  • Why does it have Arnold Schwarzenegger's head?

  • Ironic the guy whistling the Superman theme is working on another rejected animatronic...

  • put some legs and make the Hulk-minator...

  • an animatronic hulk would have been way better. both cg hulks were lame

  • Yeah it would be cool if the Hulk just moved his fingers really fast, because walking would be a really fucking problem

  • --sigh-- The guy whistling the Superman theme. You know, by this time I thought they'd forget about it.

  • I don't believe this was for the Ang Lee movie, because Kerry Gammill's book about his time at EFX spoke about a previous effort to make a Hulk movie that had a completely different storyline to Ang Lee's film, something involving a soldier turning into an insect hybrid.

That said, I do love this video.

  • Thumbs up if at first it looked like a Hulked out Bart Simpson

  • I would watch HOURS of this.

  • the guy is whistling to the superman them :D

  • They just had to ruin it for the movie, didn't they? Fuck them. This is way cooler.

  • This must of cost a small fortune.

  • Both Hulk movies were crap!

  • I think this film is going to be disappointing compared the Incredible Hulk film released a few years ago

  • @MrSinister1990 Dude....this was being made for the first Hulk movie before they decided to go CGI. This is footage from over 10 years ago.

  • @PhantomXS My apologise

  • They should have used this combined with the CGI.

  • The incredible hulk movie was good. Using cgi was awesome instead of a robot

  • was he whistling the superman theme

  • But Eric Bana was a robot, right?

  • Amazing! Absolutely amazing!

  • 0:45 - 1:45 AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH A TERMINATOR!!!!!!!!!!!! haha xD

  • WOW Ang Lee was an idiot for passing this up.

  • @JCasR3 Ang Lee an idiot? His Hulk is a stone cold masterpiece and easily the most intelligent, well acted, well scripted super hero movie to date. It makes the Ed Norton film look very second rate in comparison. These guys did great work but i'v yet to see as wide an emotional range as that we got from Ang Lee's c.g.i hulk. Puppets just aren't up to the subtlety of facial expressions. Check out him head butting the canopy of the fighter jet as it flies up in the stratosphere. Amazing.

  • @jocky300 what movie did you watch?

  • Thumbs up if peter rallis brought u here.

  • Doesnt matter that it was converted to CGI anyhow - even a robot as cool as this couldnt have saved that shit movie

  • oh no! its Arnold Schwarzenegger revived

  • i didnt know hulk was a terminator. lol

  • Sucks for them

  • He should've stuck up the middle finger Stone Cold Style....

  • wow can i have it?

  • ohhh maaay gaaaad!

  • 2 robotic lol

  • How is everyone saying this looks better than the finished product? We don't even see what this looks like completed! I liked the Ang Lee film, and this is fascinating, but I'm glad they went with 100% CG for the Hulk because an animatronic of this scale would really give itself away very quickly. (it has nice fluid motion here, but it still has that mechanical look)

  • WHY YOU GIVE HULK CAMELTOE?

  • Will this robot be the HULK for AVENGERS 2012 ???

  • i didnt know the hulk likes to play with balls. xD

  • The only way to make a REALISTIC HULK is to make a suit, almost like the Thing one, but more flexible with animatronic face and stuff, then just add it on the movie using CGI to make it look bigger, thats the answer to the Hulk. For example that monster Hellboy fights in the second movie, that was just a suit and look how it looked!

  • Yeah now try to move that without making it falling apart, what you think about CGI now, huh?

  • Thumbs up if Peter sent you :D

  • I must say, that this looks better than the CGI one in the movie, plus all this work was just wasted, what I think they should do with it though, is take this robot/animatronic thing, and make an attraction or a ride at a theme park with it, like another ride at Islands of Adventure or put it in the lobby while you are waiting in line waiting to ride the already existing one.

  • damn so much detail...wasted

  • someone is a big fan for Superman

  • Wow was this seriously hidden for 8 years? It looks good, though the head looks kinda wierd, but I'm not sure if it would've worked. The problem with animatronics is that it is so constrained to its movements. Hulk, as we all know, has super-agility, so it would've really been hard to pull it off. But it would've been cool if they did what Jurassic Park did and used Half-animatronics, and half-CGI for the effects.

  • who kept it?

  • i wonder how the guys felt who worked on this so long just to find out hulk was jus goin to be CGI i would have snuffed ang lee in the face

  • Why didn't they do this?!

It looks the most real when it IS REAL!!!

That's why movies with monsters done by Guillermo Del Toro are so awesome!

They move in real time and are just... awesome!

  • that hand was fantastic

  • his head is really square!!!

  • what the fuck is this this isnt dark Crystal

  • The big bang theory quote... Lenard " With all the money spent trying to make a good Hulk moive they could have made a Hulk by now" hahaha

  • That's awesome, but they couldn't of done what they did with the CGI hulk in the film using this.

  • No offense but if they made him Animatronic they would have just looked Epic Fail!...

  • amazing what we can d with robotics these days. why go with CGI when you have something this awesome?

  • hope they saved that

  • sneak peak!!!! robot in the making ;D

  • not that this isnt awesome, but why would they even consider animatronics over cgi anymore?

  • Well now they can just turn it into a gundam.

  • Why the fuck didn't they use this instead. Oh yeah, because CG is cheaper and easier. Cheap mother fuckers!

  • Someone was whispering the Superman theme song at the beginning lmfao!

  • Fuck CGI!

  • ROBOHULK

  • its crazy what goes into moviesnow days really..

  • stan lee will love it

  • That arm were actually once made for something else.....

  • Will it blend? That is the question

  • I gotta admit, these were pretty good ideas... like the expanding arm is pretty sweet

  • Alright if this was in 2003 then we should get giant fighting robots soon right?

  • is this for a movie

  • @residentevil808 it was

  • Now Skynet has a Hulk. NOOOOOOO

  • @wmo305 i was about to comment about that myself fuuuuu

  • Wow! They just waisted money.

  • its amazing how thay didnt bother using somthing that must hav took a team of people months to do and it would hav been so much better than the cgi shit

  • I WANT ONE FOR MY BIRTHDAY!!!!

  • the face is good, but I hate the flat top

  • you guys should make a sort hulk video using yours to show how cool it would look to see if it looked way better then CGI hulk!!

  • 1:38 is for when hulk is scratching his balls.

  • damn i want to see it all

  • i wonder how it would have worked out

  • thank god this didnt happen fuck ang lee the incredible hulk ftw !!!!!!!!!!

  • What if they gave that robot a mind of it's own and released it onto the streets, that would be some crazy shit!!!!!

  • the hulk robot would've been creepy anyway lol

  • Dude. I fucking love New Order's Bizarre Love Triangle.

  • Why was someone whistling the Superman theme?

  • @ransom22 They worked on the unmade "Superman Lives" film as well.

  • then when Skynet takes over we are all fucked!

  • How can we see more of this Animatronic Hulk footage?

  • holy crap!! I worked as an animator on the first HULK and we never heard about this wicked rig! What a shame.

  • @spankygrant That's because it wasn't for the version of Hulk you worked on.

  • @Superstarseven really!!?? that was for the second one!? daamn.....still a real shame it never got used. I hope it at least got re-purposed into a theme park somewhere so folks could admire it.

  • @spankygrant It was made for the incarnation of the Hulk movie before Ang Lee took over.

This is pre-production footage from Jonathan Hensleigh's version.

  • Meh, in hindsight, the abuse of CGI is easy to see. At the time though, it was all good.

  • CGI SUX! The reason The Thing was so much better? NO Fucking CGI!

Please, send me the doll after the movie!

  • The Hulkster could have been an actor In full body make-up, like Hellboy, but made to look bigger with CG. The transformation would be animatronic.

  • Wow... they had this awesome practical effect stuff and went for the Incredible Jello Monster?

  • thank God for Peter Jackson and this thing never saw the light of day

  • WOW! i didn't know they built a Hulkinator

  • Do you ever keep the unused things such as this, the Superman suit, etc. and ever used it for other projects, past or future? Hate to think those things go to waste and never make it to celluloid.

BTW, Love the extensive Blade II documentary. One of my favorite special features on home video ever.

  • I wish they'd used a practical effect for the Hulk's transformation.

  • looks like duke nukem hulk

  • I really want to see what the skinned version looked like in motion. And how far along did this get before being scrapped?

  • Awesome!!!

  • thats gotta blow. spending all that time to make that when they use a cgi instead...

  • Comment removed

  • @AOSfilms its because it's not fast enough like the cgi version lol..

  • this reminds me of the animatronic goro for the first mortal kombat movie, if they could pull that off and have it still look fucking real as bones today then i dont see why hulk cant be done for real, but i can understand why they choose to go with cgi, but a little more work to this and less on the fucking computer than we can advance the technology to a degree to where its possible to do full body motion capturing to a robotic Hulk that reacts to our body movement!!

  • @AOSfilms that's actually for the new movie that'll be coming up

  • @AOSfilms I rather have a "REAL" hulk than cgi,

  • @AOSfilms You still get paid reguardless so who cares lol

  • That's pretty damn cool.

I wonder if they'll be using a rig like this for the new TV series they're planning, or if that'll be too expensive.

  • Sweet! :)

  • Fuck Ang lee!!!! now this is more real & alive than that Sherk cgi Hulk shti

  • @mikecop87

Ang Lee's Hulk, iz more realistic than the Hulk in the Comics,

as any other ones u can see today.

OK, Ang Lee's Hulk looks way to human, but thats all.

My friend, you have to recognize how Lee's Hulk spitting the missiles back to the helicopter

and moves like these characterise the real character of the comics.

The Movie iz full of Scenes like this.

4 me, Ang Lee's Hulk iz the greatest!!!.

  • Awesome so glad you guys are back.

  • Was this for the 2003 or 2008 movie?

  • @DarthJones55 1998 I believe.
