How are you, ngondeg! Don't mad at me. I know this is your favor. I agree he is springy on most of aspects. In my impression, we should treat him as a master. Correct me if I am wrong. His hips, lower limbs and spinal movements are all excellent. But maybe because of that, his upper limbs and shoulders are relatively less desired. Just my 2c.
I'd say that his joints are 'well connected' and thus not loose. Kind of like osier is. Shen Yanlu has his own flavour to it, but generally it is a chuojiaofanzi requirement (at least Beijing line). I'm not sure, but this requirement seems to differ from those of say xibei fanzi, or donbei fanzi. It is not the same style anymore, even if the root is common.
i've seen better fanzi

I think it may be a very traditional, more internal based fanzi quan similar to the hui styles of xing yi and pi gua

it's a norther (norther-western to be exact) style but is usually taught in conjunction of Fanzi.

so you do the real fanzi? where do you study?
airforceallie 4 years ago
No offense. Every style is real. If you happen to know Chinese, please go to read the history of Fanzi. Thanks for sharing.

i meant real compared to the modern fanzi that you didn't like. i wouldn't call that real.
airforceallie 4 years ago
Well, Sawa, I wouldn't call that stiffness.
In fact Shen's moves are quite springy.

Hi Sawa. No, I'm not mad at you :)
His shenfa is very strong and so are his hands.
