  • granted, jokers origin story in burtons film is a loosely adapted version from the killing joke. other than that, i see absolutely nothing else in the film relevant to the comics.

  • MDR !!!

  • I which the music in the new batman movies was this good.

  • DRAMATIC MANBAT 1:43

  • i vote for this batman and theme for akam city game instead of te comic one

  • Check my comments in my channel for information about the Pre-January 8th version of Inception.

  • I think it goes Batman Returns, Batman, Batman Forever, then Batman and Robin. (My Order Of Preference)

  • Ive seen this film how many times???? Still to this day I love this movie, I never get tired of it. I saw The Dark Knight a few times and while it was good, I still never can get away from how appealing and fun this movie is

  • I just watched this for the first time, and this is easily the best Batman film I've ever seen

  • I really enjoyed Bale's Batman in both films. But I will admit this. Bale's bat suit (both of them) and his tumbler batmobile aren't even half as iconic as Keaton's 2 bat suits or his demented hot rod batmobile. Consider this, anti-Keatons. If you have to reach back over 20 YEARS just to make film comparisons, it really just goes to show that Tim Burton's original Batman (1989) is still a heavy weight champ in the Batman movie franchise today. It's just chalked full of great mystic elements.

  • bale looks ridiculous..... i would rather wear the 60s batman outfit.. really... and the batmobile is UGLY... well i guess you could say..... goes well with the new suit... duh duh ... umm i thought batman is supposed to have some sex appeal...here he acts like a brute. no romance... no seal kiss from a rose... none of that... hmmmmm does he growl at the women too? lol.... the "new" batman is .. just not quite right... not slick... suave and sexy...just a meh.... i dont even care what he is.

  • Jack nicolson totally steals the show. I LOVE his as JOKER! Now....he was really funny. God bless heath. Any lover of Batman will gladly accept any form of art when it comes to the BAT. xoxo love all the films

  • Too bad 6 years later a new director had to add robin and give batman a new outfit. And made these the worst batman movies with batman and robin 8 years later.

  • into the air, junior birdman! miss me?yeah, watch me!

  • This is obviously a recut trailer it can't be the original because it looks and sounds like it was edited by a 12 year old in a hurry.

  • I always thought it was weird that they put Nicholson's name first. I know it was because he was the bigger actor at the time, but c'mon, he's the villain! Same for the original Superman. I mean, they're only the guys who play the title role, no biggie.

  • best batman movie this and batman returns and gotham was realy godhic and i like the batmobiel more

  • "Is there a 6ft bat in Gotham City?!"

    Naw...more like 5ft :P

  • I don't understand how pepole can't like this movie....OK Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are better, but that doesn't make the 89 film bad, does it? - Not in my opinion

  • @MrDavidFILM

I think you are right. This is a good film!

  • the best bat mobile from all times

  • @lordcapucino Agreed. The Tumbler was a mean piece of work, but I think it should have been dubbed the Bat-tank instead. Burton's Batmobile is the single most badass thing on 4 wheels ever.

  • 1:41

  • I just noticed... the bat symbol on his costume IS NOT RIGHT! I saw that movie 3 millions times, and it's the first time I noticed that the movie box and his costume don't share the same symbol.

  • excuse me you ever dance witht the devil by the peal moon light....

im gonna kill you ....joker.. you idot u made me remeber you drop in that bad of chemicals and dont think i didnt try batman i know you did punch you killed my parents spit hahahah what talking bout i made u u made me first he bat brain i was a kid when i killed your parents

  • this is still one of my favorite movies and dark knight

  • its depressing that i have this and ghostbusters 1 and 2 on VHS in my house but then i nolonger have a video to play them on! old films are so much better on tape!!

  • Batman is one of my all time favorite movies. Michael Keaton was definitely the best Batman ever. Jack Nickolson was perfect Joker. Kim Basinger was stunning and brilliant as always. Fantastic Movie!!!

  • @ViolaXZ

I think that Heat Ledger was better Joker than Nicholson, but it is just my opinion.

I do not mean enything bad but Nicholson does not have K in it.

  • @Wiikeri I won't judge you. Everyone has his own opinion. I liked Nickolson's Joker better. That's ok

  • @ViolaXZ but it's true that Nicholson is a lot funnier than Ledger. (Even you weren't saying so).

  • Classic.

  • This is Batman as a comic book character. Begins and TDK are Batman if he existed in a real life setting. That's how I interpret these live action versions. Both are good in their own right, just depends on what you're interested in more.

  • Its all about DC u idiot

  • Awesome movie. Bad trailer.

  • trailers have changed so much in recent years. this one was put together last minute, but it drew massive applause from theatre audiences.

  • MTV movie awards should of give both Micheal Keaton and Jack Nicholson a silver bucket for best achievement as stars of Batman(1989)

  • @vorsdec I agree. Both did a great job!

  • The Batcar in Tim Burtons Batman is so Sweet looking! loves it! =D

  • Yes, this movie has the all-time best Batmobile

  • it's the greatest!

The new Tumbler is okay, like it's a tough vehicle, but the one in Burton's Batman is just too cool for words.

  • 1:17

    ¿Who are you? O.O

    *a short silence*

I´m Batman...... (such a great voice tone)

    n____n LOVE that cuote!!! :)

  • I know this will start a youtube battle here, but this will be my only comment:

    Fuck you, Count Olaf

  • Bah, another little kid who grew up with the new stuff.

The new ones aren't bad, but this MADE the current movies a possibility. This is the real inspiration, and the real art.

As far as the characters having no personality...yeah...Jack Nicholson....he's just so dull alright.

    Please, kiddo.

  • Ahem, You act as if Batman 1989 was the first comic book film. I grew up with this film and I still acknowledge the Dark Knight as the greatest comic film of all time. The Batman comic made Batman films possible. With Spiderman making comic book movies soo popular a Batman movie was inevitable reguardless of whether or not this movie even existed.

  • Oh, and as far as bale goes....he has....BY FAR...WITHOUT QUESTION....the WORST Batman voice of ANY of them. Period. Not debatable.

Yes, Batman disguies his voice, but Bale is SO over the top and SO forced sounding, it makes it hard to listen to his scenes or take his acting seriously.

It's sort of like watching a kid who hasn't hit puberty yet trying to put on a deep voice....just painful.

Until they fix that, Bale isn't close to Keaton.

  • @spiffy72985

I disagree. I think Bales voice is more Batman like than Keytons.

  • @CountOlaf94

I think your right! Fuck you, Birdman 1138

  • If you find the Nolan Bat films an improvement over the Burton Bat films and wasn't born in the 1980s - that's your perrogative. Some of us still have a sense of nostalgia to first the Batman film in 1989. It was an exciting "Summer of blockbusters" which occurred and the term was coined. The Nolan bat films are a reboot and great for today's generation. Some of us from the 80s can still embrace change. Too bad its not vice versa.

  • I like the Nostalgia of this film and the animated series. Thank you for taking the words out of my mouth.

  • @Icedhope

I hate that fucking word "nostalgia". This or anything else that has past doesnt rule because it was just something we grew up with. It rules because till today nothing can beat it! The Dark Knight was a great movie for NOW but honestly I would take THIS Batman movie and Batman Returns over Dark Knight anyday! And not because its "nostalgic", because its STILL FUCKING BRILLIANT!

  • @ColorsBright

    oh yeah and

    Keaton >>>>> Bale

Burton is the BEST at capturing the atmosphere of Gotham and Batman.

Dark Knight was a great movie as I mentioned but I still say you could slap on any characters making it a COP or Gangster movie and it still would have been the same movie.

  • @ColorsBright I disagree? I think from what novels ive read, that nolan captures the atmoshphere of gotham better? But its all opinion i guess :)

  • keaton was awesome as batman...terrible as bruce wayne @ColorsBright

  • i freaking agree with you :-D

  • I totally agree with you!

  • @ColorsBright i understand im the same way but it does bring me back never the less

  • @ColorsBright, you're so full of shit. This and Returns are dated and don't stand the test of time. FX was still in its basic stages back then. They're good for their time but they certainly don't measure up to Nolan's Batman films either. Those are brilliant whereas Burton's were FLAWED.

  • @Kyros

Everything becomes dated, this doesn't mean their value, even if it's only nostalgic, is diminished. If that were true no one would be listening to Led Zeppelin, watching Star Trek, or reading Don Quixote. Yet, all three of those are still significant, not to mention popular - and yet they are dated.

  • @TampaRed It means a certain quality is lacking. Music and movies are two different mediums. One to listen and want to watch AND listen. This is a solid movie for its time but it hasn't aged well is what I'm getting at.

  • @ColorsBright I agree and all, but this trailer is just plain bad.

I've heard there was another, non fan made trailer somewhere, but I can't find it.

Of course, this was the best Batman movie ever to grace this world, and it's a shame they couldn't let Tim Burton continue with the four movies that followed Batman Returns.

  • @ColorsBright I dunno man Batman Returns is too weird, Batman 89 and Nolan's movies are way better than Returns.

  • @ColorsBright You my friend, have uttered one of the TRUEST statements ever to be posted on Youtube.

    Ku-Fucking-DOS, Bro!

  • @ColorsBright totally agree with you dude.

  • @ColorsBright pada suatyu ksah tersebgtyulah kisah.,mmmm hantyu rttyunhggt terbanghty thggiii mereatap lah kasighhhh<kskjsjsliuyoyoieyoeoie

  • @ColorsBright nolans batmans > burtons batmans

but atleast burton made decent batman films....schumacher just sucked

  • @ColorsBright I sadly don't grew up with the first movie, BUT I prefer Burton ones (and maybe Forever) than Nolans. Because they are more true to the comics. And Keaton KICKS ASS

  • @DeepEye1994 wait up... burtons films are more true to the comics??? WHAT? have you ever read a batman comic? apparantly not. he dosent KILL PEOPLElike he did in burtons movies (kind of defeats his own purpose there), or sleep hanging upside down, or need glasses when not in his batsuit (wtf?) ect... and almost every scene of batman begins was adapted directly out of classic batman books every real fan knows like "year one."

i like burtons films but what you said was not logical at all.

  • @pctgraverobba Batman DOES kill people you moron (I called you moron for accusing me to be a not Batcomic book reader). In the most original versions,Batman actually goes around with a GUN and kills most of the criminals. They make him less a masked avenger to be more a kids model.Keaton was not sleeping upside down, he was doing exercises.

So ONLY if I readed Year One(1987) I know perfectly how Batman is.

NOT TRUE, Nolantard. To be a good Bat-fan you have to read ALSO some golden-silver series.

  • @DeepEye1994 okay...so before batman was developed as a character he took some lives back in the 1950s. completely unrelated. dc has retconned all of that out of continuity for good reason. the modern batmans entire reason for donning the mantle is to prevent death as much as possible. his vow to never take a life is an obvious and well known character trait, and even people who havent read comics know that. "nolantard"? are you kidding me? i like burtons films better, but nolan is more accurate

  • @DeepEye1994 youre right...burtons films are more grounded in the world of the comics.... which is exactly why he was going to cast marlon wayans as robin, and the penguin was a disfigured mutant who lives in the sewers.......

  • @pctgraverobba Chris O'Donnell was Robin. He wasn't bad in 'Batman Forever' but he was an annoying pain in the ass in 'Batman & Robin'.

Oh also, Penguin wasn't a "mutant" he was born deformed (there is a difference between a person physically deformed at birth and a mutant). He didn't live in the sewers, he actually hides in that abandoned arctic wildlife zoo, remember?

  • @DeepEye1994 no shit chris o donnel was robin...wasnt a tim burton flick either. he was originally going to cast marlon wayans. and yes, penguin lived in the sewer. the zoo became his base late in the movie....

  • @pctgraverobba Nope. watch the movie again, he lives in the Arctic World at Gotham's zoo, wich is also connected with the sewers. Watch the movie again also because it's great.

  • also...it was the joker (not joe chill) who killed bruce waynes parents...just like in the comics.....??????

  • @pctgraverobba Oh yeah? And so Joker was just a scarred and painted dude that doesn't use mortal clown-weapons;that's more true to the comics, right?Or how about Dent get JUST a burned side and not actually get scarred from acid splashed by Sal Maroni like what happened in Batman Forever and in the COMICS?

I said that the 89-95 ones are JUST more true to the comics, not EXACTLY like the comics. You are still losing,Nolantard. I suggest you to stop now, I'm getting pretty SICK of this conversation.

  • @DeepEye1994 were talking about tim burton films.... he never even used two face as a villain.

tommy lee jones acted more like the joker than two face anyway (in the SHUMACHER films, which were both horrible). harvey dents character is much more accurate in the dark knight, despite how they changed his origin. hell, if you can accept the penguin being a disgusting disfigured sewer dweller surely you can get over nolans two face origin. am i getting trolled, because this is really fucking stupid

  • @pctgraverobba And so why are you complaining that Joker killed Bruce's parents? That was a invention to make Batman and Joker's hostility more personal. But If nolan's Two-Face is "more accurate" even the changement of his origin, than Nicholson's Joker is more accurate than Ledger despite the fact he's Bruce's parent's killer instead of Joe Chill!

  • @DeepEye1994 nicholson WAS a better joker. stop trying to make my opinions for me. te fact is, you started your argument with this sentence- "Batman DOES kill people you moron"... fail. i shouldnt have even responded the 1st time.

  • @pctgraverobba I regret the "moron" and "Nolantard" too,I'm sorry. Really? You prefer Nicholson's Joker?YESSS!!!Ok, I'm really changing my mind in you!

Anyway, yes you're right in saying that Burton didn't read the comics before making the movie, but he NEVER said that he"hates"them, he wasn't a big reader of strips in general. Burtons loves"Batman: Killing Joke"and I agree,Killing Joke is my second favorite Batman's comic. My favorite is Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns".

    What's yours?

  • @DeepEye1994 Dark Knight Returns is def one of my favorites.... a 55 year old batman beating supermans unaging ass.... whats not to love? hard to say what my FAVORITE ever is, though.... serious house on serious earth, lovers and madmen, knightfall..... tough call, man...too tough

  • @DeepEye1994 how am i losing? i make valid points, and you respond with a paragraph about the difference between a mutant and a disfigured person....

tim burton hates comic books, man.... hes never read one, and openly admits this in early interviews for this film, so how he would manage to be more accurate is far beyond me.

  • @pctgraverobba Tim Burton:"I never really reded them, but I've always loved the image of Batman and The Joker. The reason I've never been a comic book fan-and I think it started when I was a child-is because I could never tell which box I was supposed to read.I don't know if it was dyslexia, but that's why I loved The Killing Joke, because for the first time I could tell which one to read. It's the first comic I've ever loved. And the success of those graphic novels made our ideas more acceptable"

  • @DeepEye1994 that burton quote you posted was from the killing joke hard cover edition recolored version, which is a proud part of my collection

  • Both great actors in this classic movie!

  • Keaton and Nicholson Rule in their roles.

  • Classic movie, classic soundtrack, classic actors in Keaton and Nicholson, and did I mention this movie is a classic!

  • What about Batman Begins and Dark Knight?

  • Wow, dude, just give it some time. *lol* That's like putting Dwayne Wade in the basketball hall of fame. You know it's going to happen...but not yet. *lol*

  • Well modern audiences are embracing these new Batman movies. They aren't related to the previous Batman movies, they are basically part of a new reboot series after Joel Schumacher damaged the old series which started well with Tim Burton's first two then went to crap with Schumacher's. It's just that i still do love the first two movies of the old series but i love the new ones even more. And do you think Ledger nearly surpasses Nicholson?

  • Fan of the new BM movies, huh? I couldn't tell. *lol* I think you asked b4 what I thought of Ledger and Nicholson, so I'll give 'ya my analysis again: Ledger brought a lot to the table in TDK in a perverse kinda way. I mean, the guy stole the flick, imo. Nicholson' s was more well rounded with a blend of humor, deceit, and his 'Joker' was a deadly character; Like unto Ledger's rendition.

  • You gotta admit Batman and Robin was a big turd that shouldn't have gotten made. But still both Jokers are excellent don't you think as Ledger's still is the better Joker now that he has won an academy award for his brilliant role.

  • Had he lived, he wouldn't have won it. It was a sympathy award. Though, his performance was off the chart.

B&R was terrible, but I can still watch it b4 I can watch 'Hulk' 2003! That movie is shown in hell round the clock! *LMAO*

  • Yeah, looking back on it, you may be right. Nobody in a supporting role did better than Heath in 2008. The only one that may have had a chance of beating him was Phillip Seymour Hoffman in (Doubt) 2008. Great movie, btw.

  • @SidJustice1

It was not a shymphaty award! He is a great actor and that is a fact. He would have won.

  • @Johnlindsey289

I think Batman and Robin is a good movie even George Clooney can not act like all the other Batmans.

  • @Wiikeri

"I think Batman and Robin is a good movie..."

You sir, have just lost ALL credibility. ;)

  • Schmacher didn't damage the series he just damaged his career with B&R. I actually thought BF wasn't too bad (it couldn't touch the first two films @ all, but I felt it was ok.) *lol*

  • Not even Bale and Ledger are this good?

  • (**1:42-1:59.**.).

    Classic!

  • 1:42-1:59! Agree. Truly Iconic!

  • No Doubt The Best Batman Movies Ever Made, First One And Second One But Unfortunately We'll Never Going To See a Masterpiece Like This.

Warner Brothers Was Very Wrong To Give The Franchise To Director Christopher Nolan, He's Not The Right Director For Batman, He Doesn't Know How To Make The Special Touch For This Hero.

Batman Begins And The Dark Knight Were a Little Relief After The Bad Movies Of Schumacher, Long Time, New Generation Are Blind. But It's Not The Batman's Resurrection.

  • Spot on Nolan's batman films are just overrated.

This film was the best and always will be!!

  • Agreed now i did like Nolans movies but ynderneath the big sets and names and Ledgers joker (who was good but not MY vision of how he should be portrayed) TDK and BB didnt have the magic touch Burton brought to his movies they do look a bit dated by todays standards but the score, the sets and the main leads acting is classic cinema that shows an old movie can be timeless and can beat a new one if done right.

  • I became a Batman fan through the success of The Dark Knight, but this has now become my favourite Batman movie.

  • Look, the new Batman movies are not related to the older Batman movies, they are part of a Reboot series.

  • @principedecanaima

I think Nolan is the right director for Batman.

  • Ebert can't be more wrong. Batman is an antihero in Burton's movie. Did the old guy even watch the movie?

Burton was the right guy, absolutely.

  • A masterpiece.

  • LOL @ Ebert.

Bob Kane created Batman based on the pulpy noir detective stories of that era. Batman doesn't mix with noir? Heh, Batman wouldn't exist without noir.

  • i'm batmaaaahn.

  • strange editing. no music, lol.

  • "He stole my balloons!"

  • lol

  • Jack didn't kill his parents AAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

  • "You ever dance with the devil by the pale moonlight?"

  • Winged Freak Terrorizes... Wait til they get a load of me ... HAHAHAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH!!...
