgers where every single person has to watch, lol. That feeling is a heck of a lot better than performing during football games.

  • @ThatWickedDrummer Your so right it is

  • man those are some awesome songs for a field show!! My school is doing Lady Gaga this year :)

  • @simslovr Have fun with it:D It's so much fun playing 'outside the box'; the crowds love it.

  • Sounds good, whats your show this year, and by the way i am in the Pottsville High School Band on Friday nights game, good to hear that your numbers are up, our number went from 134 to 139 this year. Good Luck Friday!

  • @jpstrumpetplayer95 Well, you know our show now, lol. I'm uploading it as we speak. Your guys' show was pretty awesome.

Wow, 139?! You guys didn't look that big!! Has your director considered the Rose Bowl at all?

  • @ThatWickedDrummer i wish we can go!! that would be awesome! and we're going to disneyworld next year. Its hard to be believe that this year was a small band for us, in the past we've had 160, 120 musicians, 30 color guard, its hard to believe for 20 years from about 1975-1995, the band had 310 members, about 175 musicans, hard to get that these days unless your Exeter, right? anyways, have a successful season!

  • @jpstrumpetplayer95 Wow, 310 members?!?! That would be awesome!

Have fun in Disney World!:D We, the Chorale, Show Choir, Chamber Orchestra, and Marching Band, went down in March (I have videos on my channel). It's definitely worth the trip:) Hope you guys have fun down there, and hope you guys have a successful season, too! Are you guys going to any competitions?

  • @ThatWickedDrummer The only band that competes at our school is The Jazz Band, our marching band does the Tamaqua Land of the Running Water Festival in October, but otherwise we don't compete, our director doesn't like the whole corps style of marching and competing, he likes to keep the band military. Thats why we High Step instead of Roll Step

  • @jpstrumpetplayer95 I can understand that. We perform in festival class because we don't play the kind of music that the judges are looking to see. By a mistake from the USSBA, we won first place in our group in 2008 when we went to Baltimore:)

  • @jpstrumpetplayer95 That's great. I like your band director's philosophy. This is a fun show to listen to and watch and it looks like the kids are having fun and I agree that sometimes utterly serious band competitions are cool too, but in many ways the competing aspect takes some of the fun out of playing and listening.

  • sounds great but band so small.

  • @freaco271 We had 86 members last year. This year we have 123.

  • @CatieHxOCutie

I won't, lol; I'll make him run laps around the field with my old drum on>:)

If you see a video within the next few years, you'll know that we got in, lol:P

  • horn angles please

  • @CatieHxOCutie

My brother was Pit Boy for two years, and he'll definitely miss it. He better know not to mess with his Drum Major sister next year:3 And we really want to march in the Rose Bowl parade; maybe we will in 2012 (my Senior Year). Applications for this year (2011) were due back in December:(

  • @CatieHxOCutie

Thanks! Lol, I'll try not to, considering that the incoming 8th graders consist mostly of siblings of current members (including my own younger siblingxP). We're getting a major boost of members: 86 to 119! There are people from every grade joining!! Our director is really excited because our sights for the Rose Bowl (and his retirementxD) are getting closer.

  • @CatieHxOCutie

Oh it will be:) Our guitarist is pumped for our new show. I can't wait for Band Camp to start in August!! I won't be on the Line anymore:'( but it's only because I was selected for Drum Major:)

  • Thanks!!:D I'll be happy to let you know that we ARE going back to Annapolis again this year:) I'm not going to spoil our theme for this year, though:P

    What Band are you in?

  • You guys made my ass bleed :) idk if that's healthy tho

  • ... but, in my experience actually being in a college band that plays typical "college" music (nothing really "out of the box" there, either, admittedly)... the cheers every week from the college crowd are worth much more than the polite claps from a high school competition crowd.

Stroudsburg marching band kids don't need band to compete in: most of them are already in so many other competitive activities, that they really just need a place to relax and be awesome on their own terms.

  • Exactly. We know that we don't compete, but it doesn't really matter to us. We've gotten great responses from the crowds, the other Bands, and even the cheerleaders.

  • What's boring about "college style" band shows? How is it stepping outside of the box to do what the majority of high school bands do? In my experience at these competitions, there are usually "big themes" that loads of people do in one year. One year it was Pirates, the next year it was something else... there's nothing "outside the box" about doing movie music.

And yeah, maybe there's nothing "outside the box" about doing "college-ish" band music...

  • Last year was "Thriller"'s year, as well as "September". We couldn't believe how many Bands, we thought, 'tried to copy us.'

In my opinion, it all depends on the effort and the experiences that make a Band great. The size and ability doesn't matter.

  • kk calm down

i dont even know wwho you are

dont get so worked up over nothing

  • Over nothing?

You said "and dont try to act like you even have a pit if its just a bass and a guitar player....."

You mess with one section and you get the whole band coming after you.

  • yeah i get you guys being up set but i dont really care.....

being called a douchbag because of it isint really that cool...

sorry for giving an outside opinion from someone thats not in your band...

  • Oh, and our Renegade was still better than yours! :P

  • Lol, lies:P

  • yeah i get what your saying but i still dont like the fact that your playing typical "college band" music. it dosent have to be classical i just like it when bands try to step outside the box and do something different......

and dont try to act like you even have a pit if its just a bass and a guitar player.....

  • But it's our "college band" music that makes us so popular, and we even won first place with best music last year, and we weren't even supposed to be ENTERED in the competition!

And a pit is a pit, no matter who's there or how many there are.

  • @michaelspudin well someone has a skunk up there butt. and small as our pit may be, it's better than any other pit around.

  • That was soooooo much fun when we did that...... BALLS!!!!!!!!

  • YOO!! They only got 5 seconds of pit action!!! WTH??!?!

  • maybee cause their lonly like two people in your pit and your playing boring music

but your brass is pretty good so im not gonna hate on it too much...

  • You may call our music boring, but we like to play music that the crowd likes to hear. Do you honestly think the average person living in the U.S. wants to hear the "Spirit of Mozart" whenever they go to a high school football game? And I won't lie, the size of our pit isn't the best, but it's not like it needs to be bigger. Like i said, we're playing pop/rock music, not classical, so we don't need any xylophones. And thank you, our brass is extremely good.
