I think this guy is right about the aspartame but he's doing himself and his cause a disservice by linking it to other conspiracies such as population control. You don't have to be a conspiracy addict to see that aspartame was accepted as a substance under dubious conditions. Sugar is very bad for the health but probably a safer bet, at least you can burn calories. The ideal thing is to watch what you eat, keep your food as natural as possible. Eating sweet is a habit that can be broken.

@Ineedmorelives It's not impossible by I think that it's more about companies (mainly the aluminum industry) selling their waste at a profit instead of paying to dispose of it. In our society the only thing that matters for corporations are profits and this is a great move for their profits. As far as population control, I really doubt that this would be a very effective way to achieve any kind of significant results since it's so slow. I tend to think it's about companies making money.
@Ineedmorelives I got mixed up with comments I made on a water fluoridation but it's the same concept. A corporation develops a product that they can produce cheaply and sell in mass quantities. Monsanto proved a long time ago that passing your product and paying damages can be very profitable. Bribing regulators for a product without enough conclusive scientific testing is good business. It's effects are slow and develop over many years making it hard to discredit and not an efficient killer.

These associations have had directors that went to work before and after their term for companies like Monsanto. Glad I stopped drinking diet soda 2 years ago...aspartame is another awful, animal-tested product where they got totally inconclusive and varied results with animals and then let it loose on the market using the animal data that suited their purpose. A reverse osmosis water tank isn't too expensive and can run around 100$, and the refills are only 1.75 here for 5 gallons; lessen the landfills a bit.

In any case I see no correlation between this and cancer. Fruit Juice has more Methanol per part than Diet Coke.
Breast Milk (from most mammals) has more Phenylalanine per part than Diet Coke.
Deli Meats have more Aspartic Acid than Diet Coke.
Some people get Cancer. It's awful. If you have a family history of Cancer, there's a lot of things to avoid (along with Aspertame) in large quantities. What exactly do you quantify as "real food?" Apple Juice? Turkey? Organic Milk? All these products contain in silimar or greater quantities, by part, the "toxins" in Aspertame. The fact is that Aspertame is made of Aminos and doing the research you can see how they naturally break down. Phenylalanine breaks down into dopamine & ephedrine. Methanol breaks down into formaldehyde and then formic acid. Both of these are out of the body within 4 and 8 hours respectively.
Nick - just an FYI, the only reason there are warnings that a product may contain phenylalanine is because of a rare genetic condition called phenylketonuria, which is an inability for the body to process phenylalanine. Phenylalanine is an essential Amino Acid and the vast majority of people actually need it. It's present in meat, breast milk and a variety of other foodsm and in far greater quantity per part than Aspertame after application.

The FDA is in the pockets of drug companies and corporations. Just because the FDA says it is ok to eat or drink, does not mean that it is safe anymore. Just look at all of these lawsuits coming back on the drug companie's drugs that were approved by the FDA, but have killed or, compromised pregnancies, etc, or your health. You see it on TV all the time with lawyers asking you if you have taken a certain drug, and if you have you may have a claim against the drug company. Go figure..

I have drank large quanities of diet MT. Dew & Diet Coke since the mid 1980's....Probably an average of four 24 oz bottles a day. I had no idea about this until recently. I have been having vision, balance & memory problems that are noticable to others. Kind of a sinking feeling this news.

@Ineedmorelives It's not impossible by I think that it's more about companies (mainly the aluminum industry) selling their waste at a profit instead of paying to dispose of it. In our society the only thing that matters for corporations are profits and this is a great move for their profits. As far as population control, I really doubt that this would be a very effective way to achieve any kind of significant results since it's so slow. I tend to think it's about companies making money.

@Ineedmorelives I got mixed up with comments I made on a water fluoridation but it's the same concept. A corporation develops a product that they can produce cheaply and sell in mass quantities. Monsanto proved a long time ago that passing your product and paying damages can be very profitable. Bribing regulators for a product without enough conclusive scientific testing is good business. It's effects are slow and develop over many years making it hard to discredit and not an efficient killer.

The FDA and Canadian drug and food administration have both approved aspartame with a limited amount of research information and very varied scientific opinions on the substance. These associations have had directors that went to work before and after their term for companies like Monsanto. There is a huge conflict of interest when the regulators spend most of their career working for the companies that they are supposed to regulate.The only victory is that they must label phenylalanine by law.

A reverse osmosis water tank isn't too expensive and can run around 100$, and the refills are only 1.75 here for 5 gallons; lessen the landfills a bit.
Soda is horrible for you; then you gain weight and drink the diet ones which are bad for your mind.

Fruit Juice has more Methanol per part than Diet Coke.
Breast Milk (from most mammals) has more Phenylalanine per part than Diet Coke.
Deli Meats have more Aspartic Acid than Diet Coke.
Some people get Cancer. It's awful. If you have a family history of Cancer, there's a lot of things to avoid (along with Aspertame) in large quantities. Drinking < 8oz per day of a diet beverage doesn't put you at risk any more than having a turkey sandwich, apple juice and milk. That's just the facts.

What exactly do you quantify as "real food?" Apple Juice? Turkey? Organic Milk? All these products contain in silimar or greater quantities, by part, the "toxins" in Aspertame. The fact is that Aspertame is made of Aminos and doing the research you can see how they naturally break down. Phenylalanine breaks down into dopamine & ephedrine. Methanol breaks down into formaldehyde and then formic acid. Both of these are out of the body within 4 and 8 hours respectively.

Nick - just an FYI, the only reason there are warnings that a product may contain phenylalanine is because of a rare genetic condition called phenylketonuria, which is an inability for the body to process phenylalanine. Phenylalanine is an essential Amino Acid and the vast majority of people actually need it. It's present in meat, breast milk and a variety of other foodsm and in far greater quantity per part than Aspertame after application.

To all the skeptics - I had aspartame poisoning from just 1 can of diet coke a day. This is a fact. Of all people skeptics should be the ones to DOUBT that they are being told the truth about this substance! The very laws of economics are proving you wrong and all those "safe aspartame" studies are absolute BS. Keep in mind who is behind them. Pharma. usually but not every website....which is why if you search aspartame you will find a ton of extremist websites about aspartame being DANGEROUS or POISONOUS but non of them actually proving what they say. the few websites i listed below state facts and back the facts up with proven studies and research. so your comment there just backs up the fact that people lie and say stuff without even knowing what they are talking about. there are many other factors that could have killed this mans wife

They can lie, they can make up tricks to cover up the truth, there have been thousands who have died from this, not just his wife, and theyre all have links and ties to aspertame poisoning. The FDA is in the pockets of drug companies and corporations. Just because the FDA says it is ok to eat or drink, does not mean that it is safe anymore. Just look at all of these lawsuits coming back on the drug companie's drugs that were approved by the FDA, but have killed or, compromised pregnancies, etc, or your health. You see it on TV all the time with lawyers asking you if you have taken a certain drug, and if you have you may have a claim against the drug company. Go figure..

I have drank large quanities of diet MT. Dew & Diet Coke since the mid 1980's....Probably an average of four 24 oz bottles a day. I had no idea about this until recently. I have been having vision, balance & memory problems that are noticable to others. Kind of a sinking feeling this news.

This made me cry. I came across this video looking for information on aspartame. My mom has been drinking diet pepsi since I was a baby. She's been feeling very sick and no energy. I keep thinking it's the pop because she eats very healthy other than diet pepsi. I'm going to show this to her and pray she listens. I guess that we shouldn't be surprised. Cola started out as a medicine. For some reason I was so thirsty after drinking one Coke that I had another one waiting on the table. I stopped drinking an average of 2 cases a week about 8 yrs ago.
We must all remember the origins of Coke...that's a hint and a half for our asses.

When I first heard about this, first thing I did was go in the fridge and check the Diet Coke, there it was, not even disguised, Aspartame. Also in almost ALL chewing gum! It frieghtens me that I used to chew at least every week if not everyday. My close friend chews it every day, half a pack a day, she is only 16 and now she needs glasses for some reason...? This needs to be banned.. Soon.

@RawLifeWorld When I was in the air force Coke cans could be seen everywhere. We got just as much of a caffeine fix as if we had a cup and a half or so of coffee.
We used to think that it was funny how the Coke gave our teeth a yucky coating and had a shelf life date on the can.

About 2 weeks ago, funny how ironic the timing of this is... , at Office Depot (of all places), who've now taken up as becoming sugar / aspartame pushers with row after row of CANDY near their cash (right!) registers, lo and behold I spotted bubbleicious gum and BINGO 'no aspartame'.
