  • My battery is glued to the underside of the tray, yours just lifts off, will prising it off damage it?

  • @gdewhurstuk Most batteries are held in place with adhesive. Carefully lifting it will not damage the device.

  • how much is the screen

  • @mrsmilly12345 Current prices can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Do I need to replace the LCD screen if it goes white? I can still hear the ipod make a noise when I plug it in, and I have purchased the digitizer screen. Will anything show up when I apply it? Please reply.

  • @InconceiveableC White screen can be caused by many things, LCD damage is one of them. If your iPod still connects, that is a good sign, as it shows the motherboard is still functioning. A LCD screen replacement would be suggested, as it is the cheapest, most likely way to resolve the issue. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • WHY DIDNT YOU SHOW HOW TO PUT IT BACK TOGETHER

  • @snohounited Follow this video in reverse to reassemble the device. All steps will be shown.

  • i have no screen digitizer just the Lcd and it charges on my pc and it plugs into itunes but the screen is blank. Im thinking that i may need to just get a New Lcd or do i just need a digitizer touch screen for it to be working properly again. The screen is just blank on the LCD shouldnt you still be able to see the screen and swipe to open it. It did that for like 20 min and then it went blank. Help me out Bro.

  • @DBLOCK136 In order to swipe the iTouch to unlock it you will need a touch screen digitizer attached. Without one, it should not effect the LCD display though. So if you are getting nothing but black screen, then it is possible the connection is either loose or the LCD screen will need replacing.

  • We're can you get the screen to replace it???

  • @samrath42711 Replacement screens can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • I was taking the lcd screen off, although I had originally seen another video that did not mention that small foil strip. this was ripped during the process of taking off the lcd. I have ordered a replacement lcd but from the picture i cannot tell if this foil strip is part of it or will i need to order a replacement for that as well

  • @strauss1421 The foil strip is suggested to be peeled back and reused, however if it is removed we have not seen any negative effects, even after long-term use.

  • It happens everytime. Not only today at first a white screen appeared but now it flickers so it got worse then the start. So should i open it like shown in your video? Or give it to a repair shop? And the only way for it to work (not flicker) is if i apply pressure to the power button.

  • @MrGamer971 It may be worth checking the LCD connection, however if you do not feel comfortable opening the device, I would suggest taking it to a local repair shop and getting the issue diagnosed.

  • Also for it to go away I have to put my hand gently on the on/off button for it to go away it's annoying...

  • @MrGamer971 That sounds odd. In most cases this would be caused by a loose LCD connection. Next time it happens, try applying a small bit of pressure above the home button on the front screen. If that stops the issue it is likely you just need to pop open the iPod and secure the LCD connection a bit better.

  • My iPod Touch keeps flickering white when I turn it on and is annoying, and sometimes when i even turn it on when the apple logo appears it flickers white. Is it a problem with the screen or my iPod. Advise would be helpful :)

  • Thank you I put it on charge and it sprung to life after 10 mins I nearly give up because I was so careful doing it thanks

  • @Jeffpea1201 Very nice! Glad that worked for you.

  • Hi I have changed screen and digitiser on my sons iPod 4 and turned it on then it went white and turned itself off and now I cannot turn it on can u help ?

  • @Jeffpea1201 I would suggest plugging it into a computer and seeing if iTunes will recognize it/charge it. If it is recognized then it is likely just a connection issue with the LCD screen.

  • If the ribbon cable ripped off do I need to buy a new screen ?

  • @WorldWideEpicGamers Correct. If the LCD flex cable is ripped, a replacement LCD would be needed. Sadly there is no way to re-attach a ripped cable.

  • Ok thanks that's what I thought, going to try that now...

  • @chocolatebunny0 No problem. Let us know if you have any further questions.

  • When replacing the screen, the LCD was touched and when I put the screen back on and turned it on, the screen was light and had a white tint to it and a black spot in the corner, is this a problem with the LCD or the screen not put on properly? Also does it matter if the ribbon to the screen is touched?

  • @chocolatebunny0 That sounds like the LCD screen was damaged. The ribbon cable will not be damaged by touch, but by being pulled or ripped in most cases.

  • How would I do that do u think im Albert instine

  • How Much Does It Cist To Replace An LCD Screen?

  • @ryu3567 LCD replacements are quite affordable. Check out our latest prices at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Trying to get the LCD back on and the little plug is not plugging or snapping in. Now what?

  • @all5balts I would double check the LCD screen with your old one to be sure the connector is the same. (2nd and 3rd gen look nearly identical but are not cross compatible). Check the pins on the motherboard as well to be sure none are bent, etc.

  • When you put the screen back on does it just pop back on?

  • @chocolatebunny0 Yes, you will just need to align it and press the pop connector into place. From there you can reassemble and it will start as normal.

  • Hey i was wondering will this fix the the white screen issue.i Have tried everything else like restoring rebooting and all that

  • @usa1232413 Many times a LCD replacement will resolve this issue, however it will depend on the reasoning behind the white screen. If it was caused by motherboard damage or water damage, it may not help. However if it is LCD damage, then yes, a replacement will fix.

  • @RepairsUniverse I had water damage and I now have the white screen. Would I know if it is worth replacing it if I know my music and pictures are still showing up on my itouch when I plug it into my computer?

  • @MsLittleengine Yes, if recognized by iTunes, it is a good chance that the motherboard is operating correctly and only the LCD screen has become faulty. There are many variables with water damage, but in your situation it sounds likely that a replacement LCD will resolve the issue. Replacement LCD screens are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • How can I take it apart without removing screws

  • @bob3063v To remove the LCD screen you will need to remove the screws holding the the metal plate in place. No way of getting around that sadly.

  • how easy, nice and calm to spread

  • hey, i just replaced my ipod touch that ive had for YEARS NOW! and the screen was cracked because of a fat guy at the park.lol ikr, well anyway he cracked the digitalizer and i just replaced the digitalizer and the lcd. and b4 i replaced it the digitalizer still responded to my touch but the screen was really really really DIM, so i replaced both of them and im charging it but the screen is still dim. ima wait and see if it is still dead or idk any suggs?

  • @LegitVisionz The dim backlight can be caused by either a damaged (or faulty LCD) or motherboard damage. If it is motherboard damage, then replacing the LCD screen will not resolve the issue. Sadly there is no quick fix to that issue. You can check the connections on the motherboard as well as check for damage, however it is unlikely you can fix the issue without needing a replacement motherboard.

  • @RepairsUniverse where are the motherboard connections...behind the motherboard or where?

  • @LegitVisionz Near the LCD connector is where I would be focused. Around 3:00 in the video and under the metal plate near the battery as well.

  • Okay, so my ipod touch screen is cracked, but i dont know if its the lcd, or just the digitizer. Can you help me??(:

  • @AubreyDrakeForever digitalizer...

  • @AubreyDrakeForever If the image appears fine and it is only the outer glass screen that is cracked, then you will need to replace the touch screen digitizer. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • where can I get these tools and the new screen to repair my 2nd gen?

  • @uwmpanther88 Replacement screens and repair tools can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • just fixed my iPod touch with no problems. Thanks for the help keep it up

  • @ironman0161 Great work! No problem, glad the video was able to help you out.

  • So how DO you replace it?

  • @xnicoleNIGHTMAREE Place the new LCD screen in, connect it to the motherboard, and you can then follow the video in reverse for the rest of the steps required to fully assemble the iTouch.

  • yes i did damage the mid frame and i bought a new digitizer a while back but i cant figure out how to take those two broken strips of plastic out i already scratched the lcd and completely stopped

  • @jn9655 A broken mid frame can be a pain to remove, but we normally suggest using a small flat head screwdriver or something sturdy to lift it by the edges. Another way would be remove the LCD screen and that should give you enough room to remove them without worry of damaging the LCD further.

  • how do you take the complete digitizer off i went between the glass and plastic instead of the plastic and metal the digitizer is off but 2 strips of plastic are still there

  • @jn9655 Was the mid frame (plastic) damaged then? If so, you can remove the rest of the mid frame and we would suggest purchasing a new one. It is very important to pry between the metal and plastic, otherwise mid frame damage is likely.

  • I have some dead pixels i think, they show up grey. And then i have some cracks. Do i need to replace both the digitizer and lcd? and then as for the metal case, can i get a case that is brand new no scratches? i think i could sell this thing for alot more as it has no damage other than the screens, and case. its a 2g

  • @simonsimons34 Yes, in this situation you would need both the glass touch screen digitizer and LCD screen. Replacement back covers are also available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Ok mate so i also had that dim backlight problem and your video helped me successfully change the LCD screen on my 2nd gen iPod touch, but now its not responding to my fingers when i try to select things...

this wasn't the case before, can anyone/you please help!?

  • @TheDundeekid This is likely just a connection issue on the touch screen. Check the connection at 1:25 in this video and be sure it is fully in place.

  • Wat seid ihr Doof

  • while i was prying it open i damaged that one metal sqaure next to the cable that connects the eqaulizer. is that part replaceable?

  • @TUFsStretch I believe you are referring to metal clip on the housing, correct?

If so, a replacement back housing would include these clips. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

If it is a different metal piece, please point out a time in the video when it can be seen.

  • @RepairsUniverse sorry im not being very specific but its right next to where you connect the digitlizer. it has some letters and numbers on it. I cant really point out a time in the video but @ 1:40 you can kinda see it.

  • this sutupid piece of shit won't let the screen off and its cracking the shit out of the screen when i try to take it off

  • My LCD backlight is also out. U can c all the icons with a bright light. I've replaced the LCD twice. What else can it b? The iPod works perfectly other than that. Also the moister tab is red. Is this iPod fixable?

  • @Ilovemeta1 Likely a motherboard issue. This is normally a very expensive repair and is quite difficult to find replacement motherboards. It is fixable, but may be considered "totaled".

  • So my Ipod Touch works but the back light doesn't turn on, I am assuming its an LCD problem. Am i right or is their something else i can use.

  • @KalabeHaile Yes, you are correct, this is the most common reason for backlight issues. However in some cases it may be a motherboard issue, in which case a LCD replacement will not resolve the issue.

  • Oh and what do I need to replace it a LCD screen replacement or just an ipod screen replacer?

  • @mirdude08 You will need to replace the glass touch screen digitizer. If the display LCD screen has been damaged the images will not display properly. If this is the case, you will need to replace the LCD screen as well. Replacement screens and tools can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • my brothers ipod has smashed with cracks in, some of the actual screen has come off do I use the same procedure as you said in the video. Where do I get a safe open pride tool?

  • Im trying to remove the screws from the panel and some successfully came out but the ones from the left side dont want to :(.....any suggestions?

  • @getyourmakeup Be sure you are using a #00 Phillips screwdriver. Some screws can get stubborn, use a decent amount of pressure and take your time with them - they become a real pain if they become stripped.

  • is it safe to put double sided tape under the LCD of a 2g ..... or is that not needed or not recommended

  • @gameking150 You can use a small bit of adhesive to just hold the screen in place while continuing to assemble, but really not necessary. Once the mid frame/touch screen is in place it will hold the LCD firmly in place. Just be sure it does not lift the LCD too much, otherwise the touch screen can come in contact with it and cause issues.

  • @RepairsUniverse My iPod's screen (behind outer panel) got pressure on it. Now it has smears on it, can I fix it?

  • @TheJonathan007ish Yes, this is the LCD screen that has been damaged. Replacements can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • my lcd screen has gone white after i opened my ipod touch to fix the headphone jack, i got some finger prints on the screen and after cleaning it with an appropriate cloth it went blank :s helpp???

  • @fazalha777 Likely just the connection got jarred loose during the repair. Or possible the LCD screen was damaged. I would check the LCD connection first and see if it is fully in place.

  • Thanks

  • @johntg96 No problem at all!

  • I have a few non working pixels on my iPod and the warranty has expired. I don't want to do that myself bit is there any were to send it

  • @johntg96 Yes, many local shops can preform this repair, as well as sending it off to get repaired. Search around, there are some reputable places that will do the repair for a decent price.

  • so my 2nd gen touch screen doesn't work, the homeing button works, the screen is slightly cracked but it doesn't react when i touch the screen. What part of the i pod should i fix? is it just the screen or some kind of expensive touch receptor? It would help me out a lot to hear back! thanks

  • @tikimojoe This is just a non functional touch screen digitizer. Replacing this screen will resolve the issue, assuming the motherboard is not damaged. The screen itself is very inexpensive by relative standards. Replacement touch screens and tools can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • where you get the tools?

  • @johnsondang You can find all the repair tools and replacement parts at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Does anyone know where to buy safe pry tools locally? I don't want to wait for them in the mail?

  • @dago4sho Local repair shops normally have them. Also a great alternative is a guitar pick.

  • I hate how people post comments saying to get app trailers and then put in a 'code'. if you enter that 'code' they say to enter, you're pratically giving them points to trade in for money.

  • Had my ipod since the 2nd gen came out, LCD burn and a crack on the touch screen, what do I need to buy to replace it?

  • @xJPTMBx If the LCD display and glass touch screen digitizer is cracked, both will need to be replaced. Both of these screens are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. Recommended tools can also be found there.

  • can anyone help my internal and external is cracked what is the cheapest way to get it fixed

  • @zOpTiiCz Doing the repair yourself is the cheapest way to fix. Replacement parts, screens, and tools can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • @RepairsUniverse thanks 4 helping

  • @zOpTiiCz No problem at all. Let us know if you have any other questions.

  • My ipod's touch capability does not work but it turns on normally will i need a new LCD screen?

  • @panch0712 If there is just no display, yes a replacement LCD should resolve the issue, assuming there is no motherboard damage.

  • How would I replace the wifi antenna for an ipod touch 2g? My ipod doesn't pick up any wifi

  • @LukeDeezNuts You would need to continue to disassemble the iPod Touch. You will need to remove the battery and motherboard. The wifi flex is located behind the motherboard. From there it is a simple disconnect and reconnect the replacement.

  • after i did this my ipod wont come on any tips on something i can do please help ?

  • @TheBrownprider7 Will a iTunes recognize the iTouch? If it is recognized then it is likely just an issue with the LCD's connection to the motherboard - whether that be damage to the flex cable, faulty screen, or just a bad connection. If it is not recognized then I would disassemble and check all the connection again.

  • Thanks for the great video :).. My backlight is broken so the screen is very dim. Will a new LCD screen fix this?

  • @k13ren No problem at all. It will depend on what caused the issue, if it was just a physical drop, then likely yes. If it was water damage, it may be a bit more complicated.

  • @RepairsUniverse my ipod's backlight went dim after water damage. ive ordered a new glass screen and new lcd...but that mioght not fix the problem? is it fixable?

    :(

  • @sonjamarie420 Water damage is tricky - If it is only the screens that were damaged then your replacement screens will resolve the issue. However there is a chance it is the motherboard that was damaged and can possibly cause the issue (pretty rare, but always worth considering), in which case the iPod would be considered "totaled". But in your scenario it sounds very likely that a replacement LCD will resolve your backlight issues.

  • If my touch screen does not work, but the screen displays properly, do I have to replace the LCD? or Just the Glass?

  • @gonzike You will only need to replace the glass touch screen digitizer. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • I completely mangled both of the safe-pry tools that came with my kit, but I managed to get it open anyway. I wasn't sure how much pressure was safe to use in prying off the glass.

  • @TerranRich Yes, it can be a bit tricky with these. It normally will just depend on how strong the adhesive is. Many times the safe pry tools are perfect for these (they wont damage the housing at all), other times you will need to step it up to something a bit more sturdy (small flat head, metal pry tool, etc.).

  • @RepairsUniverse That's what I did, I stepped it up with the included mini-flathead screwdriver. It worked, and I'm enjoying my Touch and its new screen. Either way your tutorial definitely helped, and I'm grateful for it. :)

  • @TerranRich Glad to hear. We normally only use flat heads and metal pry tools, but it does take some practice to insure no damage occurs. We are glad the video helped out! Do enjoy your repaired iTouch :)

  • I have a 2nd Gen iPod Touch, and one day about a year ago I dropped it into the sink while doing dishes, it was fully submerged for a few seconds but I pulled it out, shut it down and put it in a bag of rice for a few days, but now the screen is messed up, with lines running down it and it blinks at a very high rate. The screen is also cracked from another accident but I would like to know if the screen flicker is fixable or not?

  • @AirSOFTLOVER12 I would suggest plugging into a computer to see if iTunes will recognize it. If it is recognized it is a good chance that a LCD replacement will fix the issue. If it does not get recognized, it is possible motherboard damage, making it much more costly to repair.

  • @RepairsUniverse Yes, my computers recognize it, like I said it's been a year since this indecent and other than the weird screen and cracks it functions fine. Thanks!

  • @AirSOFTLOVER12 iTunes recognizing it is a great sign that everything (besides the screen) is functioning properly. This makes for a very good chance that a LCD and touch screen digitizer replacement will get it working again. Replacement screens and parts are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

  • hi my ipod touch had an lcd problem lines are going across does it mean i need a new lcd also my lock button isnt work either is there any way to repair my 2nd gen ?

  • @pirashanna1 Yes, sounds like a fairly simple fix. Replacing the LCD will resolve this issue. As for the lock button, it is worth disassembling and checking out to see if you can see any damage. Replacement LCD screens and lock buttons / flex cables are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • How do I put it back on?

  • @Pistonsfanforlife09 You can simply follow this guide in reverse. Be sure all connections go in secure.

  • I have a iPod touch 2nd gen and it has like bubbles in the back screen like it's hard to explain and also the screen is cracked. But back to my question , the bubbles appear to be like a liquid from the iPod cause it sometimes throws out a horrible smell from the volume buttons can you tell me what I have to replace.

  • @resqz Sounds like LCD damage. Bubbles are rare though, however replacing the LCD screen and your cracked glass touch screen digitizer should get your iPod Touch fully functional again. These replacement parts and repair tools can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • if my ipod was dropped in water what are the posibilities that nothing really happend to it because my ipod starts and it still has the music but the touch doesnt work but everything else on it works the voulume the memory i can put music and everything.. could it be just a loose or damaged wire?

  • @08niners With water damage its always hard to say for 100% without testing. But it sounds like just your touch screen is damaged. You can find the touch screen replacements at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • @RepairsUniverse ok thanks .. much appriciated ill ask my friend hes all tech nd what not ahah hopefully its just that nd i could sell it and make a profit =D

  • @08niners Sounds promising, only one quick way to find out - replace the screen and see if it works. Good luck!

  • Right then, wish me luck.

    Thanks for the guide

  • you didnt show how to put it on

  • @lildjmix08 The replacement will go on the exact way the old screen came off. Just be sure the connection to the motherboard is secure.

  • Thank you this video was very helpful

  • @linkthefox No problem at all! Glad you found it useful!

  • I replaced the lcd but it won't respond. The power button does nothing, and it isn't syncing with my pc, can anyone help?

  • @robperry93 I would suggest making sure the LCD screen was replaced with the correct generation. Check the part numbers on the cables. Also check the motherboard for any damage or loose connections.

  • I'm trying to remove the screen using a pry tool like you do in the video but all I seem to be doing is shredding the tip of the pry tool. What am I doing wrong?

  • Okay I got it off and replaced it. It works fine now but one thing worries me. When it says Slide to Unlock or Slide fo power off, I have issues getting it to slide all the way. I assume I didn't hook it up correctly?

  • @iamdavestinson Some iPod Touchs are a bit more stubborn than others. The key is to dig down deep inside and pull out the glass touch screen digitizer and the mid frame. Once you get part of the mid frame out, it is quite simple to work your way around the rest. We normally start in the lower sides and then move to the bottom. If you are a bit more experienced we suggest using something a bit stronger, such as a small flat head screwdriver, just keep in mind this can do quite a bit more damage.

  • What is the name of the Tools can I get them a store ?

  • @MAgAZiNEBARBiE The only tools needed for a LCD replacement on the iPod Touch 2nd gen are pry tools (plastic are preferred if you are inexperienced) and a small phillips screwdriver. You can find these and other tools and repair parts at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • is there any chance you can show how to attach the pop connector back on to the ipod. its driving me insane that its just not clipping back in. someone please help

  • @j300mindstorms This is normally quite simple. Check the flex cable connector for damage or bent pins. Do the same with the motherboard connection. If both seem correct, just apply a small bit of pressure to the top of the connector when aligned correctly and it should pop in.

  • @RepairsUniverse im trying to pop it in but its just impossible

  • @j300mindstorms It is likely some of the pins are damaged (bent). Pop connectors are nothing complicated, so it is likely an issue with the motherboard connector or the flex cable connector.

  • @RepairsUniverse ah i had a though something like that could be an issue. i'll have to check it out. thanks :)

  • @j300mindstorms No problem, hope your able to figure it out.

  • the battery is like super glued to the metal thing?! wtf!

  • @tw1stedKilla Some batteries can be very stubborn. We normally use a flat head screw driver and slowly work our way around it. You can also apply a small amount of heat around the battery (not too much!) and it may soften the adhesive enough to remove.

  • if i buy a screen from your website will it come? because ive been ripped of tomany times

  • @ApEsHiTviDs We ship the same day. You will also get tracking details via email so you can follow its progress. Standard shipping arrives in 2-5 days. Priority in 1-2. You can find more details on delivery times on our website at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • @RepairsUniverse i have an ipod touch 2g that fell in water i put in rice for a while and then later turned it back on but the LCD screen is white with streak marks it turns on and off but i dont know if its just the screen or can it be something more complicated.i also reset it but its still the screen is white with nothing on it. so if i replace the screen do you think there might be a chance of it working.

  • @deetoos my mom washed my ipod lol i have the same streaks as well

  • @deetoos Yes. Sounds like the LCD is damaged. A new screen should fix this issue. We have the replacements at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • @RepairsUniverse

    Alright thanks

Ill replace the screen hopefully it works

  • Ok hopefully I can get a response soon: I'm on the first step of the ipod when I'm prying the digitizer away from the chrome frame, there's a soft rubbery layer that fits between the two components. Am I taking the pry tool between the glass and the rubber or between the rubber and chrome?

  • @blackpanther6389 There are 3 layers to the screen - The glass touch screen digitizer, adhesive, and the mid frame. The goal is to remove the whole assembly. You may need to start by lifting the touch screen up until you can get under the mid frame, from there you should be able to release the full assembly.

  • Hey my itouch 2 wont respond, like I cant even turn it off. I cant slide the unlock bar, it doesnt respond to my touch. Is this a problem with the digitizer? or the touch screen? how do I fix it?

  • @BALROGSREVENGE Hmm, seems more like it is locked up if it wont power off. Does it sync with the computer?

  • @RepairsUniverse It syncs and I was wrong, it does power off. but it wont respond to my touch.

  • @BALROGSREVENGE Ah, ok, this is simply an issue with the touch screen digitizer. You may want to remove the screen and check for an issue with the flex cable or connection. If those check out, I would suggest replacing the screen. These can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. We also have the screen assembly which is a much simpler and fool proof repair.

  • @RepairsUniverse Awesome thats what I was hoping. Thank you so much!! Is this the part number I need? 1-B-0036

  • @BALROGSREVENGE No problem at all. Either 0036 or 0037. The assembly is suggested, just for ease, but is a bit pricier.

  • Where can I get some safe pry tools?

  • @blackpanther6389 Replacement parts and repair tools are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Careful to those with a 3rd gen ipod as the battery is soldered to that metal plate the lcd sit's on!
