@WannaKickYourAssToo This isn't playback, it's just a very overdone, very gated, very autotuned, very overproduced live performance.

Yahoo's live performances are sometimes playback, don't get me wrong, but the bassist's bass is a bit out of tune. I'd be totally shocked if Yahoo would let that slip through the cracks of a playback track.

Also, Dexter's vocals at 2:50 fade in and out as he moves.

Mmm difficult to say about the vocals... definitely does sound very autotuned on this recording which is a bit of a shame as it's live...

I wouldn't say Dexter was a bad vocalist but it seems that the band crack most of their songs in keys that are right at the top end of his range... despite the inconsistency of the vocals when not autotuned I guess it gives them unique-sounding vocals which can be make perfect in the ol' studio

But overall a great band, bought two albums for Christmas ;)

Hey I'm 23 and grew up listening to these guys, but the truth is Dexter is not a natural vocalists. He struggles to sing the songs all the time, always has.. of course some performances are better than others.

I think he's singing fine. The original recording makes his voice sound more dramatic for sure but he's doing fine here. Plus the microphone or something is capturing all the high in his voice and less low end. Also when he pulls back the mic really drops in DB's fast which means its likely Hyper Cardioid and most singers are used to cardioids so when they pull back to sign louder the level change sounds more linear.
