Hank, do a little math for me: solar radiation at best is 1 kW per square meter. That is to say at the equator, at noon.

How much solar panel do you need to replace one 1500 MW coal plant? Please factor in that you will not be at the equator, a few bad days and generally everything that you need to account for if you want electricity 24/7.

Oh... and can I also a listing of materials consumption for this? You know, of Germanium, Indium and such? Thanks.

That's really sad too. I'll have to look into that, but I think it's a totally different scale of destruction.

The problem with wind is that they are placed in the migration paths of birds (as they follow the strongest jet streams). Also, just by flying by, the change in pressure causes the lungs in bats to explode, so they don't even have to touch it to die.

No bats = way more bugs = unstable ecosystem.
