  • Dumbass. Rand Paul has no idea what he's talking about. He just knows he has to say "mountiantop mining keep the money in Appalachia" and he thinks he's golden. We are not fooled, Mr. Paul.

  • Rand Paul is trying to make sure his paycheck from big coal is secured if he gets elected. It's an outrage what's happening in our country. I can't believe people support complete idiots like this. He's completely uninformed on environmental issues, puts the marketplace above environmental protection, and if elected, will make completely reckless decisions based on his ignorance of the importance of protecting the environment.

  • So let me see if I have this right: government should stay out of business regardless of the huge environmental destruction it's causing? Lord help us if this man gets into a position of power. He's a nut.

  • douchebag working for the coal industry

  • might be missing clean water and streams.... a douche bag...

  • @cityshots He said IN THIS INTERVIEW that companies should not be able to pollute others property. The libertarian angle, like it or not, is no EPA, but just have local courts treat it, not different from if I dumped something in your yard, or damaged it with grafitti. its WITH the EPA we get the bribes, and the get away with polluting. I wish we didnt need to do mountaintop removal, but we havnt invented the next technology yet.

  • Ok Rand Paul we GET IT. Big government=Bad Big Business=Good.

As if there is even a difference between the two. Business controls the government in this country, not the people. I don't even know what Rand has to be upset about.

  • "Lower corporate taxes create jobs..." Really? Prove it.

This guy is rich, privileged, self-absorbed and has a huge sense of personal entitlement. Like most Libertarians, his philosophy is "I have the freedom to grow rich, you have the freedom to starve." Paul hate government, and is determined to destroy it. Would you go to a doctor that hated hospitals? Of course not. Why elect someone who hates government?

  • @historygeek2007 Have you even read the constitution? Right or wrong, Rand is taking all of his cues from the constitution. And redistributing wealth doesnt CREATE any new wealth. All the stuff we enjoy needs to be created in the first place. And low taxes works to create wealth> I dont even think the founding fathers thought the industrial revolution would happen when they decided for small government. WE BECAME THE RICHEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD BECAUSE OF LOW TAXES. "Prove it?" No disrespect.

  • @stevenavarro Yes, I've read the Constitution, thank you. I wasn't talking about redistributing wealth, I was talking about creating jobs. And not just flippin' burgers at McCrappies or cleaning toilets at the airport but real jobs where you can earn a decent living. To rich people like Paul, a job is a job.

  • @historygeek20Paul being rich doesn't 'make' anyone poor. 100 years ago, Gov spending was 5% of the economy. Now, it is 42%. It has to stop. All of our consumption comes from PRODUCTION. Profits are reinvested into CAPITAL. You can pay a guy using a tractor a lot more than someone using a shovel. Rand being entitled? Life isn't a zero-sum game. Small government creates MUCH more prosperity. The Sovjets couldnt even feed themselves. But remember - the GOAL is human freedom. Watch Milton Friedman!

  • @stevenavarro What does this have to do with jobs? You are correct, life isn't a zero sum game. That proves my point, actually. If this Libertarian paradise all the sudden came into existence, would the playing field be level? Of course not. So saying everyone has the chance to get wealthy is as much a fantasy as communism. But that's how this idea is posited; with no controls everyone is free...but the truth is some would be free to get richer while others would be free to starve.

  • @historygeek2007 To get jobs, you need capital. All the money the government is BORROWING is money that businesses CANNOT BORROW to grow, hire or start. We are spending China's SAVINGS. Libertarian paradise - google the "negative income tax" which is the transition to what we want, and an important part of the debate. We cannot cut off benefits overnight for people who are dependent on them. But to your last point, but you seriously underestimate how charitable Americans like you and I are.

  • @historygeek2007

"A society that puts equality before freedom will get neither. A society that puts freedom before equality will get a high degree of both."

    — Milton Friedman

That pretty much sums it up.

  • @myhipsi

so the people in west virginia who are getting kidney stones left and right bc of the runoff in their water from mountaintop mining should stop asking for compensation. if you don't mind mountaintop mining then go live in the mountains of west virginia where that's going on and say that.

  • @boing3887

Where are you getting this, exactly? Did Paul say anything about people who are hurt by mountaintop removal not being allowed to sue for compensation? He was talking entirely about property rights, which include a person's body. His main point has always been if you don't live in the area, this is none of your business, and if you do, then it is your responsibility to do something about it. If miningl damages you or your property, take it to court, not the legislature.

  • @blowery2

none of my business? am i imposing my views onto the west virginians? actually, the west virginians have been both suing (which takes time, and which the mining industries will fight to the death despite knowing they're in the wrong) and trying to get legislation passed. i'm SUPPORTING the efforts of the wronged west virginians and other victims of mountaintop removal mining. which side i support in the dispute is my business.

  • @blowery2

it's interesting that you characterize my verbal/written denunciations of the coal mining industry's degrading the quality of life for west virginians and others as meddling in others' business. if you want to stand by and say that mining interests stomping on the faces of regular people in the hills of west virginia is not to be of our concern, then you're free to say it.

  • @blowery2

my bigger point is that looking at this purely in terms of property rights is inadequate

  • how is mining coal killing the planet if they reclaim the land and are prohibited from dumping in rivers...you all are so reactionary.

  • Rand Paul doesn’t care if he helps kill the planet as long corporations are taken care of.

  • ??? gulp!

  • scary

  • No one will miss hills, no one will miss clean water, no one will miss clean air, no one will miss an environment that supports life.

    Fuck Rand Paul.

  • wonderfull

  • What an idiot...

  • i am starting a new business selling old ukranian nukelar weapons grade plutonium i live right next door to rand paul on my own private property i keep the really hot stuff in my basement. also for sale, used hypodermic syrunges and samples of plague and anthrax.

  • @floydstinkyboy

hey nothing wrong with that. you're just running a business right?

  • i supported Ron Paul but I wouldn't vote for Rand Paul if you held a gun to my head.

Rand Paul admits that, unlike his father, he's no LIbertarian. I see him just as a Corporate Whore.

And he disagrees w/ his father on at least 5 major issue -- that I side w/ his father on.

WE DON'T NEED HIM IN CONGRESS.

  • Yeh, ol' Randy doesn't know what he's talking about.

  • A frigg'in idiot.
