Can you imagine having Nat King Cole as your father and deciding to follow in his footsteps. It's similar to Liza's decision to follow in her mother's footsteps. I do agree with Mrchirpsky. The ominous feeling of the song seems to say:"Gather the rosebuds while ye may" cause something terrible is about to happen. Thanks for the post. Natalie is amazing:)

Yes, this is a wonderful performance! But the song is by Irving Berlin (the tribute to daddie, I guess, is on the screen or perhaps in her interpretation).

This song, IMO, should be kinda spooky. (It was 1936, there was a depression, and a Hitler in Germany -I.B. was Jewish).
