roy carroll, nuff said but i dont think it should be implemented into football as i think it wud ruin the game, sure it is annoying sometimes and can save your team other times but as ThePLstaysinManchest said it would take the excitement from the game
You get controversial subs, cards, positions, player behaviour, free kicks, offsides, throw ins, corners, managers... etc etc
Just Fundamentally making sure that its clear when the ball is OVER the line should be key as football is a multi billion pound industry where all people aim to do is put the ball over the line. surely just have that you can keep all the rest of you controversy cant you?
with garcias goal it wouldnt make 2 much of a difference we would of hd a penalty and cech sent off if it didnt go over the line so i dont matter really and it doesnt matter if the ref cant see it go oer that should be the linesmens job no excuse for it!
the first goal was a goal because the tournament took place in england. If it didn't it wouldn't be a goal!!!!!!!STUPID ENGLISH MOTHERFUCKERS!!!!!!!!!!111
yeah well bein a liverpool fan i think the ball was over the line i think personally it was now as sonderby says all chelsea had to do was score a goal now yeah aginst liverpool in the champions league yeah it is tough bu in the end the better team won tha game the semi finals and the european cup !!!
even the commentator thinks the ball is over the line for the garcia goal... and regardless it should have been a penalty and a red card, and chelsea still just needed to score 1 goal and couldn't. The better team won that game
hurst, no goal... garcia, no goal... carroll mistake, goal. Hurst's did not cross the line fully, Garcia's "goal" never got to the line, let alone over it, Carroll's mistake is clearly a goal
ball must cross over the line completely... Garcia's never got to the line (proven by every single newspaper covering the story the day after the game
I think that goal mouth technology should be implemented and that captains should be able to refer decisions. However, I think that there should be rule where, if you make an incorrect referal, you should not be allowed to make any more referrals in the rest of the game.
I use the fact that the system has worked well in other sports as basis for my opinion.
yes m8,completly agree with you.all the other descisions could be excused but that carroll 1 was a disgrace.that linesman didnt need goal line tech, just didnt need to take the money off ferguson b4 the game.
Wtf The Liverpool v chelsea match was well over the line by luis garcia an if it wasnt it would of been a penalty so that was a good deceison to be a goal like lol !
THe Liverpool vs CHelsea game has been bitched about by Chelsea fans for ages. Simple fact, if it's NOT a goal then it is a Penalty and Cech is sent off.
Englands 3rd goal was clearly wrong; but it wasn't a "stupid" decision.
The ball thunders off the crossbar, onto the line and spins back out in about 0.2 seconds. It even took 30 years for video evidence to prove it hadnt crossed the line!
It was a WRONG decision; but you can't claim the ref is stupid! He doesnt have super zoom in cameras that this video had, the ref didnt have 42 seconds to make his decision, let alone 42 years!
I used 3 paragraphs to intelligently explain my point. You used one sentence without explaining what your point was (a single sentence without a capital letter or a full stop I might add).
So who is the "silly man"?
What exactly do you disagree with? There *is* a difference between a STUPID decision and a WRONG decision. The '66 "goal" was wrong but if, you, me or anyone else had been the ref we'd have a good chance of giving it because it happened that quick.
I am aware a sentence isnt a paragraph. I was drawing a comparison with the quality of my message to the quality of his. I was prepared to articulate myself via 3 paragraphs. He was prepared to offer 1 sentence.
Anyway it is possible to intelligently explain to someone less educated something that one might consider to be "common sense". For an example of this please refer to the 2nd paragraph of this message.
as a german i should say YES....but i dont! NO is the correct answer. Would there be any mystic goals ever again? Let it be! It is good how it is right now
lmao noo , the rule is, if any of the ball is still over the line, it will not be a goal, wether its 1cm on the line, it will not be a goal. has to be all the ball.
I am a reff. And the full ball has to be over the line. There is no Fifa rule stating that only part of the ball must be over it. It is and always will be the full ball.
in response to your question...while one part of me wants goal-line technology since its been invented now...the other part doesn't because it's something that will always lead to arguments and discussions about football...and thats all part of the fun of watching the beautiful game
the first clip shown is from the 1966 World Cup Final! they didn't have goal-line technology then. football (soccer) has always been based on the referees opinion, especially before the technology was invented. you can't call that decision stupid (plus we beat the bloody Germans! :)
as for the second goal...have you seen ANY of the virtual replays of that goal? all the graphics say it was a goal. liverpool deserved to win that semi-final chelsea were sh1t
Yep, only goal line tech... cameras in posts, it would be so fair! But only that!!! we dont want football to be so dependant on technology and looking like the so called "American Football"... Sometimes controversies are one of the things that make football special....
Yeh I agree, only cameras on the insides of the posts or better yet a laser type technology that knows when the ball has crossed the line because of a micro-chip inside the ball itself. The referee hears the "beep" in his ear and gives the goal accordingly. :D (I heard they were already doing that).
If there is a goal... It should count! Tacnology? -Of cource!
