  • What does : not a starble of his marble mean?

  • @johyle It's not in Geordie slang dictionaries, but I think it means sight of or trace of. That would fit the context.

  • @catbells69 It's "stubble"

  • CUSHTY BARDY CHEOR

  • @poopyguy1694 it's just a song for a laugh. it's about a guy who looses his marble and couldn't find it, he thinks he lost it down the toilet so he blows it up, then realises the marble was in his pocket the whole time :-)

  • dude this is freakin awesome!!!!!

  • hahaha im from whitley bay! and im not posh! :p

  • Nah, you were born in North Shields - I was there!

  • Is there a studio version of this?

  • Yes!

  • The word 'liggie' for marble is sometimes substituted with the alternative 'penker' of 'penkah' as pronounced. A studio version may be listed under either term.

I doubt if Brian Johnson has ever recorded it, but hey - you never know... Hope springs maternal so the mis-quote goes.

  • he has recorded it, i got it just get it off lime wire! lol its so funny i lover it!! rock on!!

  • whats the meaning of this song?? im Australian and have no friggen idea what his sayin lol, and ive got the actuall song its so sweet!!

  • Wor Geordie -- Our George.

Liggie - Marble (a small coloured glass ball).

Wor Geordie's lost 'e's liggie -- Our George has unfortunately misplaced his marble.

The song tells the sorry tale of Geordie first loosing his marble, then finding it again in surprising circumstances. It is one of the less prominent Tyneside anthems, probably more commonly chanted in years past (as with many colloquial folk songs) but still well known amongst the Geordie (Tyneside) population.

  • sick you rock! thanx for tellin me, heres to repay you with aussie language..
