So, I am a student soon to be in grade 11. I have taken art in grade 9 and 10, and plan to do so again in grade 11 and 12, but my art consists primarily of paintings (scenery, people, etc...very little architecture). Is that a problem?
@alexpro00red3 Not at all. Most 5 or 6 year architecture schools DO NOT want to see ANY technical drawings. They are primarily interested in your creativity and sketching ability. You should definitely include some painting/sculpture work, but try to focus on sketching and anything that demonstrates your creativity.
You will spend the first year of school learning how to draft regardless of how competent you are.
(I am a working professional and graduate of architecture school)
Well now in art class we are working on an assignment where we have to design a house, it's floorplan, elevations, etc. and put it all together on a board with a company name/logo plus the house name. We also must include a two point perspective view of the house that is painted with watercolour and scenery....It is actually quite interesting. The only problem now is that i am not sure if I have enough passion for architecture...at least as a 16 year-old.
Hi I really enjoy your website and vids.. i was wondering which software would be easiest to use for creating this important grid. Really would appreciate some good advice thanks.
i am 17 and a junior in hs i have always wanted to b an architect because i just love the buildings and beautiful houses but i am not such a good drawer is there still time to learn and please tell how ???
i would also like to know how to search for internships in architecture firms?/
pls pls pls respond
i would like help from yo or anyone who wants to respond =]
hey i study Architecture first year.. i can tell you its easy to learn + you dont really need to be talented to draw.. you will use all the tools like a rule etc which will facilitate ur work... and finaly we now use a lot autocad to design so you shouldnt worry about it. cuz after one semester u will probably start using all the programs co create plans, and 3D...
@peruanoflife real life experience --- it's crucial to know how to sketch while in university, but when u r applying for jobs, they love to see more of how well do you know about TECHNICAL DRAWINGS i.e. the money-making stuffs , for example construction drawings/ details etc. it's easy to search for internships -- just go to any websites and email the human resources department, and it's best if you can get your tutor/professor to recommend you to any firms. good luck :)
it's best not to frame your work -- let each of your renderings speak itself in it's own way in individual pages -- tht adds more characteristics to each and every page i think. just my two cents.
You say, that too much text wont be good. How about including text works in your portfolio like architectual reviews, essays, press releases etc.
What do you think?
